i am not a school spirit type of person but Duke's environmental programs are incredible and really stand out to me, i started tearing up when i discovered they had a LEMUR CENTER. I'd really like to go. The 6% acceptance rate is dreadful, but I'll put all my effort into the application.

We just sent one of our daughters to Duke. During the brief couple of hours we spent at Duke to help get her settled in, the school spirit was almost suffocating. As a lifelong introvert and self-admitted misanthrope of society, that kind of expectation of the students to be 🥳is not my thing, but as long as it helps create a positive environment for her, fine. Better her than me, I told my wife.

I have started a community robotics organization with a descent amount of students, and promoted it, but it doesn't seem comparable to organizing pep rallies and marching band formations.
I think you can actually reframe it and say: "As a homeschooler, I've never had the chance to truly engage in school spirit -> that's why I can't wait to do so at Duke!"
Heyy im in the 5th sem of my undergrad right now, ive got great academics- top 2 perfent of my class, a research paper that im trying to publish, many co- curriculars and NGO volunteering. I want to get into the MMS program at duke (fall 2025), i havent given gmat yet, i dont know if ill get a 700 score and the deadline is january 14th for international students. Do you think i should wait for a year and work on strengthening my profile and work on getting a great gmat and ielts for fall 2026?
