Amex isn’t making anyone keep the card. If people are unhappy they will move on. Amex charges more and games the credits because they can and it’s what they’ve historically done. It’s like getting mad at a dog for barking.

People are always trying to reduce their food spend but nobody really knows how often people are eating out versus cooking/deliveries. So far it seems like Amex is the only issuer really increasing annual fees! Tbh probably too many other choices with no AF!
I personally the changes man , Resy restaurants in Miami is the majority, Dunkin easy to use , $424 in credits vs $325 in AF + amazing multipliers for dining (but plenty of no AF options out there)

Tbh American Express is meant for “ballers” with a lot of spend. Trying to justify it while being frugal ain’t really gonna work unless you’re open to coupon books

The Gold card rumors, if true, make the card even more attractive to me. Takes it from a “makes financial sense as long as you spend enough” (which I do) to a “pays for itself before you start putting spend on it” plus great spend multipliers no-brainer.
Also excited for “everyone” to cancel because too many people have the Gold who shouldn’t because their lifestyle doesn’t fit what the card was designed for.
Good point, too much saturation int he Amex ecosystem. Would be nice to get into a centurion lounge finally
they are a bank and a credit card company for the richest people in the world. What do you mean "getting greedy"? They started greedy and are staying on course. That is what credit card companies do. I have no problem with it and neither should anyone else, they provide credit for interest....seems pretty simple to me.

This is a tough sell when you compare citi strata and citi double cash for $95 for both cards. No stress of using up pre-paid credits. The Amex is a luxe flex no doubt but if you are into it for multipliers the citi duo is tough to beat!
