Thrashin’ Jackson: *cries*
Me: *wants to play Die Young by Kesha to make him cry harder lol*
No Civerous? Maze Envy is fucking incredible.
Hell yeah! My AOTY so far!
An excellent record for sure
Up there for AOTY for me
Judas Priest - Invincible Shield
Dvne - Voidkind
Knocked Loose - You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To
High On Fire - Cometh The Storm
Saxon - Hell, Fire And Damnation
Aborted - Vault Of Horrors
Job For A Cowboy - Moon Healer
Accept - Humanoid
Boundaries - Death Is Little More
Bring Me The Horizon - Post Human: Nex Gen
Darkest Hour - Perpetual Terminal
This list is good.
Jeez, what's Thrashin' Jackson crying about anyway? He got his Kerry King album. You'd think he'd also be down for new Morbid Saint, Exhorder, Suicidal Angels...
He liked Morbid Saint but the Exhorder album was too artsy and slow for him, and the Suicidal Angels album was too melodic.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial Well jeez, I can be picky about my metal at times but this dude really needs to open up.
AND kreator re-released an album
@@themetalmeltdownofficial Not sure about his like for the new Morbid Saint. Vocals aren't identical to the first album so i dunno... i mean for a Thrash purist like Thrashin'.
yall think thrashin jackson's tears are made of beer?
If so, my kitchen floor is COVERED in beer at the moment...
His tears are made of pure distilled Kerry King riffs.
It must've been a sticky floor.
-Ezzgar
Judas priest invincible Shield 🛡 unbelievable Album.... 🤘 🇬🇧
The only critic that loves FOLTERKAMMER & STRIKER as much as me. Thank you. My list for 2024 is already trailed out in previous video comments, so I'll spare me, but hey! I brought beer for Mr. Jackson!
Striker is a band I need to check out. I’ve heard great things about them. I loved the new Spectral Voice, Job for a Cowboy, Hideous Divinity, High on Fire, Unleash the Archers, Pallbearer, and Crypt Sermon albums. I would have included the new Judas Priest as my number one favorite album of the year so far.
My favs in no particular order:
Saxon - Hell, Fire and Damnation
Knoll - As Spoken
Jim Peterik & World Stage - Roots & Shoots Vol. 1
Full of Hell - Coagulated Bliss

I am absolutely in love with every single track on Morgul Blade’s Heavy Metal Wraiths.
Fragments of the ageless by Skeletal Remains is my favorite album of the year so far
Mine too, surprised more people don't think so
I love you being yourself, Melty, but we need more Thrashin' Jackson haha.
Just been wondering what happened to your musical opener for the videos. I loved that.
Also God Is Violence by Cancer Christ is still my number one favorite album of 2024. I love it to bits and pieces
An excellent choice, it kicks ass
I love Pallbearer. Sorrow and Extinction is by far my favorite modern record. I've listened to a bit of the new album, and from what I've heard, it's great
It really is, definitely check out the full thing when you get the time.
Ulcerate wheeeere?!?!
He doesn’t like them 😢
@@jeremyfaulkner1048 😧
In the beginning of the video
I’m surprised very few people mention Borknagar - Fall, fucking masterpiece
So many interesting picks here! Great video.
Never heard of Unleash the Archers until Phantoma. Found that their 2 previous albums Apex and Abyss were pretty badass also.
Here’s some of my favorite albums of this year. This is in no real order
1. Witching Hour(Shirobeats)
-Trip Hop, Experimental EDM
2. Sankofa(Thandiswa)
-Kwaito(which is basically African Dance Music)
3. Letter From A Black Widow(Judith Hill)
-Blues
4. God Is Violence(Cancer Christ)
-Hardcore
5. Orchards Of A Futile Heaven(Dis Fig And The Body)
-Avant Garde Metal
6. Blood Era(Disfiguring The Goddess)
-Slam Metal
7. Of The Last Human Being(Sleepytime Gorilla Museum)
-Avant Garde Metal
you gotta check out It’s Inside You by CANDY. It’s really stretching the boundaries of hardcore with elements of industrial, breakcore, shoegaze all while maintaining one of the meanest sounding bands in the scene right now.
