In the book, he's trying to avoid being called muadib as he's heard it chanted in dark visions. So he chooses the small mouse, then finds out Muadib is the mouses name.
What's crazy is that Paul knew what it meant, but he wanted to get even closer to them, so he faked a little ignorance. Paul is 100% the protagonist but in no way a good man. No one in Dune is. That's what makes the story so brilliant. Here you have this bigger than life Syfy movie, but story wise, it is one of the most human stories I have seen since the Godfather. All these people engaged in horrific acts on a planetary scale, but it's also about family, love, justice, revenge, faith, and so many more things. This movie visually and story wise is the best I have seen in a long time. It was also nice to see a studio just let the director do his thing.
Muad'Dib is wise in the ways of the desert. Muad'Dib creates his own water. Muad'Dib hides from the sun and travels in the cool night. Muad'Dib is fruitful and multiplies over the land. Muad'Dib we call 'instructor-of-boys.' That is a powerful base on which to build your life, Paul-Muad'Dib.
He knew what mua’did meant. He was playing fool to gain the trust of the people he wanted that name because it meant who leads the way. He wasn’t destined to be lisan al gaib, his sister was he changed the course of the time through spice prescience . Watch it again and refer books
You can SEE Paul’s mood shift when he realizes he accidentally gave himself the title he so desperately wanted to avoid. Such a subtle yet effective acting decision
@@Telstar2018 Yes i know that. But why during his speech he says that he is "Paul Muadib atreides" and not "Paul muadib usul"? Shouldnt he say his secret name to the fremen, since they gave him that name

I guess is more for the people who read the book. The message of the book at least is never trust your leader. No matter hiw charismatic they are they always chase their own personal benefit. Paul isnt a saviour. He was driven by vengenace and reshaped entire future just to get his own way of killing the baron. He wasnt suppouse to be kwisatz haderach, he isnt the chosen one. He used people who were superstitious and waited for a saviour to come. He used his presience and visions to sway them into thinking he is literall god just so he can use them to his own benefit

Dune was special before but the movies couldn't complete it's legacy before, neither did this one.

Question for native speakers. Is it correct to say " How do you call this?". Maybe he should have said " What do you call this?"
"How do you call this" is older english, way less common than "what do you call this."
