I hope you bin the Champion spark plugs and get some NGK ones , especially after your problems with the Herald. It may be possible to stick weld the manifold if you pre heat it in an oven or heat it with a blow torch etc. first. Hope you get it sorted without too much more hassle
How about some aftermarket headers? May nit be as expensive as you think? Akso when doing a compression test open the carb chokes and inlet butterflies 👍
I hate working on cast exhaust manifolds as they are brittle and easily broken. Hard to find somebody who can weld them. Good idea to run them over a milling machine before re-installing to make sure they are perfectly flat and seal against the heads. Maybe consider steel tube headers to replace the cast iron?
Great entertainment both, bad luck with the manifolds. The one with the funny mark looks like it may be a casting fault, should be fine if it hasn't leaked in all the years it's been around.
Thats the fun of it 🙂 . Its like when i see parents with more than 2 kids i think thats way too many to handle/care for. But people love it. I think my friend has 5 kids? Sod that. At least i can lock a car away for a few months without getting arrested. 😂😂😂
Alex another RUclipsr I watch say's Champion spark plugs are not very good...putting it politey. He has a big collection of classic 1960s, 70's and 80's American cars and he uses AC delco spark plugs on his collection. He owns Mercury's, Lincoln, Ford, Chrysler, AMC, Pontiac's, and many more, so he has experience with these car's.
Nothing is ever easy Alex is it? However, you always manage to smile in the face of and overcome adversity, amazingly well done.
3:47 You can't do the compression test, but what about the depression test? "Betty, how are you feeling?"
Never knew you had that world away from the rover ❤🤠
Alex, that bolt is not an M10, American motors don't use metric, it's a 3/8" imperial, just saying....😅
Unfortunately the car has been bodged alot in the uk it seems so some bolts on this car are metric . I know Americans never moved on to metric
I thought as soon as you said 10 mm, I thought bodge.....😮

There be two gaskets cos the old manifold warped get it a lot on boat engines 🤠

Not sure it's that easy with this RHD set up. Seems the drivers side one heads up in a strange direction

18:19 Defo straight pipe out of the bonnet. 😂
Can you check the flatness of those manifolds and the surfaces on the heads?

That's an amazing car that!
How about some long tube headers ?
Not sure how to go about getting them for this car.
Can't you get some new manifolds from the USA?
I don't think so 🤔 . Especially for RHD
You need bottles me girl
Get some proper heat on it 🤠
That's a shame the manifolds are all a bit knackered. Could they be repaired somehow? I don't think a mig welder would be up to the task there.
Merry Christmas you two. Alex, don't want to offend, but you can have too many cars that need attention all of the time.
