Man I use to hate Bobby as a kid, lol. Now that I’m older I appreciate how good he was at being a heel. He was a genius with his words, rest easy Bobby.
Got to meet Bobby at Wrestlecon in 2013 and he wasnt at his best but was still an honour to meet him. In a perfect world he'd be hear doing fan conventions and podcasts. Amazing man
His podcast would have been solid gold. Watched WWF as a kid always liked him even though I would cheer the face. Felt the same way about Perfect, Rude and Dibiase, of course now I recognize all those guys as just great entertainers.
I met him there too! Yeah he was in a bad way, but he seemed to still be enjoying being around the boys, people coming up to him saying hi and stuff. I'm glad I got to meet him at least once. He's my all-time favorite wrestling personality. Just unmatched wit. He could have just as easily been on SNL back when SNL was still good.
When Shawn Michaels clearly threw Marty Jannetty through the window and he said what a act of cowardism Jannetty tried to dive out the window to escape I was done 😆 🤣
@Dingoplexor They were just special performers..I was at a Phillies game one night and the brain was in the first row. They announced him on the big screen the place went wild.
Bobby Heenan is the best worker, manager, commentator, quick witted person I've ever met. He was 16 when he purchased his own house! Not only that but he quit school in 8th grade and took care of his mother and grandmother. Correct me if I am wrong.
I couldn't stand him when I was a kid. And that means he did his job well. I was a kid in the 80s growing up watching these guys. It breaks my heart watching some of these older interviews I'm telling ya what..
One of my favorite childhood memories was watching Heenan get put into a weasel suit at an AWA show, and him running around trying to unzip it. He had the whole arena laughing. Absolutely the best wrestling character ever.
Bobby or Jesse doing commentary were my two favorite WWF characters. I liked them better than any wrestler or manager (maybe Piper in WWF in the 80s could hang with them). They were the most entertaining part of the show - including the big events. Genius to have full time heel commentators. Either one working with Monsoon was fantastic.
The Chris Kanyon comment = TRUTH. I worked AXXESS at Mania 19 in Seattle and Kanyon was recovering from a (well-documented) staph infection in his elbow. I asked him how his elbow was doing and all I got was a death glare from him. Brian Kendrick, same day, was literally talking to everyone - marks, kids, didnt matter...the diff was night and day.
Kanyon suffered from severe mental illness and was a closeted gay wrestler. It shouldn’t be shocking that Kanyon and somebody like Brian Kendrick had completely different attitudes and outlooks on life.
This interview was the year he discovered he had cancer. 15 years later, he was gone. He fought cancer and its complications for 15 freakin' years. That shows you how tough and how determined he was. A goddamn shame. F*** Cancer.
The most incredible Manager Bobby the Brain . When I was a youngen it was Bobby the Brain managing the Champion Nick Bockweinkle. You talk about two very intelligent talents . I think they were the start of great promos .
The greatest manager accolade isn't sufficient... Hands down one of the greatest performers and entertainers the business has ever seen. The first pick on my wrestling Mt. Rushmore.
Brain or weasel you are amazing and missed and loved. You and Gorilla are the best announce team in my opinion. You alone made me laugh with your comments and actions
The Brian just had a wit that knew no bounds. Sharp as a tack and as blunt as a board all at ounce. He could slap two insults into half a compliment and have you walking away smiling.
My favorite Heenan one liner came in a squash match involving the Junk Yard Dog. Bobby said, "What kind of name is Junk Yard? His mom had nine months to come up with a name and the best she could do was Junk Yard"
It's still so cruel to me that a man so known for his quick wit and ability to talk was robbed of it for years before he left us. Truly one of the most important figures in wrestling history.
I always like Bobby The Brain Heenan he had a great wrestling mind and he was entertaining and his wrestlers were entertaining also he understands the business of wrestling.
2:09 Sid outplayed Vince multiple times, was more over than he was supposed to be always, and still left when he wanted to play softball. Dude was smarter than you brain hate to break it to ya.
As much as I love Sid, he took that stuff too personal. I felt Sid was a little ahead of his time with his attitude, character, and got over with fans as a heel before it was a norm. He would have fitted more better in the Attitude Era if he was five years younger. If a man can't take a joke from Heenan especially in that era, he shouldn't be that business.
the brain was the best. him and gorilla made the best team. don't underestimate the brains wrestling he was terrific in the ring. he truly was the goat. going to miss you the brain. thank you gor always entertaining us. r i p ......jamey
Bobby was mentioned Mikey Whipwreck in this during the WCW run. Mikey in a recent shoot interview said he and Bobby got along well in WCW. And the Brain is right. You let the announcers get you over no matter if they are making fun of you or not.
Wow such a great approach the brain had! This is why he seems to have mostly positive things to say about eveyone. Gorilla was his best friend, otherwise his family was not imvolved with the business. These we're his coworkers. He did his job and went home. The problem in most work places is people are to into the job and the people's lives they work with. Including dating each other. Whicn is now what we see with most Mens and Woman's wrestling are all dating
I hear ya on most of what you're saying. But I kind of understand the dating co-workers thing, because some of these wrestlers are on the road 300+ days a year. Unless you can afford to have your wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend traveling with you constantly --- and they're up for it --- that's gotta be a huge strain on your relationship. And if they AREN'T traveling with you, how soon until either one of you starts looking for "attention" elsewhere. Unless you're in an "open" relationship with your partner who doesn't travel with you, then I can really understand why a better option might be to date someone who travels with you more often than not. Sure, it can be messy if it doesn't work out since you'll still be seeing each other at work all of the time, but if you go into it with both of you acknowledging that possibility, perhaps you'll be more likely to deal with it in a mature manner should a breakup happen. Luckily for Heenan, he was working during the territory days when he got married and had a kid, so he worked only a few days a week, and traveled much less and pretty much "locally" in the Minnesota AWA territory compared to WWF's increasingly nationwide kind of touring. He was already in his 40s and had a family when he joined WWF, and I'd imagine that someone already so settled into a domestic family life would be far less likely to cheat, unless they were a total scumbag --- which Heenan clearly wasn't in real life, especially if an all-around stand-up guy like Gorilla Monsoon was best friends with him.
@@thetragicfigure Also good points as far as a significant other goes. It can be good to see them and be with them, also bad maybe when you are seeing them to much lol. But of course it's a different than those of us with a regular job. But overall I think his approach of leaving work at work is a good thing
Bobby understood Kayfabe. And the psychology of the fans. While some did, and stil do for some reason take it so seriously, most of us knew it was a soap opera. It's whats missing today. CHARACTERS. Wrestlers were characters, not real people.
Surprised to hear about Kanyon, I've always liked his in ring work, but that of course doesn't mean he was a rocket surgeon (see what I did there) outside the ring. Sid doesn't surprise me, I've seen both his shoot interviews and his promos and and he's as dumb as a bag of rocks. Very impressive looking, seriously over at certain points, but would have greatly benefited from a mute gimmick. Just like Goldberg, he was much more impressive, when all you could hear him say was: "aaagrrrh". Damn shame about Bobby, sometimes I play wcw matches in my earphones while I work, just for his commentary and I laugh..he was the best.

