Hi Larry love your clips, yes midi guitar has come a long way, I operated with the Solton MS 40 built my own midi pedals with micro switches for minors etc, it was a slick set up I was in undated with work 8:14 for 20 years till arthritis set in on the fingers, then I went on to Various Ketron model keyboards. Yes I seen the guy with the stetson playing standing up, he was like a one legged chicken balancing on one leg & was unable to play anything sofisticated lol. Contorary to your statement there were many one man bands this side if the pond using guitar along with modules...Keep it Country.
5:30 It has something from the first Mellotron, what has accompaniment on the left side instead one more sound and the Optogan. Both had real recordings of session musicians who plays the parts. When checking the drums of my SD40 with headphones, I noticed silently drummer's headphones, the drum part is from a normal production. At the moment I try to add some own audio drums to my SD90, it's not difficult, you can do it with the free Audacity app, also to create multitrack WAV files (some presentators said 5.1 but that's not true, it's 6 tracks, the Ketron keyboard or module plays track 1 and 2 as stereo track, track 3 to 6 as mono and track 6 can be used as click track, because it can be assigned to the aux out. Okay, I would put the drums to this, because I need these separately
Very cool Larry!!! Always love your particular style of demonstrating these great Ketron products. You're just a natural. Having been a Ketron product user for over two decades as a Midi accordionist, I can definitely relate to all of what you are saying. These are great products. I learned a few things from this video, like the way you organize your Midi files e.g., love songs, etc. also, how you engage your harmonizer by just increasing the slider (this eliminates the need to use an effects pedal turning it on or off). Thank you Larry!!!!
OK, Larry, You tell us we will have to wood-shed it a little if we want to control the SD-90 with a guitar. But that's all you say about how to control the SD-90 with a guitar. That comment has me scared and has been keeping me from ordering the SD-90. What do we have to do in the woodshed?
That is if you want to build in your own Midi controller into your existing guitar. If you get a unit like the Fishman tripple play (or a Guitar with the Midi already built in), you won't have to do this.
What a great unit but as a SOLO Singer / Guitarist who plays Live I'd like to know ::: 1. Can you use any MIDI Foot Controller and Assign it to perform Drum Fills, Style Variations, Intro Start & Outro Endings etc or does it have to be the Ketron 13-Button unit only ? 2. I can't see how it's possible to do Lead Breaks using this or the SD40 in this Mode as it has to be told what chords you are playing to do the accompaniment as you are playing them ?
Great Larry!! Do we have a way to use this equipment for bossanova, latino boleros. These musics have very complex chords, not just major and minor, but all kind of jazz structure chords. Also, what about Caribbean like Salsa, Merengue, Calipso, etc..?? Thanks for your time.
Larry great teaching my friend. I just purchased the SD-90. I have a question for you... What kind of microphone stand you used for the SD-90 can you provide me with information? I like the way you have the SD-90 on the microphone stand.
I am asking me why you did not show how could I use the guitar effects of this item? I mean like crunch, flanger, distortion etc. I don't want to play the piano through the guitar. For this I will take a keyboard.
At location 2:20 you say "Before you start a song you definitely want to make sure you give the machine the Key you are going to be in. The Key of the song you are about to play. So the SD 90 does not follow the chords you play? Many recording artists shift from one key to a higher key for the last verse e.g. Me and Bobbie McGee by Kris Kristofferson.
What we mean here is ... if you want to start the machine and have it instanly play a particular chord on the first note, then you need to strum this chord BEFORE you press the START button so that as soon as you press START, it knows what chord you want to start in. It does not refer to the KEY OF THE SONG, but rather the CHORD you want to hear when you press the START button. If you do not do this and press START, you will hear DRUMS ONLY, until you play a chord.
Is it possible for Europeans to purchase the additional styles for the US music? When Americans came to Munich Oktoberfest, they were impressed, that the band played stuff like "Sweet Home Alabama"
Hey Larry. The MidJay Pro is working well for me now. I am thinking that because you've been in a business for a while you might know how I can find an old (late 70s early 80s) rhythm machine or the early Yamaha or Hammond music station keyboards. I am thinking first or second generation preset rhythm machine.
When it comes to rhythem, nothing is as lively as the KETRON products, so I would go with an older one like the Midjay series or even SD3. Email us at Ajaminc@Gmail.com for some options and products in this price bracket - with warantee!
Hello Larry, I have the midjay plus the older model, can this module change chord with 3 or more notes ,and how I can set up it ? I can’t find nothing on owners manual thank you in advance 🙏
Hi Larry!!! I'm so happy to have stumbled onto your videos, which are dedicated to Ketron. Question: I have an SD2 that I simply love. But I need to know how I should hook it up. I'm using Sonar and have the "ins" instrument file and it shows up in Sonar. I have a Focusrite 6i6 as my interface. I have a regular MIDI keyboard controller for my MIDI input. How do I connect my MIDI wires to get the Ketron into Sonar? Also... is there an "instrument" patch file for the Ketron SD2 that will allow me to use it in Reaper? If so, where would I get it? Again, I'm so happy to have found you. You have an automatic Sub/Notify coming at you!!! Thanks.

Press MENU. Touch MIDI - Accrd Style & Voice - Arranger Keyboard - RX - Set Global = 1 and make sure nothing else is set to channel 1. Then go back to STYLE and turn on PIANIST mode.
SD90 offers the Live Guitars and Live Drums and Bass not found in the SD40. However since as a guitar player, you will be playing live, this means the Live Guitar may not be a big PLUS for Guitar players - as they are for keyboard and accordion players. Check out this video:- ruclips.net/video/J3KtKLrmloQ/видео.html
What channel is the Midi of your guitar transmitting on? Set the SD90 (MENU - Midi - Accord & Guitar - RX) to match the channels from your guitar (Left = 2 e.g) means your Guitar will be transmitting on channel 2 as well.

No. You must use either the programmable KETRON FS6 or FS13. You can however use any MIDI Pedal board to control the chords/notes ... etc.

Yes. The chords are only limited by the MIDI transmitted from your Guitar, which is where Fishman Tripple play and OMB shine!