Thats a really cool album. Candy quickly becoming one of my new favourite hardcore bands out there.
I absolutely cannot stop spinning the new Thou record. Sooooo good.
I think I’m five or six spins deep at this point. Absolutely and unequivocally rips.
Awesome video! Thanks 👍🤘🤘
This year have been a great year for melodic black metal in my honest opinion! The new albums from Dödsrit and the French Canadian/Québecois band Conifère have both been freaking incredible! Also, the debut from the French melodic black metal and folk metal band Moisson Livide is so much fun to listen to as well. I really loved that Weibermacht album, too; mentioned it in my video along with all of the previous band above! On the death metal side, I really enjoyed Convulsing’s and Kvadrat’s new records.
Following this comment up, the new Antichrist Siege Machine, Primitive Warfare, and Knocked Loose realeases have been three of the heaviest albums I’ve heard all year so far. The first two are some absolutely brutal wall, metal, while the last one being asurprisingly semi-mainstream hit despite being such a heavy metalcore record.
Solid list. You've got to listen to Despondency Chord Progressions by Selbst, and The Way of Ancients by Volcandra though!
For metal for sure rn for me, Spectral Voice, Thou, Judas Priest, Borknagar, Brodequin, Knoll and Striker are my favorites definitely.
Kudos for throwing further light on that Hideous Divinity album; I think it generally got overlooked a bit, considering that it is one of the very best technical death metal albums of 2024 so far in my book... 🤘👌
Excellent list, I definitely love a few albums on here (especially High on Fire), and I need to give some of the others a listen. Here are some of my favorite metal/heavy music records of the year:
Full of Hell - "Coagulated Bliss"
Knocked Loose - "You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To"
Knoll - "As Spoken"
Cave Sermon - "Divine Laughter"
Civerous - "Maze Envy"
Replicant - "Infinite Mortality"
Inter Arma - "New Heaven"
Tzompantli - "Beating the Drums of Ancestral Force"
My Dying Bride - "A Mortal Binding"
The new Thou and Ulcerate records are quickly climbing the list, too.
Also, why not, I'll throw some of my favorite albums from other genres:
Chelsea Wolfe - "She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She" (Darkwave, Post-industrial)
Sylvaine - "Eg Er Framand" (Dark/Norse Folk)
Allie X - "Girl With No Face" (Synthpop)
Iglooghost - "Tidal Memory Exo" (Deconstructed Club/Experimental electronic)
Charli XCX - "brat" (Electropop)
Dua Lipa - "Radical Optimism" (Dance pop)
Kelly Moran - "Moves in the Field" (Modern classical)
Hannah Frances - "Keeper of the Shepherd" (Folk)
Job for a Cowboy-Moon Healer
Judas Priest-Invincible Shield
Midnight-Hellish Expectations
Dragonforce-Warp Speed Warriors
Brat-Social Grace
Alestorm-Voyage of the Dead Marauder EP (LOVE that cover of "Last Saskatchewan Pirate")
Deicide-Banished by Sin
Belushi Speedball-Stellkira ("Eels and Escalators" RULES!)
Love to finally see Folterkammer on someone's list. Yet to find someone with Ou - Frailty mentioned.
So far Vitriol's "suffer and become" rules, new Aborted and Ulcerate are also fire and JFAC is another great one but I have to give it another listen to really appreciate it
1) Mind Burns Alive by Pallbearer
2) Ihsahn: S/T
3) New Heaven by Inter Arma
4) Fall by Borknagar
5) Fragments of the Ageless by Skeletal Remains
6) Invincible Shield by Judas Priest
7) Cometh the Storm by H.O.F
8) Swallowed by Hell by Morbid Saint
9) Despondency Chord Progressions by Selbst
10) Dead Mother Moon by Upon Stone
Hon Men: Slimelord, Caligula's Horse.
I must revisit the Civerous and Replicant records though. Very excited for the Alcest and Ulcerate records, hopefully they land on the list.
