Great video! As a US collector who had switched away from 1:500 for a while, it was exciting to finally see Frontier, Spirit and more JetBlue releases for my airport diorama. However the retail prices are hard to justify, and I still haven’t been able to bring myself to buy them.

Thanks again dear Bongo fpr your video! I do agree prices are so high and not shows notorios improvement either quality or details... Airplane collection is a luxur.. Its hard to invest on it nowadays when shippimg prices are high and models themself are more expensive...

    Jap
    Weiter so!

Erst mal vielen Dank für deine netten Worte. Das mit der falschen regi auf der box der Finnair ist leider kein Einzelfall sonder ist bei allen modellen die Herpa verkauft der Fall 🤦‍♂️

Who is also here ,after the crazy price increase in the new Batch and thinking:
"man these models are incredibly cheap"

    • @thecriticalaviator977
      @thecriticalaviator977 3 месяца назад

I still think these 2021 models are expensive for what they are. On the other hand, herpa’s prices have only gotten worse since then so I guess we can say the 2021 models are cheap considering what herpa charges now in 2024 and it is likely to get worse. I just hope it won’t come to that.

the etihad dreamliner should not be here because it looks good

    • @BongoPlanes

If we only judge the looks I would agree with you but as I mention in the video the reason for the model being on the list hasn't anything to do with its look.

The Cargolux retro imo was the worst of all. Obviously, QC at herpa does not exist.

No way the D-AILU from 2010 is better...sure the new one has its problems but the old one is even more hideous

Interesting view and although I obviously do not agree I appreciate getting your perspective 👍

@@BongoPlanes Thanks 😊 Yeah the nose shape has never been perfect, although some older models were quite close. I still feel like the WAY better wings (and therefore way better winglet/wingtip fence shape) on the newer mould makes up for any problems (excluding the absolute disaster of the American A321neo) 😅
The main landing gear is noticeably improved from the old days, and although not quite small enough, the front gear isn’t that bad either. It is still worse than the old version, which is weird.
The improvements seen on the engines are, however, stark. I think the CFM engines benefit even more (compared to the IAE) from the new mould, giving them an actually true-to-life characteristics. Old versions looked somewhat small and shapeless.
As far as I’m concerned, the printing quality hasn’t changed that much.
I hope you read this 😅

I try to read all comments 👍 and I understand your reasoning, it does make sense, I would however rather have the older landing gear (which looks way better than then current) and the older mould as it had a much better and more consistent nose shape and then as a trade off have to live with the not quite as detailed wings. Obviously the combination of older mould, older landing gear and new wings would be the ideal model but hey, that is obviously too much to ask for from Herpa 😅

      @@BongoPlanes Yeah I see your point :)
Maybe some day they can perfect the nose shape. My Lufthansa A319 (old mould) has its cockpit windows printed way too high…
