      @williamsmith666 6 месяцев назад

      I loved that match. Sources claim Luger wasn't scared of Brody, but that fucker scurried out of the cage like a frightened squirrel. It was beautiful.
      Thing is, Brody figured he knew how much he was worth as a talent and really was fed up with being screwed over by the bookers in whatever territory he ended up in.
      Same thing happened in the Luger match; if you knew you could cash in hard in the next town over but you're stuck in a cage having to sell for some worthless WWF meathead, you'd shut down and expose him, too. I know I would.

    • @iceman2796
      @iceman2796 6 месяцев назад +7

      What Heenan said about Brody was 100% true. People don't like to speak ill of the dead. Brody was notorious for saying he wouldn't wrestle at the last minute unless he got more money. He was known to hide and watch how many people were walking through the door and then demanding more money. Brody was always out for himself and not a team player. The majority of the wrestlers were that way in the 60's, 70's, and 80's but Brody was worse than most. Brody had to be top dog. Brody might be alive today if he could have learned how to lose a match. There are stories that Vince McMahon was willing to take a chance and let Brody come to the WWF in 84 and 85 (hurt the AWA more). Hogan was all for it to make big money. McMahon knew Brody couldn't be trusted (along with other antics) and passed on it. Brody loved the more independent promotions like World Class, Central States, and the AWA. Brody's antics left him nowhere to wrestle for good money in states when the WWF and WCW expanded. Wrestlers like Hogan and Flair knew how to make more money using backstage politics (the pen ) while Brody used strong arm tactics (the sword). The pen will always be mightier than the sword.

    Apparently,Harley Race told Brody not to play politics in Puerto Rico.
    As Ive gotten older,Ive learned that,as much as one wants to right what They consider an injustice,its often best not to upset the apple cart and just let things be.
    Frank Goodish was a very nice,intelligent,family oriented man,but a good employee does things with the company in mind,even if They personally disagree and He pissed people off when He went into business for Himself...one too many times as it turned out.
    That being said,Gonzales shouldve been convicted of 1st degree murder.
    By accquitting Him by virtue of self defense,the Jury was saying Gonzales brought the knife into the shower in anticipation of Brody doing something,which is beyond stupid.
    If Brody hadnt passed,just imagine the matches He couldve had in ECW and the Japanese death match territories(FMW,W*ING,IWA).He and Cactus Jack/Mick Foley as well as He and Terry Funk wouldve had matches that one could only hope to dupilcate.

    I do get his point about Brody messing over the guys on the under-card, but Brody had to look out for #1 first- himself. Brody wasn't going to allow any promoter to shortchange him. The promoter also has the bigger responsibility to protect his business by taking care of ALL his talent. And the guys who did treat him well, he made a fortune for- Fritz, Verne, St. Louis, Japan. And all respected him and he them.

    Saw Bobby n Ventura in Oakland in early 80’s? Less than a thousand people maybe there.
    Sheiky was on the card as was Hogans’ 1st run.
    He was horrible as a wrestler then.
    Fun card tho-Sheik with his flag😂😂😂

    why are all wrestling interviews called shoots? A shoot is a very specific thing but it seems every single one gets tagged as a shoot interview

    • @darylabrams2
      @darylabrams2 3 месяца назад

      I always took it to mean real like a shoot match. Basically the person is not in character and tells the truth according to them. It would be unheard of in the old days when they protected the business. Some guys like Roddy piper and ric flair admitted they had trouble doing those kind of interviews because they were taught for years to not reveal things about the business. So when you see Roddy doing an interview and trying to find the words just remember that it could be because they had to protect the wrestling business back in the old days.

      @@darylabrams2 Oh no doubt no doubt but this isn't the 70's or 80's. Everyone has a podcast or YT video now, they aren't shoots anymore. They're just interviews, or chats or whatever know what I mean?

    One wrong evaluation by Bobby. Abdullah the Butcher was the greatest, most scientific pro wrestler of all time.

      @@Spooky_515 I see both sides of it. Brody was selfish and negligent. But the "you're screwing it up for other guys" is a plantation mentality. The guy who stood up for himself was painted a villian. Thus, the workers stayed content and never stood together and unionized.