New Alcest is really good. More on that next week...
Nice list!
Alot of great picks here. I would recommend Bipolar Architecture - Metaphysicize if you havent checked it out yet. Currently my AOTY so far. Really great mix of post-metal/blazegaze/prog-metal
That sounds REALLY cool, definitely gonna have to check that out!
@themetalmeltdownofficial I definitely think you will enjoy it. They are signed to the same record label as the ocean as well
@@ryanhanlon7001 One of our favorite records of the year.
Convulsing - Perdurance
Replicant - Infinite Mortality
Hadit - Metaphysical Engines Approaching The Event Horizon
Slift - Ilion
Meth. - Shame
Tzompantli - Beating the Drums of Ancestral Force
Meth and Tzompantli go ridiculously hard
In comparison to last year, this year has been kind of sleeper for me. I did find some things that I thought were worth some attention. See the list below.
Master - Saints Dispelled
Ancient VVisdom - Master of the Stone
Toadliquor - Back in the Hole
Chapel of Disease - Echoes of Light
Spectral Voice - Sparagmos
Brodequin - Harbinger of Woe
The Vision Bleak - Weird Tales
Amiensus - Reclamation: Part 1
Saidan - Visual Kill
Abyssal (Mexico) - Glacial
Dysrhythmia - Coffin of Conviction
Julie Christmas - Ridiculous and Full of Blood
This is small but solid collection of new things I've enjoyed. There's probably some other things I'm forgetting since this is all off the top of my head.
Still gotta listen to the Julie Christmas album, heard good things about it though
My Favorites got to be:
Sea of Consciousness- Sea of Consciousness
Striker - Ultrapower
Deathless - The Clairvoyant
Judas Priest - Invincible Shield
Unleash the Archers - Phantoma
Hideous Divinity - Unextinct
Drown in Sulphur - Dark Secrets of the Soul
Ngl, that BMTH album was hella fun, catchy and really good to listen to. A friend of mine is a huge fan of them and has been telling me to listen to it, and as an album, and not just track for track.
It was a fun ride, definitely a deserved spot in top albums of 2024 (so far) and one I've revisited many times now..
-Ezzgar
Oh our lists are pretty wildly different this year
1. Gonemage- Spell Piercings ( nu-black metal??!! *gasp* also Are You Afraid of The Dark references )
2. Saidan- Visual Kill: The Blossoming of Psychotic Depravity ( give yourself at least a whole track to get used to the production )
3. Judas Priest- Invincible Sheild ( *guitar solo* )
4. Selbst- Despondency Chord Progressions ( black metal but if David Gilmour wrote the leads? )
5. Ulcerate- Cutting The Throat of God ( creative avant-gardeish death metal. The drummer is nuts! )
6. Dvne-Voidkind( DAYYYUM Crack The Skye and Leviathan mixed )
7. In Vain- Solemn( Loved it waaay more than their last one. Proggggggg )
8. Ithilra- Covenant of The Blackened Woods ( demo quality black metal for a kvlt kiddie just like meeeee lol )
9. Sig:Ar:Tyr- Citadel of Stars ( melodic folk black metal with GUITAR SOLOOOOOOZZZ )
10. Star Temple ( written in the Russian alphabet but I'm too lazy )- S/t ( atmospheric Black metal. Nothin necessarily new or inventive but if you enjoy the genre I suspect you'll like it )
How in the world I've never heard of Striker before is beyond me, but been watching their videos all morning and losing my mind! Fucking hysterical and uber talented too, thanks for leading me to these guys! Ordered the Spectral Voice cd too.
I think what Unleash the Archers did with AI is nothing short of incredible and creative.
Thanks man.
Borknagar
Saxon
Gatecreeper
Like some of this list from you too.
