I have the updated S7 in blue with the white single coils and zebra humbucker that you mentioned. A new feature on this version is a push-push tone control to split the humbucker to a single coil. Really enjoy that versatility!
Overall a great guitar for the price! Thanks for the honest review showing what you don’t like - much appreciated!
Really interesting ! Thanks for your honest and real world review !
thanks for sharing that about the top horn digging into the body - helpful for when not able to try them out in person
Great review, good points well made too, superb looking and sounding guitar.
Great detailed review! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I have a t7. Once I had a proper setup done on it, the guitar is just as good as 1400.00 fenders I've played. Highly recommend.
I just bought a S7, single coils, I got a great price from GC. I think it was a floor demo, because it needed a proper setup, I adjusted almost everything on this guitar, but after a couple of hours, it sounded as great. I really like it, and it's better made than an entry level Fender for sure.
It’s much higher quality and better spec than a Player series for sure!
I ordered the S7 FM Transparent Blue, waited 11 months to get...well worth the wait!
Yes!
My S7 is on her way, adding to the collection. I absolutely love my L7 from Sire.
I also own a L7 and im now looking for a s7 haha, any things you bumped in too?
@@Rik-theking not at all. They are both incredible players. I absolutely love the fretboards on them, it’s like they literally spent extra time on that. It sounds incredible though. Enjoy it!
You can buy the s-7 in traditional also. That is an FM series. FM for flamed maple cap.
They all look fantastic with great specs. Fender is worried about everything lately. And perhaps they should be. Other companies showing what prices should be for quality is definitely a threat. Great video. Thank you brother.
I saw your video on the Van Halen. Great stuff! Thanks for watching - I have a “custom shop” Chender strat coming. Stay tuned :D
@@TheMixWithABD Very cool! I will definitely be checking that out! Thanks brother 🙏
Interesting! He convinced me to choose the fender.
Thanks for the vid. Can you compare it to a G&L Tribute Legacy HSS?
Same pickup config and price range. Thanks!!
That thing is gorgeous
You mentioned the floating trem, I was wondering if the strings go flat when you do compound bends, like on a Floyd Rose?
I’m not quite sure what you’re asking
I freaking want that S7 FM baaaad!
is the neck construction same like the fenders? Meaning the screw spacing when bolting to the body. If they are standard fender spacing, you could always just buy a fender neck replacement from shops like Warmoth if you don't like the stock glossy neck.
I very highly doubt it. But it’s possible. I didn’t try fitting a fender neck to it lol
I have the same guitar ... :-) .. I always played gibson but this guitar is also a very good buy ! It plays very light in compare to my gibsons
Thank you. The SC is not Noiseless, i guess.
What’s up with the static?
Just picked up an S7 and a T7 from Sweetwater both in Transparent Blue Flame Maple. Better than ANY Fender I've ever played RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.
Can we hang out? lol you’re about to have a great week
Thanks a lot dude 😒 thanks to you I'm down $500. Just ordered one. Haha nice video
Yes!, Sire all the way 😊
I have the S7FM and yes it’s better than any Fender I have or played!!!
but then... u ll want a good Fender. psychology
@zackpack8 my main guitar is a Chinese hollowbody. For 20 years now. I have this sire strat, perfect, but probably, bc of the tons of lacquer, I dont feel d guitar. Then I have 3-4 MIJ strats and Chinese and Vnese guitars as well. All of them have their own charm
I got the S7 vintage instead (3 single coils, 3 knobs, traditional strat) and have to say it's about the best guitar I've ever played at any price. Really sweet.
I love Sire guitars and basses. My V7 first gen is the best bass I’ve ever played. Don’t need another bass in my life. I’m all set lol. I got it back when you could only buy directly from their site. Incredible instruments.
@@TheMixWithABD Yeah, me too, my first V7 was in the original batch, #99, signed neckplate by Marcus himself! I've got 6 Sire basses now, and 2 guitars with 2 more coming!
where is the phone jack out? The side mounting is a deal breaker for me. Only top works bc I usually sit down.
