There were monster guitar players in the 70´s that led the way to many others in the 80´s and 90´s, some well known for been incredibly versatile, some others for their ability to produce legendary masterpieces, but for that time, nobody played as fast (with a clear sound) as Alvin Lee and Rory Gallagher. Gods of the 70´s.
WOW-first time ive ever even heard this song-thats sad i know.just blew me away-just what i needed-was feelin soo down.sheer freakin awesomeness! unfriggin believable talent...holy god thats fantastic stuff!!
Man o man o man o man!!!!!! Thank you for posting this video! No body but no body rocks like Alvin and TYA! Its one band I never got to see back in the day and seen many since 1970.
My first album I heard by Ten Years After was SSHHH,damn what a wonderful album that was, I fell in love with their music the first time I heard it, then Watt,Stonehedge,Cricklewood Green every album they released I had. Alvin's playing was nothing short of brilliant and the rest of the band kicked ass.Their music will live forever
thanks a lot for this wonderful post ! alvin is an eternal extraordinary musician that never had the proper recognition! he is a god of rock a complete idol and a very nice human being! anything from him is awesome!
TYA's interpretations of Willie Dixon's "Help Me" is a wonderful, slow paced, heavy & dark tune. However, their "Live at the Fillmore East" 1970 performance is by far the most impressive version of this classic blues rocker tune... not least due to Lee's ferocious, legendary 10 minute-guitar solo. In my opinion that is not only his best but also one of THE best guiter solos ever played.
R.I.P. Alvin Lee. Thanks for the many years of GREAT Blues / Rock and your long instrumental jam sessions these last 47 years!! Another GREAT (under rated) blues player is called back home!! R.I.P. my brother, ROCK ON!!! =D
My all time guitarist and blues rock band of all time!!!. But my favorite version of this song is from the cd Live at the Fillmore Esst from 1970. Hands down the best version ever!!!!!!..
Did anyone notice yet, I just love the late 60s white blues, don't get me wrong... i know where it all comes from. Sonny boy was great chewing his harmonica, but what a great interpretation of a great song!!!.
Thanks outatimebdr for this fantastic video. Ten Years After is one off the few bands who are live much more better than studio recordings. Recorded Live is still one off my favourite albums.
Alvin Lee...the *hottest* and sexiest ever. Ten Years After....a best band, still... "I'm Going Home.....best song ever...Alvin Lee...best and fastest guitar *EVER*
An exemple of a musician not playing for money but only for plaisure, if not, he wouldn't play songs like this, which are hard to sell. But God, It feels so good listening such good music !
Es grandioso, e impresionante que su velocidad y virtuosismo trasciendan así, osea, podemos compararlo con guitarristas actuales no??? five stars good video!!!
Oh My God, so good music, I wish people were still used to making music like this... And, do you know that Alvin Lee weren't even ranked in the 100 greatest guitarists of all time classification published by the rolling stone magazine ? ! What a joke !
I AM TOTALLY MISS HIM -HIS MUSIC AND THAT GREAT ALVIN LEE WOLF HOWL GROWL---------HE IS A GOD-----AND I PLAY BLUES HARP----ONE THESE DAZE.....HELLUVA JAM GOIN ON...SIGN IN ALVIN.....MANY......
I used to believe The Jimmy Page was all that..after this performance..Mr.Alvin Lee just leapfrogged to lead the pack..im absolutely gobsmacked.-i knew the man was good..guess i never paid enough attention-hes not good....hes phenomenal!!
@outatimebdr I became a fan a while ago, when I've seen a movie with their soundtrack: I'd love to change the world! I am a big fan of Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix and a lot of other classic rock and blues band, but I tell you the truth , beside that song I never heard of them, sorry for my ignorent ;) That changed now though! I think Alvin Lee is fantastic and totally got the blues!!! Love these songs! Now I know a lot, thanx for ya :)
@blakewater.....TYA was actually formed in 1966, hence the name ( 10 years after Elvis '56 ). Their first album, from which this track comes was released in 1967 and was the first blues\progressive album i owned ( bought by my parents for me on my 14th birthday ). :O) That was the end of me and pop singles........ :O)
@apanokato OH YES! when you take into consideration that in those times they didn´t have the tech we cand find in present times, and when you have to follow a lead guitar player such as Alvin, you can´t be just an average bass player,or an average drummer or even a regular keybordist, you had to be a great musician to produce great songs. But that was the case for all the great bands in the 70´s. And that´s why, many legendary rock musicians in that time were part of different legendary bands .
So great cover on the Sonny Boy Wlliamson classic! They took a killer suffle and transformed it to a slow ,dark and "take no prisoners" blues bruiser..................

Great!! One of my favorite TYA songs...This song just drips with hard rock/blues...Alvin and the band are amazing!
TYA's interpretations of Willie Dixon's "Help Me" is a wonderful, slow paced, heavy & dark tune.
