That Brumbies team coached by Rod MacQueen was unreal. The Reds outfit were no mugs either but were clearly no match for Gregan, Larkham, Roff, Robinson, Coker et al. And to think Finegan wasn't even playing!
Small unrelated fact. Stephen Larkham and I share the same great grandparents. Steve's grandparents were long time licensees of the kogan hotel after our great grandmother. Great grandfather stuck with droving. That relationship carries across to Brandy Alexander.
@@dishevellednomad Well there you go. That is a fun fact. I never knew Larkham's lineage (or Brandy's for that matter) hailed from the Western Downs region. Do you know if the Hotel still exists?
A little more complicated than that, Great Grandmother and Brandy's great grandfather, from the Alexander family from Sydney. Not sure where Kate (Great Grandmother) met Tom (Dwyer), Great Grandfather, but he was originally from Moree. Not too sure why you would settle at Kogan, not the best country, but these days coal and gas. Great Grandmother was one of 13 and she died at 46, I have some commemorative bottles of (pub) stuff she had done here, trying to find out more about what, why and when. Great Grandmother had 8 kids, last one died a couple of years back at 99, youngest to die was my grandmother at 80. The Warra and Chinchilla cemetery are laden with relatives. There is a story about the Kogan Hotel, which definitely does still exist, and Hugh Sawrey, but walking around the block is calling me. I would be pretty sure Bernie was born in Canberra, his mother I believe in the public service, father possibly too. He sent me a heap of stuff years ago when I was coaching kids and I asked it it were possible. He attended his grandfather's funeral in Chinchilla a long time back. Believe his mother died some time back also. Bit of a story here on Kogan. flic.kr/p/2aEmsZi
