I photographed a Filipino couple a few years ago. They invited me to dinner one night to show their appreciation even though they were paying clients. This restaurant had Filipino food. The one you had for lunch, we have the same thing here, it’s called “sala pao” here in Thailand. Usually the fillings are pork or beans
Here in the Philippines sala pao has mongo beans fillings but siopao has pork or beef
