    The simple fact that smith (of whom was in the ring with jones) and couldn't tell the press what happened, "to save his life". It's simple what happened and here's the answer. Jones (systematically), took away whatever Smith wanted to do and slowly turned him into a defensive-fighter. He does that to everyone that he faces. He litterally follows bruce lee's fight philosophy and becomes "formless" like water. It's an absolute thing-of-beauty.

      The technique and strategy of Jones is incredible to watch. It's telling that he has to apologize for not delivering sensational "performances" because he is so good that he neutralizes his opponents.

      @@raycornett5854 you think Jones would have taken a DQ victory if Smith illegally kneed him?

      @@gladiatorsrage99 ~ Disgraceful? Matt Hamill took the DQ against Jon Jones and Yushin Okami took the DQ against Anderson Silva. Both were very respectable fighters. There are dozens of fighters in the history of the sport that have taken DQ's even when the fight could have continued. The win makes your record better and gives you a better chance of getting paid more in the future. Who cares about what fans or other people think. At the end of the day, you fight to win...it shouldn't matter how you do it.

      Correct! This was the complete opposite of the game plan developed by his team. Simply put, Smith lost the mental battle and ended up defeating himself. Its called performance anxiety!
      Smith was paralyzed out there. He was breathing so heavily, despite doing so little striking. Once Jones realized that he was not going to punch back, it was game over.

    • @Sixsoul
      @Sixsoul 5 лет назад +2

      @@tropickman it was less performance anxiety and more the accumulation of Jon's relentless attacks. The first round, especially the first half of the first round, Anthony looked great. The thing with Jon is his range is on another level he measures distance with his hands beautifully even if you load up on your best shots he can’t counter with his hands or with some kind of high kick to the head or spinning kick to the body he can hit you with his elbow in the clench I seen him shoulder this guy in the face and it was a thing of beauty I hear him say he’s beatable but he dominated the entire fight once they review the tape on this he’s going to figure out how to knock this man out

    Can't believe all the comments saying Jones ran over Smith. He did no such thing. Smith's failure was some kind of mental block. He wasn't getting badly hurt even when he was making no offense. Anyone else would come out unconscious and beaten to a bloody pulp if they gone against Jon Jones without attacking.
    If Smith was able to actually attack even in the fifth round he was capable of challenging Jones. He just didn't do it.
    So his defense and durability is fine. He has shown he knows how to attack in other fights. The big problem is his mind. From my own experience I'd say it could partially be work capacity too, as whenever I'm gasping overwhelmed by continuous grappling in particular my mind goes completely blank and I'm unable to recall even basic techniques and strategy.

    I had Smith possibly winning by a small chance maybe 10%. But by the 3rd round I thought he had 0% of winning. Dude Jones completely you down, basically walked through Smith and was used as a punching bag. I honestly thought Smith's corner was going to throw in the towel for sure at the end of the 4th.
    Idk what he is talking about when he says he didn't look bad. Smith looked like he didn't belong in the at all in the Octagon.
