I wonder if the "on fire" (smoke) effect happens because of a non-mech character being in a mech stage, and since you don't have a health meter, the game thinks you're near death so you start smoking and sparking like the mech would be at low health.

The plot so far: a mysterious black hedgehog has appeared in the public eye after having performed a double joint operation on military bases with a red echidna companion after being labelled terrorists. A doctor and master gamer, intrigued by these unfolding events, went to investigate the source of it all.
Sonic the Hedgehog, arrested for chao abuse and under the suspision of being involved with the military operations, was freed by Amy Rose. After being told of Eggman's plan, Sonic joined up with Knuckles and Shadow to get their names cleared and performed an ascension, only to have their power drained by a monster.
A chao is also on everyone's tail.
Playing the mech areas as Knuckles is a VERY welcome change honestly
Hahah! I'm surprised the jump sound has stayed relatively normal, I've seen it happen where Omochao shouts "Let's go to the lobby!" every time you jump before.

just after watching this video, I downloaded the mod and in the config made that the story order was normal and made 1 quick full playthrough of Hero story. And maaaaaan!!! In that story there is no sonic or tails or knuckles gameplay, only in cutscenes. And highlights of this: Rouge through City Escape, mechlles Eggman (him in chao world) through Green Forest, Tikal vs King Boom Boo (okay....), Shadow vs Big Foot robot (oh hey, just how was meant to be), Knuckles through Eternal Engine, Tikal vs Rouge (..... what?!?!?) and the best final boss of Hero Story not Runnig character vs running character (like metal sonic vs amy, nonono) Tails in mech vs Eggman in mech. Whole that fight I was in Ehhhhh!!????............. .
i tried this earely and one of my results was green forest, beating it in 40 miunts,.....with Knuckles..BUT I DID IT AND WAS AWSOME
