Hollyoaks writers are amazing as back in April we saw Ste being a bit distant to the far-right extremist group but still loving Jonny. Now in September, Ste hates the group.

Despite Ste having so many chances to leave, that final scene was hard to watch and had me feeling sick. Ste really opened his eyes this week, albeit far too late. I agree he should be punished for his actions but he was groomed and manipulated for months. And it's a great storyline that Hollyoaks are tackling as this does happen. It's heart-wrenching to see Ste beaten being forced into a corner with no escape. Just the look in his eyes. You can tell he feels terrible but broken. He just wants his family back. He should face justice for what he has done yes, but it's horrid to see him trapped. Great acting all around though.
Fletcher O'Riordan I agree about this. But I also hope that Harry's not dead and they'll reconcile they're marriage! I mean when John Paul comes back to the village permanently he and James "McQueen" 😉 will reconcile their engagement! Also that abusive psycho serial killer BB did the same thing to him!
@@ChelseyLinden Thank you :) as for Harry being alive I unfortunately think given the trailer for the upcoming weeks and just what we do know I think that he is actually dead. I can't imagine Hollyoaks letting two of Breda's victims live, especially as Harry's body is due to be found soon. It is a shame he was killed off though :(
American soaps would never write about something like this. This was amazing!
I do feel sorry for Ste. I just wish he listened to his loved ones instead of those groups. But goodness sake this guy is so vulnerable...I find him a hypocrite because he harmed Jed yet he hates hurting people.
Brendan should return and give him one of his lovely slaps.. Maybe then Ste can find his Self again

Based on what I saw from this scene here, Ste should have just listened to his loved ones, and why was he so racist to Sami literally wow, this is my first time seeing this and I just feel sorry for him.

Wow, I can't believe a youth drama tackled such a volatile, deeply polarizing issue in service of a social cohesion mandate! I worked for a daily drama in South Africa that wouldn't touch issues like this with a ten foot pole. We once did a story where an estranged, white, formerly middle-class father had fallen in with some criminal types who threatened his middle-class daughter's life. The daughter was introduced to the show in witness protection type storyline that saw her move in with a well respected, working-class, black family on the show until her father could sort his mess out. It was a wonderful opportunity for social cohesion until the producer (who storylined it) decided to make this teenage girl clean the family's fridge! It generated conflict in the story but in the most bizarre, uncomfortable way with nebulous, racist undertones. I remember suggesting that the black working-class daughter should braid the white girl's hair as a fun bonding exercise that would symbolize the white girl's growing fascination / respect and willingness to integrate with the community but just got a weird look from the producer. Years later, someone on the story team commended a white celebrity for pulling off a traditionally black hairstyle and the same producer, thinking she understood the spirit of the discussion, eagerly but unwisely chimed in "yes, it's amazing she doesn't feel like a fool!". And just like that, I understood what had been behind that weird look, why no braids ever made it into the witness protection story and why it was okay for a white, middle-class, supporting character we never saw again to clean out an established, black, working-class family's fridge and teach them a lesson in hygiene rather than learn one about social cohesion. Amazing how the worldview of one person can affect the flavour of a show. It's times like that when audiences call out a show for being racist even if they can't quite pinpoint why. Apologies for the tangent, but I was moved by your healthy approach to storytelling and had to share a contrasting one. Keep calm & carry on Edutaining! Much respect! ✊

Those are the complexities and complications of grooming. They literally mess with your head, and to target people so vulnerable as well, they are lied to and manipulated into thinking all sorts, victims like Ste are the extremist's play thing, they groom you, promise you the world, get you to let your guard down, and you are basically theirs to control and manipulate, as well as radicalise. It takes a while for them to finally see things clearly, but the longer they're alone with no support system, like Leela and Perri - Ste's family, the difficult it becomes for them, they're stuck with that extremist mindset, like an echo chamber of extremist views, regurgitated by their groomer. And this isn't just with far right extremism, this is the exact same with other forms of extremism too, in religion/politics etc.
It takes great effort and commitment to deradicalise the mind, because what extremists have done is played havoc with it, like rewiring the brain etc.
Extremists prey on your vulnerabilities, and the more you're excluded from society, completely disassociated from family, commitments, work, friends etc - the better it is for the extremist.
I'm so glad Ste's family helped him before it got seriously worse for him, I was worried he wasn't going to get out of it alive. That's how horrible things can get, and sadly people don't realise it until it's too late.
As a Muslim, I genuinely felt terrible for Ste, poor guy got in way too deep and didn't realise.
And what happens on Hollyoaks, Ste lashes out at Sami when Sami tells Ste to stay away from
far right thugs and start to protect from them. Why will happen that She didn't quite thinking that
