    Aging. Ugh. I don’t want to be my younger self either. And I’m getting to a place where I’m having to accept certain realities about being an older person (56). Not willing to just ‘let myself go’ but also realizing that if we are lucky enough to grow old there is no escaping aging! And also realizing it’s ok :) I have clients really having a struggle with this that are older than me. And I see it’s such a waste of time and energy. You can be older and still be amazing. And they are!! But they are fixated on looking young. So it’s definitely been an education for me.:)

      Yes absolutely, aging is a privilege!
      I try to see it as living different chapters in my book. In thinking of it this way, I notice there seem to be pros and cons of each age range; I like my mind now, and I look forward to storing even more knowledge in my brain in the future! But I’m starting to get some of those body pains, and that’s…well, it’s not my favorite. But it’s all a part of the book - gotta keep on writing/appreciating where I am! ☺️

      Agree! I’m a nurse and know that aging is absolutely a privelage not afforded to everyone. That said, I’m going down kicking and screaming! I want to be as healthy inside and out so that I can remain as independent as possible!

    SK2 works! I used it since I was 26-27 yo. I’m turning 38 this year and people think I am younger than 30 yo. It’s expensive but 1 bottle full size can last for 12-14 months, use twice daily, splash on palm. Just use the essence, you don’t need the rest. Hope this helps ^^

      There are Galactomyces dupes these days that are much cheaper and cruelty free.
      I'm using the Mizon First Essence and there's also Secret Key.
      You won't have to feel like you have to be so frugal with it.
      Also, I'm 40 and people often tell me I look under 30. Tretinoin, peptides, niacinamide, Vit C and SPF work too :)

    I would love to pick your brains with some questions.
    As someone else mentioned here, we rarely hear K beauty and mature skin together. The anti-aging properties of most ingredients seem to be preventative in that they need to be used before the signs set in. Can you point out which ingredients can actually be used on mature skin to address issues like wrinkles, fine lines, age spots or loss of tone after they have occurred.(not to reverse but to slow down or arrest)
    Is mugwort actually useful for mature skin? If one is already using L-ascorbic acid, do the products for blemish control with only vitamin C help?

(Using your method, I think it is helping my non-rosacea redness, and LOVE using the Dr. C toner as a later, almost à moisturizing step. Keep them coming! WOW you look so glowing and beautiful!! 💖💖
    I noticed that Some by Mi has a retinol product that also contains some retinal. I recently tried to order the BoJ eye cream, but it was out of stock. I ordered the Some by Mi eye cream because the ingredients seem comparable to the BoJ eye cream.
    I may be more balanced being older (well except for my current breakdown because I don't have my emotional support pooch) but I may still need to go to some "addicted to skin care products" rehab. 😂 I was trying to cut back, but then Merlin passed, so I took some money left over from saving for him and did some "make myself feel better" shopping. Thank you for all the info, as always!! ❤

    Definitely going to jump on trying this sunscreen and eye cream!! I’m so often disappointed by eye creams not being occlusive enough!
    It’s funny that it’s compared to the la mer. Honestly, I’ve only ever heard anybody put that stuff down lol so I was blown away when I tried a sample and actually liked it. 😂 that didn’t prompt me to purchase it, but it did make me realize that my skin likes mineral oil which helped me discover my favorite soothing overnight cream avene xeracalm balm! 😍
    I think you said it before and I agree that there comes a point with ingredients where you can spend more but it’s not gonna get any better that is where devices come in because they are far more worth it in the long run as long as they stay working!!

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  11 месяцев назад +1

      Ok if you find most eye creams not occlusive enough…you are absolutely going to loooove the Heimish. It puts occlusive night creams to shame!

    I'd love to see a video about Milia due to heavy moisturizers. I think that is why I get them. I thought they were an allergic reaction. Now I am not sure.

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  9 месяцев назад +1

      It’s technically keratin that is stuck under the skin. Not really an allergy, but it is one of those things that some folks experience more than others. Typically, it occurs around the eye area in those who develop it, so eye creams are formulated to be lighter in consideration of this possibility. Hope that helps!

    Thanks for this Alice, I am 47 (aaaahhh) and it is wonderful to have K-Beauty options to incorporate into my routine as my skin is evolving everyday, every week, every year with the changes far more noticeable and it happens so quickly. I do use tretinoin, Vitamin C and Glycolic acid (not together obviously 😂). I still need plenty of hydration and some additional ‘oomph’ now as my hormones are having their pre-retirement parties, so I never know what hangover my skin will have. • @ashleylamb1000
      @ashleylamb1000 11 месяцев назад

      @@paulayarbrough6930 I can see that being a strong reason. I know retinal in general has a yellow color to it. It's one of the ways that you can tell how strong the retinal is. I also know Peach & Lily like to use Turmeric in their skincare as well. I mix it with my moisturizer as I have very sensitive skin, so I don't tend to notice it too much. If you are looking for other options, CosRx, Isntree & Beauty of Joseon all have very nice retinol products!