@@ymelfilm Sire has never included a phone jack out, but I'm pretty sure their active models put out enough to drive headphones using a regular 1/4" to 1/8" adapter. Have you tried that? Of course, the Sire guitars are all passive, I'm thinking the basses here. I don't think most guitarists or bassists want a dedicated headphone output onboard.
@@ymelfilm yes it’s side jack. Like a les Paul
I don't think you have to apply any finish to roasted maple neck/fingerboard except a fine oil if you want to.
I thought so too but I have a roasted maple board that was totally full of wear after only two years. I have a video about it coming.
The S3's neck is just as nice and has better specs than the mim fenders for only $399.
Just bought a brand new s3 on reverb 2m ago. Love hearing this
@@jackfriedman3877 You Will Love it! The neck edge and fret ends are much better than a mim fender's.
So after so many hours of trial and error, I found quite a few defects with it and I'm considering returning it to be honest.
so I was mega hyped by this guitar and everyone on the internet had only good things to say about it , I like how it sounds but for someone that is used to play an Ibanez S520 for almost 10 years, this guitar seems like a downgrade to be honest ..... where to start:
- ah yea, the damn tremolo didn't fit unless I literally hammered it in with a rubber mallet because of a fabrication defect (i had looked inside the tremolo hole and it wasn't finished so a lot of metal is in there)
- the action was too high and when I adjusted it a bit lower the frets started buzzing like hell
- the backplate is not cut properly, I noticed this while re-stringing the guitar
- scratchy frets, so while playing it and doing some good 'ol regular bends I immediately got cringed by the feel of starching strings over the frets ( i guess this will go away in time but it's horrible )
So all of these for me are kind of a deal-breaker, however I will take the guitar to a skilled luthier and let him give it a go at it and then play with it some more. I'm sorry to make this post into a rant but I'm extremely disappointed.
Despite of all the above I do have some good things to say about the guitar:
- it sounds awesome, the s-s-h combo makes it an incredible versatile instrument and I really enjoyed so far the sounds it came out of it (this is the main reason I decided to give it another swing and postpone the return of the guitar)
- locking tuners
- electronics are super responsive and I love it (volume/tone/switch are good quality)
- the neck feels good
- the overall design & visuals are great
Conclusion: I got way too hyped for what it has to offer in terms of price/quality, at first contact I am disappointed but looking forward to test it more after I take it to my luthier and have him take a look of all the issues I'm having with it. Again this is my initial review of the guitar and I will follow up later.
after giving it some patience and setup, i am now pretty happy with it and it has became my main guitar :-D
I know this is an old comment but just want to give some advice regarding correcting action/string height. After adjusting the truss rod, you should then be going to the bridge to adjust the saddles for intonation - which would also correct the buzz you got from changing the truss rod.
@@h0zzle327
I adjusted the neck on my guitar but the strings hit the frets so I adjusted the saddles up and they're still hitting the frets' and I noticed that the strings are hitting the neck pickup also and there was no way of adjusting it so I took the pickguard off and chilled some wood out then tried to raise the saddles up more and the screws fell out so I put them back in and tried to adjust the neck some more but the adjuster screw on the neck wouldn't get any tighter and ended up stripping out' I ended up ordering a new neck but the one they sent me has 4 screws holding it on and wouldn't fit because on mine the neck is solid with the body. Everybody tells me I should knock the nut out and put a 9/16 socket in it's place and use it for playing slide but I don't want to ruin my guitar and I don't know how to play slide. Any advice how to fix it?
Personally, I think white pearloid is over-used and often not the most attractive match for the finishes it covers. But those Sires sound really appealing, and I kinda wish I had waited, and saved up, and bought a Sire instead of a Squier.
Hola campeon saludos de stgo de Chile. Estoy en la duda este modelo o una fender mexico.
Tengo una tele fender americana que suena muy bien pero ahora la serie americana el valor esta muy mut caro.
Pensaba en este modelo
Subjective but I think they are streets ahead of the player series.