Heavy Temple - Garden of Heathens (Psychedelic Stoner Doom, my genre, Better than their debut, which was my album of the year as well)
Pallbearer - Mind burns alive (Finally an album we agree on, this is rare, so Partytime!!! - still love Your channel though)
Tombstoner - Rot Stink Rip (Exactly my cup of Death Metal with the best guitar sound of the year so far)
Critical Defiance - The Search won´t fall (Tech Thrash is such an underrated genre and this band keeps getting better)
Dis Fig & The Body - Orchards of a futile Heaven (Okay, it´s hard to count this as Metal, for - it isn´t, but it´s dark enough for 3 metal albums, so my list, my rules, it counts)
Dissimulator - Lower Form Resistance (It´s been a good year for Tech Thrash so far)
Bongripper - Empty (Drony, spacy, instrumental Worship of the Riff as such, full of Feedback as musical Tool, and Static Noises, Music to meditate to)
Necrot - Lifeless Birth (OSDM just done right)
Domination Campaign - A Storm of Steel (My regularly necessary dose of Bolt Thrower Worship)
Septage - Septic Worship (Best Grind so far, though it doesn´t kick me as hard as Walking Corpse or Horrible Earth last year, but haffi have one Grind thing in the list, I´m, biased)
Shoutouts to:
Qilin - Cognizance - Hideous Divinity - Cognitive - Belushi Speed Ball - High Desert Queen - Morgue - Ingested - Intervals - and last not least - The Last of Lucy
Wormwood, Cistvaen and ULCERATE are my top 3 so far
Three albums on this list are definitely favorites of mine: COMETH THE STORM, MIND BURNS ALIVE, and ULTRAPOWER. Two other favorites of mine are HELLISH EXPECTATIONS by Midnight and INVINCIBLE SHIELD by Judas Priest.
I’m looking forward to new albums from Kittie, Wraith, Bewitcher, and (hopefully) Nite in the second half of this year.
Agree with most; I’d add Invincible Shield, Ihsahn and the new Tzompantli record. Honorable mentions would be the new records from Atoll, SlimeLord, Dödsrit and Morbid Saint.
Sorry Mr Jackson, no Kerry King
My favs this year so far in no particular order:

Inter Arma: New Heaven
High on Fire: Cometh the Storm
Morbid Saint - Swallowed By Hell

Freeways - Dark Sky Sanctuary
Observers - The Age of the Machine Entities
Gatecreeper - Dark Superstition
Skraeckoedlan - Vermillion Sky
The Endless - The Endless
I had a good kick with Crying Thrashin Jackson...that said. Job for a Cowboy's Moon Healer was a banger...also, I definitely have to check out the Crypt Sermon album because I simply couldn't get into Pallbearer at all. With Pallbearer, I was expecting something completely depressive and miserable and I got whiny and flowery out of it but it is very good musically. And the other bands, I definitely have to check out other than High on Fire's new one because I know that was going to be great because Matt Pike is super talented
Favorite vinyl jams of 2024 so far:
Arjen - "Lice Čovjeka Koji Je Rekao Ne"
Borknagar - "Fall"
Ihsahn - "Ihsahn"
Inquisition - " Veneration Of Medieval Mysticism..."
Mutiilation - "Black Metal Cult"
Necrophobic - "In The Twilight Grey"
Odz Manouk - "Bosoragazan (Բոսորագազան)" and " Ծուռ (Tzurr)"
Secrets - "Towards The Nightside"
Varathron - "The Crimson Temple"
Vargrav - "The Nighthold"
Kind of agree with Thrashin' Jackson. 😮
Personal favorite metal albums of 2024:
Cariosus - Will, Until Beauty
Hideous Divinity - Unextinct
Folterkammer - Weibermacht
Elettra Storm - Powerlords
Illumishade - Another Side Of You
Red Handed Denial - Journey Through Virtual Dystopia
Thou - Umbilical
Castle Rat - Into The Realm
Add AEONS - The Ghosts Of What We Knew and Lodestar - Zonen.
Just discovered Striker because of this video
Thrashin jackson clearly hasn't heard System Shock by Desolus. That shit fuckin slaps.
Uncle melty no boundaries death is little more on here!
??