    Alice, I personally think that k-beauty for mature skin is a difficult topic to explain for western consumers, because it treats the subject in a more holistic way and it is difficult to see it from a western point of view in which we think more of active ingredients that transform the skin such as the incorporation of acids, vitamin C, retinoids, etc. But the k beuty treats mature skin holistically. Thank you for your recommendations and I really want to try the Manyo ampoule and everything from Donginbi. Alice, have you tried anything Isa knox, The History of Whoo, O HUI or SU:M 37? Alice, I'm trying Missha's essence, the Chogongin, and I'm liking how it leaves my skin, but you have to put a drop all over your face, because it's hard for it to absorb. I think the Sulwhasoo serum has a better texture, but I can't say that I've noticed any change, because it's been a short time, but I can say that I've never tried anything so nourishing on my skin. 🥰

As for whether it’s worth it for additional benefits, it really depends on the device in question as they all target different concerns. La Mer user here🙋‍♀
    Though I'm also a toner/essence addict largely thanks to K Beauty.
    La Mer's original cream actually healed my chronically dry skin under my nose last winter. It did what no other cream could and I had used many (Clinique, In Your Face, Peter Thomas Roth, Elemis, Proven). Our winters here are long, cold, and dry (Alaska) and if you have mature, dry, sensitive rosacea-prone skin like I do, the winter wreaks havoc on your skin. I discovered La Mer last November and am now a dedicated user of certain products (treatment lotion, genaissance infused lotion, their emulsion, creams, and serums). I don't like their eye creams very much.
    I don't use La Mer exclusively by any means and have incorporated products from all price ranges (drug store, French pharmaceutical, UK, Hungary, Canada, K & J Beauty). Oh and La Mer's cleansers are mediocre at best. There are so many better options out there!
    One of the greatest game changers for my skin was discovering the K Beauty layering method for toners/essences and serums. Also: CENTELLA and MUGWORT! My skin loves both of these. Also watch several Derms on RUclips and follow their skincare recs as well (Dr Dray, & Dr Shereene Idriss and a few other less notables)
    I like taking the time out for my skin and thus my routines show it lol. I'm FINALLY at the old-ass age of 56 beginning to incorporate a mild retinol (Stratia's nightshift) as I've been afraid my skin would HATE it given the rosacea and hypersensitivity. So far so good.
    I have that Thank You Farmer Gel and Cream btw. It's a wonderful product!

      Thank you for sharing! It makes sense in my mind to have a routine with a mix of affordable and higher end products. For example, I just can’t imagine going back to high end cleansers (love my drugstore ones lol), but will I follow a $15 cleanser with SK-II? Yes, yes I will 🤣 So I can see La Mer alongside K-Beauty making for a lovely routine
      And yes the layering method is such a good way to get the most from toners/essence!

    Hi. I am late to the party as far as Korean and Japenese skin care is concerned. Have been binge watching a lot of your videos (thank you) and a few others - and this got me so excited that I ordered too many products all at once.
    Then I learned about the more expensive lines - eeks- the temptation ! The Doginbi line is on my wishlist, once I work through what is yet to arrive !!
    I guess by then I will know what works for me. It would be better to spend money on a few good choices and be content.
    I was intrigued by A.H C -Ten Revolution Real eye cream for face and A.H C. Premier Ampoule in eye cream, which are their 10th and 11th generation eye cream.(RUclipsr - Odile Monod - The Monodist) I heard that they bring out a new version every year but still produce the older versions for those who prefer not to switch. I will share my experience once I start using them (bought both since I could not decide).

    • @geethaparasuram6338
      @geethaparasuram6338 10 месяцев назад +1

      @fedoua5243 Hi. Some background. I used an eye cream for the 1st time last year, to take care of crepey upper lid skin (would move and stay wrinkled while applying eye shadow), dark circles and under eye crepey skin and wrinkles. I used the NIOD's fractionated eye contour concentrate and topped it with my night moisturizer. No change after a year !
      I have only been using AHC for 2 weeks. The hydration and plumping of the skin are very good.
      The upper lid has improved a lot and does not wrinkle up when the eyeshadow brush moves on it. I see more of my upper lid as a smooth surface and am wondering if there is more lift to my hooded eyes.
      The under eye darkness has reduced. Puffiness has reduced. The fine lines and wrinkles under my eyes are smoothing out at a pace I am happy with.
      I did not have much crow's feet to start with but now I don't see them at all (until I crinkle my eyes) The little dark line going down from the outer corner of my eyes have faded - so the eyes don't look droopy.
      The best part is that when I look at my face as a whole, the eyes and the skin around it look taut, toned and firmer and no longer tired looking and sagging.(At this point in time, I have also started using korean brand hydrating toners, snail mucin, serums & moisturizers)
      I think the results you may see depend on how your skin is to start with. Good luck! Hope this helps !

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  9 месяцев назад

      Hmm, well a couple options. One is you could start with a more hydrating base, which will increase the speed of absorption of your ceramide products. It could also be impacted by something else in your routine. For example, I found the new Haruharu sunscreen to be quite tacky-until I figured out that the tackiness was occurring when I applied it over heavy moisturizer (works just fine over light moisturizer!)
      I’ll also add that some products are simply formulated with a heavier/more tacky feel. You could look for lighter ceramide products, perhaps?
