    What a dedication to the Hobby, Professor! I had the gimbal, the servos sleeping for some time, so I went and purchased the Head-Tracker, with my HK V2 (until stock lasts), and a sleeping FPV260 HK frame I have for some time; and a side cabled camera with its transmiter from Aomway to accommodate the Gimbal camera mounting position with the rubber! I trust it'll be another good prototype... Thanks again, and Safe Flying! I know you do ;) Cheers....

    Thank you so much for creating these videos. For clarity, photography and details they are some of the best instructional videos available. I have wanted head tracking for FPV for years but everything seemed so complicated and always seemed to require a Futaba radio. Also thanks to Dennis Frie and Mark Mansur for the original open source project. Now, as soon as Chinese New Year is over I will order the Quanum Head Tracker for my Taranis

    Painless360 You sir, have the gift of teaching and sharing knowledge to others. I've only come across your channel recently and have instantly subscribed after watching the first minute. I can recognize a good tutorial channel when I see one. If you've been in RC long enough, you remind me of finless bob with his trex videos. Clear, concise and to the point. Thank you for taking the time and effort to do these videos for those of us who actually like to build, setup and fly our creations. Hoping for a Naze PID tuning video from you soon sir, I'm sure a lot will benefit from that.Thanks again for your work!

      Altitude Aerials Wow thanks! I use the Finless Bob videos when I started out and built my first 450 heli with his videos in the background. If I can be half as useful as Finless then I'll be very happy.

      Painless360 Bob's videos were indispensable for us building our first trex 450's back in the day. Trust me sir your videos are in the same league. Please keep up the good work, it is truly appreciated!

      Amazing how we can nostalgic for the 'good ol' days' of building a T-Rex over a week and watching the next video and trying to be as precise as Bob.
      Mind you, thinking about it - it is about 8 years ago now!
      What ever happened to Finless Bob? Hope he's alive and well.

    • @AltitudeAerials
      @AltitudeAerials 9 лет назад

      +Painless360 wow it's been that long! The 450 was my very first experience with helis and I was glad those finless videos were there to guide us because those align manuals were utterly useless :) Now that you've mentioned it I've just searched youtube for "Finless Bob" and came up with a channel of a guy riding this weird motorcycle. I think it's him as it sure sounds like the trex setup videos..

    hiya buddy sorry to bother you but im a little confused I understand everything you said in the video but I got confused at the model select part am I right in thinking that once a tracker model select has been established then whatevever model you put the gimbal on the headtracker will be turned on and off with the assigned switch or do you have to set up the headtracker on the specific model you want to use it on sorry if I sound a bit dumb but I have brain damage and get a little confused cheers peter

      +Peter Webster The channel configuration (including those that are for the headtracker) are model memory specific so you'll need to make sure that you have everything setup for each model you want to fly. Hope that helps, happy flying!

    Hi, I have followed all the instructions on the video and the headtracker works without the SF-switch. If I enable SF-switch, throttle goes to zero starting my motor. This makes no sense to me since there are no other spacial functions on the throttle or anywhere on my Tranis Plus.
    If I unplug head tracker, the problems goes away.
    Should I flash my headtracker with the latest firmware? Which version?

    hi lee yup its me yet again the latest thing I have tried is to swap my rx to an x8r that proved no good I'm wondering if it could be something to do with me using the rx in sbus to run my dji naza fc as I used channels 1 2 3 4 and 6 and 7 to run the naza so I then plugged in the gimbal servos into channel 5 and 8 which were not used for the naza I'm thinking maybe to set the x8r into mode 4 that way the first 8 channels are going through the sbus port and then plug the gimbal servos into the channels 1 to 8 on the analog side what do you think thanks again you did say in the video link you sent to provide as much info as possible and that's what I'm doing cheers

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  9 лет назад +1

      John Seth-Watkins Erm, yep - you can see it in the video. There is a full video about the trainer function in the Taranis playlist...

    • @johnseth-watkins6036
      @johnseth-watkins6036 9 лет назад

      Painless360 That makes sense, thanks, At least my "problem" is the right way around, meaning that the tracker is always being passed through to the Taranis rather than never, so you video has been great in setting it up to work. Setting up a Special function to add Trainer on/off to a switch should be idiot proof (famous last words) but for some reason I cannot get Trainer turned off, it is always on! This was why I asked the question about your testing of switching it off, the video (last couple of minutes) just shows it on and working, not turned off using the TX. I think I'll hit the OpenTX forums...........