New Julie Christmas
Hey, great picks man! Especially that JFAC record, that thing slapped. My favorites so far are probably Ihsahn, Caligula’s Horse, Eidola, Erra, and Fym by this band called Azure. Keep up the good work!
that Ihsahn record was really great. My favourite out of his solo stuff so far.
Thrashin' it's ok. I know the only album you were looking forward to this year was the new Kerry King. When that album didn't deliver and if it was the only metal release I knew about like you, hell my world would be rocked too and not in a good way. Hey, there's always next year.
Kerry kings album is my favorite so far
You biting cal chuchesta’s style
F.K.U. has a killer 2024 album!!!
Judas Priest Invincible Shield
Cognitive Abhorrence
Saxon Hell Fire Giant and Damnation
Crypt Sermon The Stygian Rose
Morbid Saint Swllowed by Hell
Skeletal Remains Fragments Of The Ageless
Civerous Maze Envy
High on Fire Cometh The Storm
Knocked Loose You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
God too many albums to pick 🤘
I swear, Thrashin' Jackson doesn't like anything! He's the real poser.
More to the subject, you've seriously enhanced my radar for metal releases so far this year. With the Heavy Communion no longer updating weekly, it's harder to sort through everything that comes out, especially when Metal Archives excludes a lot. I have yet to properly rank my albums of the year so far, but I can mention a handful that I have really enjoyed in a rough order:
Myrath - Karma
Judas Priest - Invincible Shield
Exhorder - Defectum Omnium
Striker - Ultrapower
VLTIMAS - Epic
Necrophobic - In the Twilight Grey
Korpiklaani - Runkarumpu
Belore - Eastern Tales
Ou - II: Frailty
Barbarian Swords - Fetid
Kaosphere - In Scars We Trust
Take Offense - T.O.Tality
Pallbearer - Mind Burns Alive
Greyhawk - Thunderheart
Friends of Hell - God Damned You to Hell
I enjoyed the Crypt Sermon record quite a bit, but I feel I need a few more listens to really have it sink in.
Why is thrashin jackson crying bro kreator re-released an album 😭
I wasn’t too excited by the Hideous Divinity album, the Civerous album is far superior imo.
check out Mythraeums new album release Oblivion Aeternam.. its sIIck !!
I really wish I could get into Doom. Just not my vibe 😭
Lmao with premium you can skip over "commonly skipped sections" and it brought me right past the skit
Priest
Necrowretch
Necrophobic
Unleash the Archers
Lutharo
Vltimas
AJFAC
Not really into brutal death metal or doom/stoner stuff. Would welcome a few melodeath suggestions.
Gatecreeper plays around with melo-death stuff on their latest album "Dark Superstition", check that out if you haven't bud.
@@themetalmeltdownofficial yeah, I liked that album. Kicking myself in the ass for not going to see them in Hamilton last month. Nobody comes to Hamilton. This was rare
Thrashin jackson really is being a diva today! His popularity is already having a backlash! He’s only been around for 5 seconds but he is letting it all go to his head!! 😞
I really can't get enough of Thrashin Jackson. Such a perfect satire of middle aged metal elitists forever stuck in the 80s
Very weak year in my opinion so far. Last one sucked too but cattle carried it
memes and beers and tears await those with patience exuded! oh yea good music, that exists too
samlrc - a lonely sinner (post-rock / folk / shoegaze)
kamasi washington - fearless movement (jazz fusion)
ulcerate - cutting the throat of god (technical/dissonant death metal)
knocked loose - you won't go before you're supposed to (beatdown metalcore)
job for a cowboy - moon healer (prog/tech death metal)
pallbearer - mind burns alive (doom metal)
spectral voice - sparagmos (deathdoom metal)
beth gibbons - lives outgrown (folk / post-rock via portishead's singer)
angmodnes - rot of the soul (funeral doom metal)
my dying bride - a mortal binding (deathdoom / gothic doom metal)
poser... where is Ulcerate??
Found Thrashin’ Jackson’s alt already! 🤣
Nahh, Thrashin Jackson would DEFINITELY call Ulcerate 'artsy fartsy hipster metal'
