    Thank you, thank you, thaaaaank youuuu! I caught this tutorial completely by fate as I'm making a character cake for someone with a crispy treat head and cake body. The cake is needed in a week and a half. Somehow in all my other research, I never saw the trick of the PVC pipe with an adapter. Brilliant!

    @sarah k if you dont wrap it, it will fall off the structure or fall apart. It's barely warm when you work with it. Only let it set for 5 minutes or so

    I haven't done/tried using Rice Krispies, just found some from Walmart here in BC. May I know how heavy will it be after making one? I'm about to make a lid for a treasure chest, instead of using styrofoam. Wonder if it will not be so heavy for my cake. It's quite warm now here in BC. Thanks for any advice.

    In your tutorial you say you use a 9g wire, the link takes me too a 12g wire. Which gauge do you think is best to put my rice Krispy structure on?

  • @bcrafty7712
    @bcrafty7712 9 лет назад +1

    Why no butter? Does it make the krispies stick together better or is it just a preference? I need to make a beer mug handle and cover it in candy melt so I am trying to figure out what would be best with butter or no butter to make it stick together well. Thank you

    • @Artisancakecompany
      @Artisancakecompany  9 лет назад +4

      +Carol Martinson because it makes the RKT weak

    • @marykeiks2602
      @marykeiks2602 8 лет назад

      +so you think the rkt will be weak??? I think it will be more sticky... i´m confused

    • @Artisancakecompany
      @Artisancakecompany  8 лет назад +5

      +Mariana Medina Ramírez What is confusing? Butter is a fat. It is slippery when melted and will cause the RKT to not stick together. I am speaking from experience.

    • @77jozie
      @77jozie 8 лет назад +1

      She's right--Leave out the butter. I'm still new at character building. My very first was a Cookie Monster out of crispy treats--using the regular butter recipe. Cookie Monster started to sag and break at room temperature. Luckily it was for my son, so he didn't need to last very long. The lady knows her stuff!

    Where do you get boards like the one in this video for cakes. I went to lowes and asked for a circle shaped board and they said they couldn't do circles

    • @tryingcake101
      @tryingcake101 9 лет назад +1

      I had mine made at a local millwork shop, several sizes. Or, Lowes does sell round, raw wood already cut, in the lumber section. It's with other table making supplies. I know they do. You just can't have it cut that way. You have to purchase their already set sizes.

    I have a question. what do you do with the figure afterwards? would probably be awkward to eat and a lot of fondant. so I'm confused on what to do with it afterwards

    • @Artisancakecompany
      @Artisancakecompany  7 лет назад +1

      You don't do anything with it. The whole purpose is that you're putting edible decorations onto an edible cake that are custom made instead of using a plastic toy. It's even more awkward to make a cake out of clay and put it on a cake and then someone takes a bite and it's not edible.

    • @ourlittlefamily8342

      Why color the rice crispies? They are going to be covered by modeling chocolate and fondant, it will not be seen... Unless as an aesthetic you are going for if the cake is to be cut into, served and eaten, and you want that "pop" of color I guess.

    • @smponce9
      @smponce9 5 лет назад +1

      Better to make your own if you can. Pre-made are very expensive. Those giant packages at Christmas time the size of a 1/2 sheet cake cost like 10 bucks. Sheesh! She gave a really simple, inexpensive recipe, besides, pre-made treats would have extra ingredients in them, like added fat. But you are welcome to experiment.
