Summer of 2023. Bought an E-SIM plan from Holafly for a drive through Quebec. Seemed like a great deal and I thought I was getting all the data I would need, plus some. Just one rub.... It worked fantastic within the city limits of Quebec and environs. As we left Quebec city and circled the Gaspé, the signal STOPPED and I didn't see bugger-all for signal, even in more populated places, like coastal cities or even Gaspé or Perce'. The first signal returned when we were well into New Brunswick and nearer the US border. When we needed cellular internet, I depended on my fianceé's Verizon, which seemed overpriced but was nearly always getting bars, thus a lifesaver if a budget buster. Holafly; a total waste of money for my trip. If my partner's Verizon hadn't been there, we could have been in a jam... You could probably use it if you are just planning to stay inside of big cities.
@@kmccmedia5468 in general Airalo is good. Check the city you are going to, in the eSIM details they will listed which local mobile companies Airalo will connect with.
Forget about Holafly they disabled hotspot and sharing data with Canada eSIM , now you can use it on a single device only. (Tethering / Hotspot: No, Data Packages: 10GB, 20GB ,Days of use: 30) So if you have 2 devices now u need to buy 2x 10GB package and that will cost you 2x 34USD, if you could make a hotspot you could buy one single 20GB package for 44 USD.
Thank you for your video. May I ask 1 question, so let's say you get the eSim, I'm with Verizon, when you turn your Airplane mode off to accept eSim, will Verizon charge you their fees too? I heard sometimes when Airplane mode is off, some juice can get by and Verizon will charge you. Thank you
Hey, I guess that before turning the airplane mode off you just need to make sure that you disable the data connection in your SIM card from verizon. What I did in my case to be sure was that I removed my regular SIM card from the phone I was using for the internet (luckily I have 2 phones) so in one phone I had the eSIM and I used it to share data/internet and then I had my normal phone on airplane mode. Hope this helps :)
I guess that you already made sure your phone was compatible with esims? If scanning the qr code doesn't work you can also ontroduce it manually. When I used it I just followed a tutorial that Holafly had on how to install the esim and everything worked fine. If you still have problems just contact Holafly through their live chat or by phone

Nice one! 👍 Thanks for sharing! 👍
Glad it was useful!
Holafly NOT allow hotspot sharing. I'm going to use AIRALO instead.
How is the coverage of AIRALO? Holafly only worked for me in major cities, never in the country or even small cities...

Love it !!!

Thank you for the information. The fact that they disabled the hotspot is not good at all.
