Duke is my dream school, but I have many years till I can apply and I want to make sure that I get an early start to improving so that I have a greater chance of getting accepted. This definitely helped me, thank you so much!
Good for you! Make sure to have the best grades! I recommend no lower than a 3.95 gpa (uw of course) and to take the most challenging classes available at your school. Do things your love and have a specific passion! (make sure you have leadership roles). Make strong connections with your teachers! Please prep for the SAT now! It will help! Lastly, follow your own path. Don't do things you will hate, and don't let anybody judge you on what you decide to in high school (including your friends) Good luck!
Same it’s been my dream school for a long time. And I’m not even in high school yet lol. But I am really trying to work hard to maybe get in when the time comes.
Take the act or sat early and often if your finances allow (you could also get waivers for the fee from your school counselor if that’s an issue). As long as you have time you can get a great score with some hard work, not impossible, you can get any score you want with the right mindset. Good luck !
I'm really glad to hear that. From what I've gathered there's a lot of contradicting statements regarding acceptance and gpa requirements for collages on the internet. Just wondering though, do you mind telling me what your gpa is? Mine is usually around 3.7.
@@quantumecho2456 I have a 4.0 UW and a 30 ACT which I didn't submit I didn't have great ECS but I have good essays lors and extenuating circumstances my friend who was valedictorian with a 4.0 36 act and tons of ECS was deferred I really think if u have decent stats your essays and LOR can get you in. College Vine would have said with his 36 act and ECS which they would have ranked highly that he had a far better chance than me but they can't rank essays and LORS and so I think as long as you have a decent GPA which a 3.7 is good you can do whatever you want as long as some part of your application is telling the school you deserve to be there and have good personal merits
I have the grades for duke, however it worries me that just because I didn’t start up an award-winning business or was the captain of multiple academic clubs I may not be accepted. What if I have limited options or am financially struggling?
Then you're just another person with excuses and don't belong. They want student's that find solutions and could inspire others in similar situation to pull through. That is what makes a successful person and what they want.
Just try to show that you're making the most out of what's available to you. It's well established that these elite schools do have a rather fortunate student population in regards to the opportunities available to them but they still will pull students that either have a lot of talent or have just showed character and interest in some sort of way. I had a friend go to Brown and another to Stanford purely off of their deep and demonstrated interest in their field despite not having won or done anything spectacular (still had amazing grades, but that's just the baseline). Bottom line, just make the most of what you have and prove your interest and ambition in something.
I suck at school but really wanna get a full ride scholarship to duke from playing basketball I’m a freshman in highschool hopefully I can make it one day🙏🙏🙏💯💯💯
If you are a top recruit, your parents can get a house. And you can also get away with rape. And if you are related to Coach K, you can drive drunk with no penalty.
There should be an additional information section on the common application, that is the space specifically designed to mention important facts or circumstances that didn’t fit elsewhere. That’s where your explanation should go. Hope this helps, good luck! 😁
I am doing AP classes, in total I would be doing 5. My GPA is around a 3.95, I do Concert Orchestra and I can speak three languages. I am planning to finish a 150 community service hours. Do you think I will make it?
Thanks for the amazing video. Duke is my dream University, and I didn't partake in many activities while in high school, I graduated from high school recently, and I decided to use this free period to make my activities stronger, so choosing the early decision would not give me enough time to make my activity stronger, do you suggest I just add the little activities I did in high school and apply early or make the list stronger and apply regular Thank you
No. I am a senior at Duke. Took 5 AP courses but only submitted one AP score to Duke. Took no subject tests and only submitted by ACT score which was a 33. Admission officers commented on my essays and experiences so stats are just one thing.

You don't have to worry about being gay. A lot of people go there who are gay. I know of one who was flamboyantly gay. I saw same sex couples holding hands walking around the wall. Also I saw a same sex couple openly kissing on campus

i got in, mostly because of a 4.65 gpa and 35 act, but without any great extra curriculars so duke is mostly academic focused

Is there a recommended number of AP classes I should take to get accepted into Duke? Thank you.
I took ten but it depends on the amount your school offers

@@lf6392how many did your school offer?
Does it accept high schools from Australia pls answer
yes, all US universities do
I have my Duke interview tomorrow 💀🤞
HOW DID IT GO??
You get in?
Will being president of a club and doing many clubs help me stand out?
Is lying required if you're applying for an athletic scholarship?
Absolutely do not do that, your skills will definitely be exposed down the line and plus schools can look into your academic and athletic record.

Probably, but I don’t see how that would help you.

I’m not gay but I would. It’s a catholic school and probably favors people of those values
Sexual orientation doesn’t often come up in the college admissions process
