    Maybe it's because I am from North Carolina, but literally no one thinks Duke is public. I've never heard that.

      You might be right. But I have found that Duke is not very well understood outside of the south.

    hi i've been watching all your videos and they've been super helpful in narrowing down what exactly i want in a college, prestigious or not! could you do overviews on small liberal art colleges as well? (Amherst, Pomona, Swarthmore, Bowdoin, etc.)

    50% white is less white than the country as a whole, making Duke more diverse than it is representative of national demographics. So the amount of white or “partially white” students is not an indicator of a lack of diversity.

    • @IvyAdmissionHelp
      @IvyAdmissionHelp  5 месяцев назад +3

      Statistically it's less diverse than other similar top-tier universities such as those in the Ivy League.

    @Ivy Admission Help: when are you coming to visit Japan? Now is the time to visit because of the strong dollar. I’m an American who has been living in Japan for over 28 years. I’m from Los Angeles and graduated from UCLA. My two sons will be applying to Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Stanford, Yale, UPenn, Duke, and Columbia for fall 2026. We will contact you after May for advice. We wish you and your family good health and great prosperity in 2025

    Notre Dame has great success with the dorm-centric model. I was on campus recently for the first time and I was thoroghly impressed with the sense of community across all residence halls , pride the students have in respect to whichever hall they belong to , and genuine love the entire student body has for one another. It was a special place and probably the number one reason why ND students and alum love their university so much. Duke will be fine.

    Since you have to apply to the Robertson program at the same time you're applying to Duke in senior year, does it lower your chance of getting in or can you get accepted into duke but not the program?

    • @IvyAdmissionHelp

      Applying for the scholarship will not impact whether or not you get accepted into Duke.

    Data from Duke from 2024 shows this breakdown by subregion:
    Central 2.8%
    Midwest 5.7%
    Northeast 27.7%
    South 33.8%
    Southwest 10.8%
    West 14.3%
    So it is not factually correct that this is strong Southern school. If you compare by region, you get this data which clearly shows that the Northeast and West are over-represented while the South and mostly Midwest, are under-represented. I invite you to modify this in your next edition, Lin Giralt, Duke '77:
    Region Duke class 2027 US Population Over/(Under)
    Midwest 5.7% 20.60% -72.33%
    Northeast 27.7% 17.10% 61.87%
    South 35.3% 38.60% -8.65%
    West 26.4% 23.60% 11.86%

    • @IvyAdmissionHelp
      @IvyAdmissionHelp  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for this info. My point, however, was not that Duke had a disproportionate number of southern students compared to the national population, but compared to other top-tier universities.
      Looking at comparable data, for example, I see that 48% of Duke undergrads come from the South (I lumped in New Mexico and Arizona and other such schools into this calculation). By comparison, the number of southern students at other "Top 20" universities looks more like this: UPenn (11%), Brown (14%), and Columbia (22%). That represents a significant difference in geographical diversity.
      Not saying it's better or worse; it's just something to know.

      @@IvyAdmissionHelp Other top-tiers locate upper east. Why would the good student in southern America go to far?
      We don't compare Stanford with Ivy. Duke is Duke.

    This isn’t completely accurate. The Greek life wasn’t kicked off and they still have freshman rush The Greeks left because they didn’t want to conform to the schools demands of soph 2nd semester rush and they had some restrictions during covid. The sororities and fraternities disenfranchised and are now Durham Panhellenic instead. Of affiliated with Duke. My daughter attends Duke.
