It’s not a mystery really. She is a pure musician who plays for the song, not her ego. She never wanted to join the country pop machine. Plays on her terms with whomever and plays whatever she wants. I’m grateful for that because I love seeing her in small venues instead of sport stadiums.
Actually (and for me, sadly), Beyoncé passed her Grammy record a few years ago. But I believe if you add up ALL of the music industry awards, Alison still has the most.
I've seen Alison live 3 times, and she was pitch perfect in every show. I would also love to hear your reaction to her live performance of till I gain control again.
I have their live double album from around 2001, when O Brother Where Art Thou came out. It’s perfect, not a missed note in the laying or singing. Kinda unreal. Not much talent like that around these days.
I played lead guitar and a local band for 20 years for fun…I own my own company. I consider myself a decent musician. I would not write myself high but these. When you watch this group play top to bottom every one of them are amazing musicians. It’s no wonder Robert Plant just loves Union Station and Alison Krauss
This is how she sounds live. The lack of emotion in the recording is fully intentional, and is an attempt to convey passion and numbness at the same time.
They say she hits the centre of each note...pitch perfect. Note too that she doesn't require pitch correction...apparently what you hear from studio recordings is same live.
She has more Grammys than any other female performer. She can play many instruments. Very well. Well would not cover her ability. Her group Union Station…. You should watch them play live. They are known as the one take band. If you get a chance on your own play Alison Krauss and Union Station live and try the song…the lucky one. Watch these guys play their instruments. Amazing. Obviously her winning all those Grammys was not a coincidence
Allison has a beautiful voice but i prefer shenandoahs 1990s version. I wore out 2 cassette tapes of that song and other Shenandoah songs. Wife got me the album on CD afterwards.
loved your breakdown and analysis. I would love for you to listen to Some songs by New Grass Revival. Like These Days or a woman's love or Reach. Great lead vocals and harmonies
Guess that is exactly the way the believer in an afterlife would sing, even if there is an instance someone came back. Somehow losing that belief makes for believable singers, you get one chance to make the best of your life. This is make belief singing, without a care in the world. Then again, living in the real world is something I live by.
Big Brain Singer, if you ever wonder why you don't have more viewers, it's because you are so concerned about letting everyone know your wise, expert opinion you don't respect the music. STOP interrupting every single damn phrase and let the music speak.
garbage analysis by "the know it all/ look how important i am" guy in the forefront ... way too many interruptions ... liked the guy in the back ...he had to tell "big mouth what the meaning of the song was...

It's a real mystery how Allison Krauss is so unknown given the fact that she is the woman who has won the most grammy awards ever...
Seriously! And her tone, pitch and purity are spot on every.f'ing.time.

And the most beautiful voice you could ever hear outside of heaven.....
She's extremely well known and has sold nearly 8 million albums, but being country/ bluegrass she doesn't get any pop radio play.
Actually (and for me, sadly), Beyoncé passed her Grammy record a few years ago. But I believe if you add up ALL of the music industry awards, Alison still has the most.

She Has 27 Grammy And She Sound Just Like What You Are Hearing Live. Been To Two Of Her Concerts And When She Start To Sing, You Can Hear A Pin Drop.
Allison is also one of the best violin/fiddle players in bluegrass/country.
Alison has perfect pitch. She and Union Station sound almost exactly the same live.
Can testify. I've seen them 5 times.
she is just as clear and just as good live.

One thing is for certain ... they sure love the sound of their own voices even more than any song.
Watch the live version of this song. She tells a funny story about this song at the beginning. Lol she is one of very few that sounds the same live.
This is how she sounds live. The lack of emotion in the recording is fully intentional, and is an attempt to convey passion and numbness at the same time.
What will blow your mind is that the live version is better than the studio version.
They say she hits the centre of each note...pitch perfect. Note too that she doesn't require pitch correction...apparently what you hear from studio recordings is same live.
You guys need to see her sing this live. It is just as pure.
There's a live version on this on RUclips that is every bit as good if not better..Alison is a genius.
You're mustaken....listen to it live...she's just as pure, the harmonies are perfect
Have they heard her sing with Vince Gill? They blend so well
Check out her version of "Til I Gain Control Again" live

The reason you don't hear the pain in the song because the song is about being so numb over the loss of someone that you are just existing.
You should really look into the history and resume of Alison Krause and Union Station. She does this song live and sounds no different
Absolute American icon, virtuoso Violinist, award winning singer.Live version is awesome.
She’s just as good live as she is in the studio
Check our her collab with Robert Plant or with Vince Gill, wonderful.
Union Station sang the Soggy Bottom Boys in Oh Brother Where Art Thou.
Alison has 27 Grammys.
Her best is River In The Rain.
One of the best song ever performed
Shenandoah made it famous and it sang by a male very good listen
Allison has a beautiful voice but i prefer shenandoahs 1990s version. I wore out 2 cassette tapes of that song and other Shenandoah songs. Wife got me the album on CD afterwards.
She is feeling....dead. Deep mourning. Deep sorrow. Deep loss.
loved your breakdown and analysis. I would love for you to listen to Some songs by New Grass Revival. Like These Days or a woman's love or Reach. Great lead vocals and harmonies
Thanks for the recs!
I understand Wick's comments, but I really don't know of any rock/other groups that would capture this song with justice.
The thing about Alison is the studio versions are nothing compared to hearing her live.
Guess that is exactly the way the believer in an afterlife would sing, even if there is an instance someone came back. This is deeper than I could read into it, and I love that. Thank you Paul for your awesome insight!
Check Alison live... there is not much diference in her vocals.

Listen to her live version
What's DONE is that her lover has died. And the loss goes on.
Brother I do not kid you… When they play live it doesn’t sound any different than the studio and there is no autotune. They don’t believe in it
Renee Fleming loves Alison.
The live version is better.
She is bluegrass and a lot of gospel
Jeez. You guys are certainly pleased with yourselves, aren't you?
She sounds just like that live lol
she sounds as good live
Live is exactly the same
* Alison Krauss
(What I get for outsourcing the uploads 🤣)
Stop talking and just enjoy! 5:44
Can you please react to Lisa Stansfield song called The line