*THE GOAT.*
God bless him.
Yes sir 👏 🙌. I wondered what he thought of bret hit men
Amen
Bobby Heenan, greatest ever.
Bobby the Brain and Jimmy Hart are irreplaceable
He was the best and was the funniest announcer of all time. RIP When he called women, "Tootse" I was a fan forever. LoL
When Shawn Michaels clearly threw Marty Jannetty through the window and he said what a act of cowardism Jannetty tried to dive out the window to escape I was done 😆 🤣
@@undergroundheatcypher1091Bobby was one funny person 😂
He really showed a set of balls with his fight against cancer. It’s funny how the bad guys are really the good guys in real life.
Especially looking at wrestling now behind the door's...The brain was the best manager in the buissness..And him and monsoon was great together.
It always made me laugh how that worked out! Even Greg Valentine, n King Kong Bundy? A few of the most genuine people out there
@Dingoplexor They were just special performers..I was at a Phillies game one night and the brain was in the first row. They announced him on the big screen the place went wild.
@@sammygaudino8906 that’s awesome
I miss him terrible he is the best manager in history he did and and could it all and he made my child hood the best .
as soon as he was announced as bobby heenan from beverly hills california, the heat was on. everybody hated anyone from beverly hills. brilliant
He was a complete master of his craft. He made us believe everything word he said when he was on camera.
He did his job perfectly
Bobby was a gem
He's the best.... Greatest manager ever.
Bobby Heenan is the best worker, manager, commentator, quick witted person I've ever met. He was 16 when he purchased his own house! Not only that but he quit school in 8th grade and took care of his mother and grandmother. Correct me if I am wrong.
Bobby Heenan, The greatest man to grace pro wrestling!
Great bunch of interviews. What a legend working during the best era in wrestling
We (those of us who grew up with Bobby) never realized how good this man was until we lost him and wanted him back. Thanks for the memories Brain.
Bobby was a very humane and intelligent man. Funny, witty, smart, and new his trade. Thanks for all the laughs and entertainment. We all owe you.
I fucking love that guy 😂 The Brain was always my favorite ❤
I just wanted him to say Ham and Eggers or humanoids one more time so funny. Him and gorilla were comedy genius 🤣
Best ever
I couldn't stand him when I was a kid. And that means he did his job well. I was a kid in the 80s growing up watching these guys. It breaks my heart watching some of these older interviews I'm telling ya what..
I use to love watching him drive Gorilla Monsoon crazy with his commentary. May they both rest in peace 🙏🏽
Now that was a pair........
"G.O.A.T." is a term that gets thrown around far too much- but THIS MAN is truly The G.O.A.T. . Thank you Bobby. 🙏
One of my favorite childhood memories was watching Heenan get put into a weasel suit at an AWA show, and him running around trying to unzip it. He had the whole arena laughing. Absolutely the best wrestling character ever.
0:56 It's cool to hear Bobby's thoughts on his former "client", Angelo Poffo, Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth.
He was the greatest.
As a kid I hated Heenan, and as an adult I loved him, just goes to show what a brilliant person he truly was.
"WILL YOU STOP IT?!"
I read that in Gorilla's voice lol
Bobby was Gold with every mic he touched.. A True Legend of the business! RIP Bobby The Brain Heenan...
Greatest manager and commentator ever.
He came off as a genuinely super nice man who understood it was just a job nothing more
The Chris Kanyon comment = TRUTH. I worked AXXESS at Mania 19 in Seattle and Kanyon was recovering from a (well-documented) staph infection in his elbow. No one better than Bobby.
I wish I could sit at a bar and talk with this guy for hours.....RIP, Bobby.
I .met Bobby years ago. He was working the Hotdog stand at an AWA gym show. I'm honored to have gotten that chance
I hated this dude as a child but now realize what a genius he was! 💯🔥
I miss him...❤❤❤

