Great job Laurence of doing the electrical work for fringe breakers. I love that jumper box that’s really nice. Nice and small. Can’t wait to see the van finished. Great job of doing some yourself and having help from your members. Looks good so far. Have a great week and safe travels.
We started out with one idea of what we wanted to be able to boondock, and have changed our thinking several times while living on the road. We agree, you need to figure out what type of places you want to stay to decide what you need. The plug with the green lights is really cool! 😎 Jim says the J edit was really nice. The battery was very interesting! You guys are doing a great van build here! Safe Travels and we look forward to seeing you in a few days! - Jim & Michelle
I absolutely agree I think solar is a waste those battery bank is fine because no matter how much solar you have it can’t run your a/c indefinitely so no need for it just plug in to generator
Agree, don’t do roof top solar, just add a few portable ground panels you can plug in and move around as needed. Give yourself plenty of cable so you can get maximum sun.
Nice job on the build. Agree on your solar evaluation as it depends on a person’s use and needs. No solar here as we use parks with hookups due to work needs. A 200 amp hour battery provides power for travel days.
Exactly. We’ve always carried a generator and we were going to buy a small one just for topping up the battery, but the Dc to Dc charger is more than enough
Totally agree with you about Solar mate, it makes no sense to us what so ever. Tried it and WOFT. Soon as Mands wants a cuppa the juice is gone. No Sun, No power.
That's a killer battery you have got there Lourence I will have to look into the marine panel, we were gonna go with more residential box. But our will be in the drome box behind the bunk. I like your 12 volt panel as well, the truck already has a system with breakers and switches & my plan was to just switch it over to the Lithium battery we bought. We are gonna run DC to DC but we're gonna run 2 alternators 1 for house batteries, other for Lithium. We're gonna go generator as back up to the 30 amp. Then I will always have portable power for what ever & much cheaper....plus not easy to mount panel anywhere. Looks great
I'm surprised you didn't use Victron's new Orion XS DC to DC charger. It has 50 amps of charging and runs much cooler. Everything else looks amazing so far, good luck with getting it all done!!!
Great video and well done on all the installs. My question is what is the name and where to get the exterior plug you installed and are you happy with it? I saw another video on a product called the Smart Plug. Is that the same? Thanks to you guys and be safe, God Bless. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Oh, it’s awesome and it’s made by Hughes Power watchdog. hughesautoformers.com/product/safeview-smart-rv-power-inlet-30-amp-white/ Let them know we sent you if/when you order. They make them 50 and 30 amp in both black and white 👍
Solar doesn't run things. Batteries run things, solar charges batteries. There are many ways to charge batteries, including generator, DC to DC charger, and/or hookups, even 20 amp. So, you're right, you don't "need" solar.
Ladies, find yourself a man that looks at you the way Larry looks at that battery.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thanks! It’s coming along nicely!
On a hot summer day who wants to park in the sun. A portable allows you shade and a trickle charge . 👍
That’s a great point!!!
You are doing such a great job on this remodel. Can't wait to see how it comes out. Have a great day from Laurie and Rick
@@mooreroadstotravelon3 thanks guys 🥰

That's good advice, thanks!
Well that was Informative😂😂
Looks like a lot of hard work But what a good job you both did on cabinet, excellent.
Well done 👏 ✔️

Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers mate! Glad you enjoyed it!
You're doing a great job! We have no idea what you said, but we know you do, so that's all that matters 😂.
You cheeky liars.

No more drinking in the job. Lol. Build is looking great.
You got it! No more drinking until the van build is done! 🍻

Sounds like you’ve got a great plan! I see you like to plan all this stuff as much I do 🤣🤣
Love the video ❤
Thanks 😊
This is really fun to watch!
Thanks Gary!!! 💪💪
Very informative video but way above my pay grade. 😁😁
Hahahahaha
Looking great!
Thanks! 😊

Oh, I really wanted it, but price and availability at the time was an issue. Should be easy to upgrade in the future though.
@ yes an easy upgrade. Good luck.

Yup! Sometimes people feel like their first upgrade should be solar when really, it should be the last (for most people).
I often use the term "Chineseium"
Hahaha. Genius!!!
I thought what you were going to say that you thought would make people mad was not going with Battle Born!
Hahaha. We have nothing but great things to say about Battleborn batteries, but the price is very restrictive for us.
Bad form when lifting that Battery!!! You’ll do yourself a mischief young man!!! 🏋️♀️
I’ve been waiting for this comment ever since I saw my poor form editing the video.
I know it is already done but a 100 lb battery will go right through your drivers chair:)
Yup. We plan to strap it down. It’ll also go right through the back of my head if (god forbid) we roll the van
Solar is a joke for infrequent campers. A generator is $600 and solar is $5,000, math is simple.
Nailed it!!!
A couple tips for anyone building a van:
1. Don't
2. Don't do it, are you daft?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Solar panels are not that expensive. The expense is the batteries.
True. The install would be a lot of work though. We are dead happy with the DC to DC converter though.
KUTGW
Thanks Kevin!!!
