You can do this before you even know if you have to enter the calibration mode. Experience has taught me that on some devices you run the risk of making mistakes or experiencing totally unexpected things happening, including BRICKING devices, when using "special" modes. For example, weird things can happen on some devices if it's power is disrupted or if you press the wrong button at the wrong time during a given process.
So, before you enter the calibration mode, you can also measure a cell or battery pack's voltage using the "BATTERY METER" function. It's at the top "BATT/PROGRAM" level. As you cycle through the options, (e.g. LiPo, NiMH, Pb, SYSTEM SETTINGS, BATTERY METER, etc) you select the "BATTERY METER" option. It will display the measured voltage without having to enter any calibration mode. IF it needs calibration...THEN you may decide to enter calibration mode. If you don't have to calibrate then you have avoided a POSSIBLY risky procedure.
I would also recommend connecting and reading the multimeter/voltmeter at the same time you are reading the voltage from the B6 unit. This ensures the wiring is identical while both measurements are made and compared. Also, the voltage of a battery can change by a surprisingly high value even over a short period of time depending on things _including_ how recently is has been used or charged , if the temperature has changed, and so on. So while not perfect it still ensures you're at least measuring the battery at the same time with both the B6 and the multimeter.
See the user manual for diagrams of the menu levels and the added functionality of which you may at the moment be unaware.

An error of 10mV is NOT an issue for a 3.7V lithium cell.
For all you know, the 10mV error is caused by temperature or even test lead impedance differences.
You also don't know if the error is linear or if it increases or decreases for higher numbers of cells (e.g. 6S configuration). By correcting a 10mV "error" on 1 cell you could actually CREATE a significantly larger % error on multiple cells...so you might actually cause more problems than you fixed by simply checking with the 1S configuration. Many DMMs have different specs for error ranges depending on which scale you're using to take the reading. For example, you might see +/-1% +5 on the 2V scale and +/-2% + 3 on the 20V scale.

That's my question too. It is a genuine one which can be proved easily. A new buyer must scratch a thin 'cover' over a hologram, scan and send to www.skyrc.com. Skyrc will confirm whether it's a fake or genuine item from them. Mine is genuine. iMax B6 V2 has a Menu call Tools where you have option to check Battery resistance and Voltage (to be used as Voltage meter). If you have a Lithium Battery, it shows the voltage of every cell including the Main voltage (using balance cable). My iMax B6 V2 is always showing lower voltage than the Multimeter which he is using too (same model). How can I trust that my Multimeter (although has more digits) shows the correct value compared with the genuine iMax B6 V2 . To be honest it was a cheap Multimeter which I bought for other purposes (exactly the same model as in this video).

Theres a lots of gotchas here. First, you have ti make sure that your multimeter is AT LEAST 99.9% accurate. Second, you have to you a wide variety of batteries, not just ones, as every battery has its own internal resistance that can either make it difficult to charge or easy to charge. But nice tip nonetheless.

Hi, I have a genuine Imax charger and calibration is possible. I'm just waiting for a fake, bought on ALI , and I will know if it can do it or not.
However, on the fake ones it seems not possible to calibrate... So, with full-charged Lipo cells , if you see a light overvoltage after comparing with a voltmeter , you can simply choose the Li-ION program instead of the Lipo program : it charges a little lower at the end, so your cell is not charged at 4,20V but at 4,10V. It does not matter, you lose some milliamps but the difference is very thin and you are sure of the good protection of the cells. You can simply do a test...
It's really not good to charge a cell at 4,23/4,25V, but it's no problem to charge it at only 4,10/4,15V...On the contrary that preserves and extend the batterylife.
For example I have a Panasonic Ebike battery 36V usually fully charged at 42V. But the Panasonic charger is designed for stopping the charge at 41,6V max to preserve the batterylife. The maximum possible charge is not the best charge.
So if your fake Imax overcharges, it's a real easy solution with the LI-ION program and your cells will be happy to your choice.
Excuse my approximate english, I write you from France and my brain is now fully discharged! I will try a shot with my Imax.....

    • @exgenica
      @exgenica 4 года назад

I've noticed on multiples of this meter...all VERIFIED authentic...that each time you connect a cell or battery pack to the same unit it can read a different voltage. This is within seconds of prior readings, and all measurements are well after the cell/battery has been given enough time to stabilize after any charging or discharging. In my opinion this device can display inconsistent voltage values even when it is authentic and working "properly". I believe this is likely due to resistance changes in the connections and connector clips as they are disconnected and reconnected between readings of a given cell/battery, and variations during self-calibration during its power-on sequence. Differences greater than the 0.01V that "Hacks & DIY channel" discusses in the video are *not* uncommon.
Keep in mind that the voltage of a cell/battery can change significantly after having just been charged or discharged. For example, you may charge a Lithium cell to 4.20V and within seconds of charging completed and the cell being disconnected the cell's voltage can easily drop to something like 4.10V. How quickly and how far it changes can depend on temperature of the cell, the age of the cell, the quality of the cell, cell type, and more.

For the owners of genuine Imax, SKyRC offers since ...september 2016! a new firmware 1.14, which allows calibration for ImaxB6 AC and Mini (specific FW link for each version)
    The link is : www.skyrc.com/blogger/190
You find the link to download the good firmware, and all explanations for correct use.
It's necessary to have a 6S battery with balance switch for the operation.
For owners of other Skyrc chargers you open the homepage of Skyrc , you explore the page, you find "News" and you click on "read all". You find there all firmware downloads, even someones which are not proposed on the official page "download" of the site. This was the case for this 1.14 firmware.
If that can be useful for someones.....

Hasrat Molla 0.01V difference isn’t much, but if yours is off by 0.1 or more, you could overcharge or discharge your battery which could be dangerous.
