I prefer the tactile nature of tabletop gaming. Touching the cards, the components, moving pieces around a big beautiful board. And like Shawn said, it feels like you're getting your money's worth bc board games are tangible. I'm no Luddite, I'm glad technology exists, it's just not my cup of tea (for gaming).

      Totally agree, obviously! Lol!
It's similar to how I feel about books...There's nothing wrong with Kindle's and those eBooks, but for me, I prefer the feel and smell of an actual book!

Lord of the Rings , Return to Mines of Moria....loving it ! Starfield...played 30 minutes...haven't played again. The Witcher 3... played twice. I do not like fortnite....minecraft....will not play. Would play a ton more boardgames...if I had a group for the campaigns...Gloomhaven ...Etherfields....Tainted Grail.

Exactly! There are some video games that are great, but more often than not they have been releasing a lot of garbage and I find myself gravitating more towards board games almost as if they're on the rise! But I totally agree with you!

    Board games by far.
As I get up in years my twitch reactions are fading fast. The grandkids run circles around me in video games. Also video games are relying heavily on digital only copies and needing an internet connection to play. I live in rural Ontario with a questionable hydro grid. Board games work just fine by candlelight and once you buy them they are yours forever. Not to mention they travel better for camping trips, family gatherings or just playing out back by the campfire.
Board games are also a great way to pull the grandkids away from the never ending screens and maybe slip a bit of learning in on the side.
And I agree totally with the idea of not getting your money's worth out of video games.
My wife and I were big into World of Warcraft back in the day. 10 years of subscriptions for two totals around $5000 not including the mandatory expansions every couple years. And at the end of it all we have nothing of that. In contrast, I have been a Magic the Gathering player since it's inception. It is probably the most expensive game addiction you could find. But at least I own all the cards I bought and I can quite easily sell of the cards at my local game store for cash or store credit.

That's our view for sure, board games are always available and doesn't require an internet connection. Shawn still plays video games but mainly strategy games similar to board games. We're glad you enjoy our channel! Thank you for the comment!

While I also personally generally prefer boardgames, this is a "whynotboth" situation, IMHO.
On the video game front, I happen to currently enjoy Starfield and Baldur's Gate 3. Diablo IV is an excellent couch co-op experience with my spouse. And the kids and I enjoy other competitive games. But I agree that a lot of time spent gaming can be time spent alone.
I spend a lot of time in front of a screen for my job. It's actually one of the reasons why online boardgame gaming on Boardgame Arena (BGA) does not attact me very much.
As for boardgames, I guess they are only as finished as the playtesting allowed. One of our favourite games, Tapestry, has received multiple "patches" to balance its civilisations. And you can sometimes find improved rules sanctioned by the designers on BGG.
That said, even with all those caveats, I got into boardgaming a dozen years ago because it brings people together around the table. It's tactile. It's immersive. It's a shared experience. And, like you, I feel like I get more satisfaction from spending money on a physical product which I own outright than on a digital one.
Boardgames allow me to spend time with my family, and to attend meet ups and play all kinds of games I don't own with strangers. They are awesome. I love them.

I agree with you Wendy and I do find myself playing with the kids every once in awhile on fortnite or spending time in front of my computer playing Total War Warhammer or No Man's sky. I just find as of late games are being pushed out too quickly and unfinished which leads to backlash in the video game community. We loved the points you made for both sides! Thank you again for supporting us and commenting!!!

Moving away from physical media is definitely not good for video games. People used to buy a $60 game at release, beat it in a week, and sell it to recoup some costs and buy another game. I sell and trade my board games to get new games into my collection constantly. Especially if I thrift a game for $5, I can play it a ton, and if needed sell it for $5, getting a bunch of entertainment at no cost.
