I Nintendo ever brings back F-Zero to the spotlight, I think it would be a good idea to make it a racing/fighting hybrid game. Since Nintendo made Falcon into a Smash fighter with many iconic phrases to many, especially the falcon punch, it would be fitting if the same applied there. Of course, I do see some problems trying to apply this to a game primarily about futuristic racing, but I bet there will be someone who can get around the obstacles and revive F-Zero in a good light, along with being unique from it's competitors!
Nintendo should just give the rights to SEGA considering they developed GX, the best one. GX feels so incredibly SEGA, the updated and new designs, the aesthetic, the music especially, which was composed by Shoji Hidenori, who also works on the Yakuza series. ( Listen to GX's soundtrack and then any Yakuza soundtrack, they're so good. He has such a signature sound. ) IMO an F-Zero without SEGA just wouldn't feel like F-Zero at this point.
Even the other F-Zero games still have that SEGA arcade game vibe, plus the over the top characters/setting and energetic music, it's the type of game that just fits them well, I'd honestly love if they became permanent devs for F-Zero.
I once heard that Nintendo only makes a new installment to an old franchise if they can create something new with it (think Star Fox for Wii U, where they added motion control), so here's my pitch: We need an F-Zero game that is open-world, where you travel around the galaxy hunting bounties and participating in street races. It would be gritty, but not gratuitous in its violence, and very story driven. You could spend as much time as you want exploring the vast environments and messing around in your vehicle or whatever, then go play story missions when you're ready. There would be an arcade mode, giving people the classic F-Zero experience, and then the story mode would be the main draw of the game. Nintendo pls we need this. 🙏
Nintendo should find some team with a good sense of speed, like they did with GX, or like they are trying to do with Metroid dread and that genre, if they don't want to do it themselves. There has got to be F zero fans buried in game studios all over the world who would jump at the chance.
You know, it really isn't hard to do a new F-Zero game. I don't get why Nintendo refuses to touch it again. I'd settle for them just remastering F-Zero X, add in a new cup or two, and the new machines from GX. Tada! You got a new F-Zero game.
