Someone in the neighborhood needs to tell the city that Stockman cleaned this lot up and did the city's job for them. They need to know that it was done by someone who doesn't even own that lot! They'll probably try to fine the property owner, of the lot, instead of taking responsibility for not cleaning it themselves.

This then, is the responsible of the landowner for letting the vegetation get out of control. Could the city council gone around identifying abandoned property, and made it a project for citizens to clean up and make it a safer neighborhood, or even make it a Saturday event.

Actually, it's the city's responsibility to keep the sidewalks clear.
And yea, the property owner has probably been cited a few times but has done nothing to remedy the issue.
I would have cited the prop owner for a potential fire violation.. but that's just me.

In our community it's the property owner's responsibility to keep the sidewalk free of ice, snow, etc. They will mow an overgrown property and then charge the landowner. I live in a village of 900 though.

Where are the parents? They can't meet with the school board, write to their representative and ask why this isn't being taken care of, or plan a group cleanup with other parents and kids to clean it up? Just seems lazy and the kids get put into the street where it's not safe either.

@@Beach-Star-Experience-550-YT I think people don't 'see' things. They drive by it every day and just become desensitized to it. Suburban cities don't really take in enough money to really take care of every block of road and sidewalk. They rely on new suburban areas and inner city zones to pay for the maintenance of other older areas. Unfortunately, that Ponzi-like game fails apart when they stop growing, and now they have large stretches of roads and infrastructure they need to maintain. So, they have started neglecting some areas of the city to maintain the areas that generate business, taxes, and happy Donors.

@etienneE it differs, I think most places are the property owners have to maintain clearing and cutting around sidewalks. The actual sidewalks are maintain by city.
Had a business owner in Missouri was told to cut the grass in front of his store, but told he couldn't put a sign up because it was not his property. He told whoever was telling him to cut it that if he can't put a sign up he will not cut it so city takes care of it.

No matter how many times we told our new hires, they had to put a rock through a window before they listened lol. But there are a lot of citizens of America like this guy who just care and try to do good. Some of us don't even have the ability or time or money to be able to do what he's doing, but still don't mind doing some little things that are little to us but maybe mean something bigger to someone else. Treating children like they are trash is the reason why they behave as though they "don't care." It is for self-protection from a world which continually shows them they aren't worthy & have no value. Typically the tax money that people pay go to areas that bring more money back to the city. Areas they invest in for development from big developers or people coming into communities with money to build and take areas like what he is cleaning up at very low costs to displace these kids and their families. If I were driving past him, that's what I would assume. I wouldn't assume he's a kind stranger doing this for free. So why would anyone offer to help a guy hired to do a landscaping job?

Have you reported a corner for cleanup to the city? What’s the response time? The resources are there to be used but cities are gonna force you to put in a little effort, like taking photos & uploading them to their website. And leaving your info so the City has a contact person, since Voters said all the “I work for the Congressman/woman & I drive around the District looking for issues to allocate funds and fix” jobs apparently weren’t fiscally responsible….

All of the routes are computed digitally, they don't know what it looks like when they choose which road. But, it's up to the bus driver to report unsafe areas to the bus company the school district contracts with. So, this might really be a failing on the part of the bus driver. But, could still be the driver reported it and the city still hasn't stepped in. Point is, we don't know where this fell apart and who is to blame.

Why should the people who own the property clean up a mess on the sidewalk that the city should have cleaned up? I'm betting they haven't been able to maintain that bit of fence for a long time because other gross people have been using that public sidewalk as a dumping ground. That's the city's responsibility. I'm sure they will be very grateful that they can now maintain their fence line properly. IF anyone actually lives in that property. It looks abandoned, which means the private property signs were put up by a bank.

The city or state owns that. They’re supposed to clean it up. But they don’t- they just know how to fine residents for having a very slightly overgrown yard. Of course there is the exception of some people really do have a big mess of a yard. Anyhow- the city should get a fine for not cleaning up their part. It’s a shame. Those people who still consider them as 'menial' jobs are insulting the hard working folk who - paid or not - perform these vitally-important tasks and, overall, show a narrowmindedness and combined ignorance and arrogance of breathtaking proportions about the world around them.
Elevating such jobs' status - whether by youtube channels or otherwise - can only be good for all of us.
