Great list man, and for as much as I ragged on Naruto for how it ended and the whole final war thing, it was also the series that re-ignited my love for manga back when I was a young teen. I remember going into Forbidden planet and picking up a random volume. It so happened to be the volume where Sasuke 'kills' Orochimaru in his bed and I thought it was amazing and so cool. For the longest time now, i've wanted to go back and read it again

I also think that reading the War week-to-week was a little rougher; it was easier to get caught up in some of the messy details and not appreciate the bigger picture, something we now have the luxury of being able to do with the series long since completed.

No, I haven't. Most of the battle shounen on this list were series I've loved for 10+ years, and to be completely honest, I don't really have the time, energy, or willingness to read long-running series anymore, which is why I haven't really considered checking out Gintama despite all the praise it receives.
@@mynameisdoofy I completely understand your reasoning, tbh I often feel like that too, since as you said it is a big commitment to plunge yourself into a fictional world with that sheer big amount of content. If you one day maybe change your mind, I can just wholeheartedly recommend it to you (I prefer the anime over the manga, one of the few anime adaptations which is objectively better than the manga, just because of voice acting alone). I for one have watched/read both, and as the majority also says, I prefer the Anime in basically every way, but the Manga in itself is straight up fire too, so you can't go wrong with either. Since imo Gintama isn't meant to be bingewatched, since its partially episodic or the arcs aren't that long, the majority, but definetely not all, being 2-5 eps it can be watched whenever someone feels like it. So if you ever get the urge to dive into the beautiful and lively world of Gintama, the anime really is the perfect comfort show. Thank you for this nice conversation, keep being awesome my guy! 😄

Definetely worth the commitment tho, I started out as anime only, watched until like 65% of Wano was done, tried to stay with anime but it was literally unbearable to watch because of pacing issues. Then I switched to manga and I don't regret it. I really hope that The One Piece remake from WIT Studio will be a certified banger, because I just prefer Anime overall minus a few exceptions. It will probably have new voice actors for the main Straw Hat Crew, I'm not ready for that. What Viz did to Gintama I'll never understand. I would have definetely collected all volumes otherwise. Because of that, I only read it online through fan translations.
