I'm always amazed at how your livestock, horses and cows, run out on land that looks like a billy goat would starve yet they are all in good condition.
Being on the East Coast I agree that it doesn't look like enough grazing for a goat. The horses are beautiful.

When we were kids we liked to count the train cars going by. They were coal cars out of Montana that came into the Detroit Edison Power plants near our home in Michigan along the St. Clair River. They were 120 cars long and yes, we liked looking at the graffiti they were tagged with. Your trains are a flat car stacked with 2 trailers each, triple deckers! Bet they roar past lots faster then ours, too much civilization around here, ha!

Well, the pastures are all divided by fence… we know what we put in certain ones and just keep an eye on everything… 🤷🏻♀️

Yes of course. She was bit by a snake on both her front legs as a baby…. She’s a great broodmare 😉

Do you feed a straight grass hay and put it up yourselves or buy it ? Just curious after watching you throw hay out to those mares? Is there native feed out there or do you feed them during winter ?
We feed them alfalfa. We have to buy from Phoenix. We only feed them if it’s been a super dry year otherwise yes, there is enough Native feed to sustain them.

Just curious…why are a couple mares not moved over with the bunch?
We explain in the video that they are older and need to be watched and possibly supplemented through the winter. They would be harder to watch if they were put in the River pasture.

I have often worried about the snakes in your pastures. I can’t recall seeing any of the PDR crew having an encounter with a snake. There must be rattle snakes out there because I read in one of your responses that one of the brood mares had been bitten on both of her front legs when she was a baby. I always worry that Jerry or Lincoln will run into a rattlesnake since they are the main ones walking. Do you have any snake interactions on video or stories to tell?😎
No real memorable ones to tell. They aren’t a big problem really
That is one reason I wear boots every day and they are high tops. That way I don’t ever worry when I am walking. I did have an encounter a few years ago as I picked up a piece of pipe and I was struck in the hand but one fang just got the side of my hand but no penetration.