Also Sid: "I'M TWICE THE MAN YOU ARE, AND I HAVE HALF THE BRAIN YOU DO!!"
😂😂😂
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan is the man. No matter what everyone else is thinking
He was a nice Man Randy was okay 😁
It sound like by him saying Randy was ok was like saying he wasn’t all that great but Bobby is a legend and so is Randy
The man is a genius. The best character in the history of the business. #2 R Truth.

Gorilla and Bobby were great in the booth!
Bobby Herman was the real deal. Good guy that really understood the business and wanted to do a good job and get paid. A true working man.

The Brian just had a wit that knew no bounds. Sharp as a tack and as blunt as a board all at ounce.

Jake Roberts: Well since you asked...
I wish Bobby was still here, he'd have so much stories to tell.
Clever angle he propy to that man Canyon. Its humble to be willing to accept advise and apply it.

RIP Bobby and Chris. I have no doubt that Kanyon should have listened, but he still got buried later on
Some of the nicest people play great villain characters. It’s because they know the behaviors they really dislike and bring it to the part.

Well, Heenan managed to never almost bleed to death from a scissor fight, so he's got that over Sid.
As much as I love Sid, he took that stuff too personal. I felt Sid was a little ahead of his time with his attitude, character, and got over with fans as a heel before it was a norm. Bobby and Gorella Monsoon were the best together no question
I love Bobby

Paul Heyman said it best at Wrestlemania 17 " The Johnny Carson of Wrestling" RIP Brain 🧠
After seeing his shoot interview and reading his book I wonder how Bobby Heenan would have booked his own territory.
