there is a short section that remains in service, less than 1 km, so that a train that terminates at Gawler can move onto, and allow a Gawler Central line train to pass, then return to Adelaide, or the stabling yards at Gawler I believe.
@@annyer262 This comment is correct, about ~100m of it is still in use even now! 3 of the sidings at Gawler cannot be accessed from a platform, so when services that terminate at Gawler need to stable, they shunt onto the Morgan line to allow other trains to pass.
