      @@NickiPostsTravelStuff Sorry, Going to zone x is safe, but always with someone who can help you, because there are hidden passages and if you step wrong, you may require help. It is true that there is a hidden path that reaches the Coricancha church in Cusco, but the church hinders the discovery. Iam Journalist in Lima

      @@christianguerrero19 I see, thanks for the further explanation. I'm surprised there really is a path goes all the way to the center of Cusco; that seemed really fantastical. I would definitely never go far into a cave by myself though! :) Thanks so much for watching, Christian! :)

    Awesome video Nicki! I have some questions as always haha, how do you afford to travel? And how have you found making friends abroad?

    • @NickiPostsTravelStuff
      @NickiPostsTravelStuff  2 года назад +1

      hahaha Calvin, great questions. Also the most common ones! :) I've been living abroad for the most part of the last 18 years so I have definitely found some strategies. I would also say it's a matter of making it a priority. Often people from richer countries ask me how I can afford to travel, but I would bet that I spend less money per month than you do on rent alone. It's more affordable for me to travel than to live in the US (my sister spent more on rent in just one month than I spent in three months in South America). That said, I have always worked as well. In my younger years, I taught English at schools in Brazil, Argentina, and South Korea. Also, some places pay for your housing, like in South Korea. I've also worked in restaurants, bars, art stores, farms, etc. in NZ and Australia. Over the past 4-5 years I've taught English online, and also worked online for an American health care company that did telehealth for birth control. These days I'm doing freelance for video editing, design, and illustration.
      Making friends abroad is not as complicated as you may think. There are a ton of people living abroad and in the same situation as you. One of the best strategies is to join FB groups, even if you don't really use FB (I don't). Groups make events. You go to those groups until you meet people you connect with. Then you usually just end up breaking off the main group and doing your own thing. It helps to be a bit outgoing as well. Even if you have to fake it in the beginning. I've met great friends at storytelling events in Florence, yoga classes in Miami, FB groups in Georgia and Buenos Aires, etc. Made friends on buses, trains, shared Ubers, etc. Even Tinder and Bumble. There are always other people out there doing what you're doing. Then when you meet them, you meet their friends too, and the circle keeps expanding! :)

      @@NickiPostsTravelStuff wow thanks for such a thorough response! I love the way you designed your life to fit what you want to do! I think the worry for most people is just getting started/into the whole space. And those sound like great ideas for meeting people, even as an introvert it’s good to get out there!
      P.s. I managed to sell my camera gear back for nearly full retail (: I’m now only $4k in debt unfortunately but much closer to travel as we speak haha

    • @NickiPostsTravelStuff
      @NickiPostsTravelStuff  2 года назад +1

      @@calvinwilliams1919 Yeah you're probably right. Definitely getting started can be overwhelming when you haven't done it before! Congrats on selling your gear back! Hopefully you'll get closer to travel very soon. You could also look into things like teaching English in Korea (if that sounds interesting to you) or Japan or wherever, where you will be both traveling and getting paid at the same time. :)