    • @johnseth-watkins6036
      @johnseth-watkins6036 9 лет назад

      Painless360 My final solution was to delete the Special Function, and in the Inputs screen add the two channels from the tracker to the SF switch. This works, and has the effect of locking the camera in the position it is in when the switch is flicked, which is preferable to it re-centring. Problem solved, thanks again for a great video.

    Thank you so much!
    One thing isn't clear for me though (not yet)
    How do I switch the HT (build-in on my Boscam SG920 goggels) on/off on the Taranis radio?
    Normally I have the gimbal on slider LS for tilting and working fine.
    But when I assign the SG switch to turn the HT on or off, the gimbal only responds to the HT.
    Switchting the SG has no effect and the LS isn't working either.
    I guess I folllowed your instructions as good as possible.

    Thanks for the fantastic video! Everything worked for me except my pan servo thinks its center is about 40 degrees left of actual center. When there's no power, the pan servo goes from 90 left to 90 right. But when I turn on the power, it goes to 40 degrees left of center. From there, it will go 90 degrees left (limit of servo) but only about 50 degrees to the right. What am I doing wrong? Thanks again!

      Dim bulb here. I wasn't quite sure how to do that. I calibrated it, and that mostly fixed that problem. It's only about 15 degrees off now, but I think I can figure out how to fix that. But now, when I plug in the head tracker to the trainer port and put the SF switch down, the head tracker works, but it freezes all my other channels. The throttle is at about 20 percent and no longer responds to the throttle control. Similar with the other controls (except the head tracker, which works fine). Thanks for any advice you might have time to give me; I really appreciate it.

    • @keithlewis9691
      @keithlewis9691 7 лет назад

      Nevermind. I guess I'm supposed to leave the SF switch up, with down being trainer. Everything works! You saved me a boatload of time and frustration, and I really appreciate it. After watching lots of other RC info/advice videos, yours stand out for quality, information, pace, pleasantness, and probably a few other things. Great job!!

    Thanks for this great video which really helped me solve all my issues.
    Everything worked great until I made the mistake (at a later stage) where I connected my 3 pin socket to the HT backwards giving the signal pin ground and the ground pin signal. Now when I connect the jack in the trainer port of my DX7s, all I get is a " No Slave Found ".
    Have I damaged the trainer port because the HT still works fine while calibrating it on my GUI program on my PC?
    My Flight Sim dongle still works perfectly through the trainer port jack and that's what's confusing me about this problem.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Keep up the great work.
    Your videos have made my life so much easier.

    Hi Painless, I'm having problems with my trusty Quanum HT recently in that it looses it's settings if left for a period of time, over night in the last case! when I try to use the plot function to see what is going on it 'scrolls' for about 1 second before 'locking up', I get a not responding message with absolutely nothing working. The only way to get out of it is to go to Task manager to shut it down. I have tried every previous Windows version in compatability mode with no fix. I am running Windows 10, got any ideas what is going on?

I have graupner MX-12, have set the channels in software as 5.6.7, all are getting command from tracker and when I'm doing PAN it also does TILT, when I'm doing TILT it does PAN also.. looks like channels are mixed and not clear signal.. I noticed that PAN and TILT are different in software my TILT is displayed as PAN in software.. Also when I do PAN with tracker it goes back by it self - should it be like this? TILT keeps fixed..

    Done everything exactly like you did here and it doesn't work. Or should I say it sometimes works but when I flick the switch to enable trainer (SF) I lose normal gimbal control and all channels are trainer controlled. Can you figure out why that is?

      +Painless360 O.K., so I managed to figure out one part.
      I went to the radio setup menu - Long Press Menu, page 4 (trainer) - and turned off trainer for channels 1 through 4. That helped to maintain control over those channels even with the head tracker plugged in.
      What doesn't seem to be working properly is the Special Function created to turn the trainer port on/off. It seems that, at least on my radio, independently of turning it on or off, the radio keeps on accepting the head tracker inputs and sending them to the receiver. Opentx 2.1.7 Firmware.
