The Evolution of Falconry

- The invention of radio telemetry enabled Steve Chindgren to pursue the hawking of Sage Grouse in a way never before thought possible. Then Marshall Radio's groundbreaking research innovations heralded the dawn of GPS tracking & live monitoring of falcons, and this brought Chindgren into a whole new era of falconry success, and enjoyment. This short film explores that, from the iconic House of Grouse, to the majestic, purple mountain majesty of the Wind River Range bordering the remote expanses of Wyoming's high desert where Steve hunts.

That roll under the fence was sweet!
He saw that the other guy was about to hold open the fence for him and showed the younglin’ how it’s done
Fantastic video! I’m here hawking in Utah! It’s my first year and it’s been so fun!
i know it is kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good site to stream new movies online ?
Deepens the appreciation for the remarkable achievements and fine art of falconers centuries past who lacked such beneficial technology.
Doris and Patrick Leary oh yeah, and makes u wonder what they could have accomplished with and what they’d have given for the technology we have now!
I love the sound of Steve’s voice. It sounds so confident and wise.
Without a doubt, the highest quality and most informative videos available today. I've heard so much about Steve, I never really thought that Id have the opportunity to get this close and absorb. Thank you to those that have made these available.
another epic vid
the sound of the impact is awesome .. strong and beatiful birds
cant wait for the next vid to come.
greets from Austria
Stunning scenery, awesome location, great hawking ! What a place to fly falcons👍 Im flying a first yr tiercel peregrine and been using a normal marshalls system with goshawks for many yrs but might be time to invest☺️
Awesome! Also just realized I live about 3 1/2 hours away from the house of grouse lol I’m flying a red tailed though, not a longwing
Awesome flight
Amazing stuff❤👍
Excellent very nice video
Super!!
Its just wonderful!
Shwooooop!.... thump
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Is the impact sound added in editing? Or is that somehow the actual sound of the dive and strike?
Nice video.. ")
Such cool tech
I still use the old blue box receiver! I've had it since the early eighties. I think it's time for an upgrade.

Really love your videos! Idk where you are all based out of... You most likely have a crazy amount on your plate and not enough time in the day. And if so forgive me... My falconry sponsor might be a fun one for a video one day. He has some incredibly special gyrfalcons you might be interested in seeing and interviewing him in general. 🤷🏼♀️
Your right I wouldn’t ever be without my gps
He looks like he knows what falconry is all about.
I wanna meet Steve someday.
When you use the GPS system (any brand) you must have to pay for it to carry a company phone, right?
The evolution of Falconry. First there were birds, then there was GPS.
Hey guys love the channel watching all the way from ireland here ,, quick question i live in the country side and theres always a bird flying and it just hovers in mid air and then suddenly dives down at great speed and seems to catch a mouse or small mammal what kind of bird or species is it ?I love watching it for hours
A common kestrel!
😉👍
The end is here......When great falconers won't fly without a smart phone.
And what if you cant see your falcon ?
@@mrmurphypiers1241 My comment was to express that electronics are even taking over the ancient sport of falconry. Yes, many good falconers use GPS and love it . but let's remember they started when there was no telemetry at all. Certainly can help as the eyes fade.
What happens if there is no signal and phone is in a dead cell area? This should be addressed thanks, nice video thanks for sharing it.
John Strazicich thankfully GPS does not rely on cellular towers, and regional maps can be pre-loaded where you have service or WiFi. While it requires a cellular-enabled device for GPS connectivity, the Marshall GPS system does not require a cellular data plan to be activated in order to function. Cheers 👍
@@FalconryTold Marshall Gps has been out quite some time now nothing new here. Also other telemetry companies are building similar systems now. Marshall are ahead of the curve though for now.
Mr Murphy Piers ?
GPS👍🦅🎉
What flew off the nest was it a owl ?
This is just a commercial for the telemetry equipment.
Marshall is very overpriced it’s great kit but the way they are ramping up prices the last couple of years has put me off.
Nas
Just bad ass birds quite simply...no wonder I can paint and draw birds of prey for a living.
Dark phase.
