Sucks it takes experiencing something to believe it. This is why empathy needs to be taught as a positive trait, not a weakness.

This is a real lesson everyone needs to learn. When someone tells you how they feel, or what they're going through, it does *nothing* for you to act like they're making shit up. They might be. But why be that guy? Have empathy, my dudes. Respect experiences before you experience them yourself.

Now I'm not wishing to die but im not running from death, if it comes it'll probably be the only freedom i get in life at this point. @@ywaern Kind of strange that your "life can be psychedelic (enough)" and at the same time don't know anyone who does that. Care to explain how that works? Like genuinely. Also I would concede (meaning partially agree here) that it's not really psychedelia in particular that's needed, but really; hope and a "lifting up" that you need and that's why I said mushrooms specifically. The silver-lining drug. Also environmental enrichment is a lot easier when you have that extra push because depression causes a physical 'slowness' in thinking and behavior too which by its own consequences basically prolongs the cycle of depression by limiting environmental enrichment and socially mixing it up and getting out more or changing of scenery. In fact that was how antidepressants in general were originally designed and put to market for, was short-term combating against this 'slowness' of depression that prolongs the cycle, not for "maintenance" which is how they tended to be marketed and prescribed now. And doctors are almost never informed on this nuance which is why it keeps happening.

Everyone is these comments is talking about how depression exist yet everyone fails to realize he only became depressed when he wasn’t doing what he wanted in life and couldn’t. Many people that have depression have it because of that exact reason and I’m a prime example of that. Depression is real however it can be suppressed when instilling a good work ethic and when making progress in your life. Truth be told it is just another excuse for failure and if that’s fine by you by all means stay depressed but if your looking for something more you truly don’t have time for it.

@@boysfromtheshack4458for some people yes but for people like myself and countless others its not as clear cut as you try to make it. For some it has nothing to do with success, failure or work ethic for some its hereditary, others its chemical imbalance. There have been many successful people with amazing work ethics who are doing what they want/love who are severely depressed (clinically) & leave this earth because its not something you can shake by just work ethic and doing what you want/love. Don’t downplay it and say its an excuse when not all cases of depression are similar or the same as yours was.

@@boysfromtheshack4458 Depression extends far past work ethic and life purpose. Thats your experience and his but not everyone else's. Reminds me of my favorite local artist, made an album about both of his parents passing. He tried to suppress those feelings with work, and his depression only continued to spiral. Even with all the money and fame he's constantly achieving he couldn't out work those problems. It will come for you. Purpose can be one part of depression its certainly not the end all. Thats an over statement, I had it for the exact reason dealing with deaths and family health. It can be a cause of failure at some point, but its far from the main excuse for why people can fail! There's far more nuance to what you're saying. Depression is not linear, its certainly a spectrum of things.

    Listen to gospel songs
Stayed in a calm peaceful environment
Reassure myself that I'm worth it
Admired who I was on the inside
    Affirmations daily
Changed the people I was around
Soo much more, but it helped!!
Life still kicks your azz at times, but all that work, you won't stay in that low vibrational state 😢

A weird effect when that happens is like he said, walking down the stairs. When it's happened to me and I've been out of action for days or a week or so, I'd finally get up and walk down the stairs and my legs were weak, I'd almost fall, and I'd be out of breathe just going up and down stairs, even if you're still managing to eat, your body wastes away along with your mind.

And that can have a negative impact on the offspring or other love ones in our life. I'll say an extra prayer for you and your mom so that she can realize her worth and yours and that when that time comes that you'll be ready to receive it. 🙏🏿💓 & @prodbysmokalot2250

The simple fact that men are talking about mental wellness is so uplifting. Having worked in the mental health field, so many cultures view mental health issues as "fake", "excuses", etc. Or a lack of having faith. You can be depressed, ha e anxiety and be in prayer everyday. The ability to recognize there's an issue and get the help is everything. Yet, not beat yourself up for going through it.

I started working at a mental health facility and EMS right out of high school and saw how the other staff treated the residents believing they were faking it for attention. After reading files, spending 12 hour shifts for 3 months with all age groups, I went home and spoke to my father about the war induced PTSD that he struggled with and I'd just learned of. I told him of those we'd found who'd taken their own lives and he hugged me and said "that's all I saw at your age".

Same with anxiety… I used to think people who said they had that were just making excuses or seeking attention until I experienced it at a high level .
I learned the meaning of anxiety without any context ,explanation, or definition
Ill never forget the moment it clicked and I said “ wow, this feeling I’m feeling is what anxiety is, I get it now”

Depression for me is a monster that is constantly lurking within me waiting for a chance to take over. Its the constant voice in my head telling me I am not good enough and never will be and that I should just off myself. It never really goes away fully, just like alcoholism its just waiting for you to fuck up. Don't be afraid to ask for help, no one will think less of you and if they do f em.

You don’t understand depression until you go through it, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy, it’s the worst feeling ever, I remember I was so depressed one time that I’d wake up only once a day just to drink water and I would go back to sleep, I lost my job, I didn’t shower, I had to give my dog to my sister and they sent people over to my place to check up on me every 2 days and they tried to help me but I just couldn’t do anything for a good 3 months, I’m still struggling, everyday is a struggle but I’m still here fighting for my old life back.
