I found a compilation of these on Bury Market a few weeks ago. It's a '60's original on Pye' s old Marble Arch budget label. Their cover of Gordon Lighfoot's Early Morning Rain is excellent.
I remember seeing them singing 'Nowhere Man' on 'The Morecambe and Wise Show' from 1966 (it was a repeat in the 80s) and I've always liked their version of the song. This is an even better clip than that one so thank you for posting! I also like 'Woman Called Freedom', a new one on me. 'The Lightning Tree' was another great song and it's strange they never really became chart regulars.
Thanks for this video. Amazingly I never heard of them before & they are quite good & sound like a poor man's Seekers- that's a compliment. Will be searching for their CDs.
Hi Peter and thanks for putting this on here!!! Where DID you get it from???? And do you have any more of the band? This week seems to have produced tapes I’ve never seen before! ;-)
Cindy! Can’t tell you how much joy your music has brought me. “Major to Minor” is one of the beautiful things I’ve ever heard-what an arrangement, what a performance, what a masterpiece of ‘60s pop.
@@gogarrio Hi and sorry to take so long in replying!!!!!! My bad! I only just saw it today. Thank you for your kind comments - so very kind of you. We had great fun over the eleven years together. Glad we brought joy into your life!! 😊
@@cindykent1143 Hi, Cindy! So ironic you replied just now, as we just arrived late last night after three weeks holiday in London. Something in the air, me thinks.
First song is a real gem, the Beatles cover may be a tribute by the band, but it's not at all my thing: the lyrics require a slower pace, not that of a galoping Black Beauty. The lyrics are melancholic, the instruments though play as if they needed to catch the last bus home. Female singer though is very good.
The Settlers had been going for around about a year when The Seekers came over from Oz. They guested twice on a TV series where we were the resident group. We became mates and they played us I’ll Never Find Another You! We were green with envy!!!!!😊
@@cindykent1143 The Seekers formed with Judith Duhram in 1962 and were recording soon after, doing backing vocals for W&G Records label mates 'Pam & Ade' first before doing their first album 'Introducing The Seekers' in 1963. Athol and Keith had been going as early as the late 50's with a local Melbourne group 'The Escorts'. :)

Absolutely first class. A group that deserves much more recognition. Easily up there with the Seekers!
So great to see this. I saw the Settlers around 1984 at a folk club in Swiss Cottage in London. Thanks for making this available.
HOW IS IT POSSIBLE I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS GROUP?
That was absolutely delightful.... at least they later got some recognition with the Follyfoot Theme.
Glenn Johnson Really lovely.Footage i have never seen. Thanks for this.
I never realised until today that they were so much like The Seekers. A great sound.
More like Peter, Paul, and Mary.

Would be interested to find out if The Seekers came before or after?
Around about the same time (they were probably both influenced by Peter, Paul and Mary).
If you can believe internet as reliable source the Seekers were formed in 1962 and the Settlers in 1964.