They are
@@TheMixWithABD Been toying with the idea of getting one even though I'm not a strat guy that's how much I liked playing it.
@@Aries_Alpha it does feel like a strat made with lp players in mind
Dude, when you showcase guitars, but do so with zippers, buckles and metal snaps.........?
It’s called rock and roll baby
Answer No! ❤
@@devinsinderwitcz9134 no. I’ve had one and my Mexican player + kicks ass
If I see another fender copy I’ll PUKE
...and here I thought the FM was referring to Donald Fagen's song. Why? Because I always assumed it was Larry Carlton on that song. Joke's on me!
That’s amazing. Love how our minds work sometimes
By the time u change the pickups and put stainless steel fretts better to buy a good guitar
I think the pickups are good, also, there's no need to refret a guitar just to have stainless steel frets.
The frets on this guitar are very nice quality, they feel almost like Stainless steel actually.
I wouldn't buy a guitar based on whether it has stainless steel frets or not but I certainly would have paid an extra $30 for them lol
Looks 3000$ guitar
U need to change the pickups
I actually think these pickups are great. Maybe a little high output though.
The guitar is kitschy, influenced by Asian taste. The top fanciness, the binding with the sharp side around all you mentioned just freak me out. I was ok with normal maple or rosewood fretboards, as they are much more visible on stage environments. Lovking tuner does not help much for tuning stability either, for me, total useless
I never want to see that heap of shit again in my house.
Not good, do not buy them.
My story. Beginning of September I purchased one from Thomann SIRE S7 HSS. To my dismay the action was nearly half inch high, electrical configuration was a disaster both dials stop at 5 not 10 dull sound from G string on fret one and two. So sent it back and they sent me back same guitar action dropped perfectly but dials still messed up , quiet frankly they are a heap of shit. It’s also a 50/50 of getting a perfect guitar online so my advice is. No matter how far away you are before you purchase online to go to a store and play them and deposit on the guitar you want to buy or just buy it there . Because if you have to send it back for the second time your faith is gone on the guitar you have never even played yet. Now I go for refund and never buy a Sire ever again . Absolutely the crappiest guitar I bought and anyone on RUclips telling me that they got no discount or a free guitar perfectly designed and checked before they put it on RUclips are joking me. The time I spent 6 weeks total to send it back and now I send back this heap of crap also and refund my money and now I travel over 300km to try other guitars like fender Strat MN for and extra 280€ What a disaster of 6 weeks and now another month of travelling to find a left hand that I can play and feel good about when I play it. Please and I say please again do not purchase from anywhere online, go to the store and purchase it there.
The lacquered fretboard is a deal breaker for me. Just my opinion, of course, but I feel it makes a guitar look cheap.
Strong disagree. Gotta have it on maple. I have Fender necks with it and it feels great. It does look a bit cheaper maybe on the Sire.
@@TheMixWithABD since when do you gotta have it? I have many without and they are fine.
@@flogginga_dead_horse4022 are you sure the ones you have don’t have a very thin coat? With no finish on the maple, it wears very quickly and you get grooves in the board
@@TheMixWithABD yeah, I meant it's more of a satin finish than a super shiny layer. It's not maple straight from a tree :P
Yea I’ve had maple boards that were just straight maple. The strings eat into the wood lol
no offense but there have been a million Strat copies over the years and Fender is fine. I hate the Sire headstocks and shiny fretboards but thats just me.
I don't hate the headstock but the shiny fretboard is indeed cheap and uncomfortable looking. I like the flame maple top and I think Fender could lean more into patterned wood besides their sunbursts. I think Fender needs to be more worried about alternative guitar designs than copies of their own models.
Surely the sound and playability of any guitar are the most important factors to consider? Stating that "Fender is fine" is simply not true. The inconsistencies from guitar to guitar are sometimes huge with Fenders of all price ranges, from the most basic up to custom shop.
@@seanandben by Fender is fine I actually meant they don't seem to have to worry about this kind of competition.
no better headstock shape than Fenders'
@@emulgatorx even though glossing it, its an extra unnecesary step, which helps on playing and durability?
