- The 2S1 in War Thunder is an Artillery Tank that has a 400mm penetrating HEAT-FS at just 6.0 BR!
Compared to the 2S3M, it's not as good for derping tanks with HE... however, its long range sniping capabilities are REALLY good due to the HEATFS round it get access to.
There really isn't much to say about this vehicle other than it's good. So long as you stay away from artillery and machinegun fire due to your 7mm of armour all round... you can be a very nasty surprise for the enemy indeed! :)

Haven't had the chance to play this yet but it seems like it has the best prox fuze shell in the game, while other self propelled artillery vehicles have prox shells with only a 3 meter radius this things shell has a radius of 7 meters, which tells me that maybe that shell was actually intended for AA use, unlike most the other artilleries that have proximity shells meant to detonate just before they hit the ground
I saw the 2s1 the other day in person at the American Heritage Museum and let me tell you, it truly is an absolute boat. Also saw the only surviving Ho Ro in existence, i think you should give it a try (even if it may be seal clubbing)
Hey Odd, been playing the M60A1 AOS a lot recently and it's been tons of fun. The APDS round seems like it acts more as an APFSDS round with how good its post-pen is and I get almost constant uptiers. You should definitely consider making a video on it. As always, love the content. Keep up the great work!
yeah its weird. only 250mm of pen but feels like a ton more. I use it at 10.0 sometimes for fun.
The apds round on the aos is a second generation subcaliber munition rather than something the Leo’s apds or centurion mk10’s relatively earlier generation apds, it doesn’t have the pure pen of something like shot mk3 or dm13 but it has high angle values through the use of a more effective cap and denser construction, these higher angle values allow it to penetrate less but penetrate more often and at steeper angles

I personally LOVE playing the 2S1 and I love the play style it has cause using it without heat makes you aim for weak spots and stuff which helped me learn to aim better
And cuz u have the weakest armor, so ur skill to survive also increases lot

As someone who has played the vickers temptest as a fighter in ARB and have done particularly well (ive had a lot of practice with large caliber cannons in aircraft prior) that was hilarious to watch. The best marksmanship i have ever seen

Chi-Ha LG is so good. I accidently put a 4.3 on my line up and took it to 5.3 and it did fine. Just a solid tank until someone remembers what machineguns are

The thing i hate about this tank is the amo rack in the back of the hull is buged. Any APHE like shell that gos through that area will set off the fuse of the shell despite having no amo there.

Been awhile since I last played, quit for a long time, but god do I love solid headphones! Easy to hear even small engines and penpoint there angles/locations to an ok degree compared to old time where it was just noisy. Another reason finding a good spot further in and cutting your engine (if your engine isn't powering your bloody turret that is) and just waiting for enemies to feed you.

The funny thing is, is that the 2S3M, which is in a folder alongside the 2S1, has a dozer blade and is the lowest BR tank to actually have one

I mean, it's also much fun bonking tanks 2000m away with the Obj. 268, so i think there's still a reason to play it, especially on long range maps where the range finder really helps.

My first game with this absolutely made me die laughing, EVERY single tank I shot blew up. It was ridiculous. I even shot through a tree with the HE and hit someone .5k away and it somehow killed them.

@@Luca21011 I read that in Arnold's voice lmao, just gotta let everyone push up and avoid letting the big ass first half of the tank stick out. The turret is so far back that turning corners is a problem cause they can shoot you way before you can get a shot on them.

Hell yeah 2s1 Gvozdika was a mean machine and especially the Bulgarian made one was best of the best followed by the mobile wonder of 2s11 Tundzha 120mm Self-Propelled Mortar which was entirely Bulgarian concept and engineering.
BTW I don't know if you had the pleasure to be introduced to the BMP 23 in WT as it was another epic Bulgarian machine from the 1980's. Hope you do and if not, hope you soon be.

the 2s1 of all vehicles is not what you should be complaining about, era based BRs are one of the worst ways to "fix" the compression at certain BRs

Ive seen this video 69420 times already certified odd classic.
Odd is certainly a better player than me but in my experience, the HE round is much more consistent than the HEAT round

i dont use HEAT on this thing only for up tiers very well armored.. even these ones if you pay some attention and learn the weak spots u can hit them with HE. absolute beast the 251...

OddBawz, I've seen most of your videos, and they all have 1 thing in common. And in this vehicle, not very much armor. When will you ever get in a vehicle that has max armor everywhere? Or does War Thunder just not have them?
I find the He shell more useful than the heatfs shell, with the heatfs shell I find you quite often just overpen stuff
you cant overpen with HEAT, thats not a thing
HEAT-FS are just kind of hit or miss shells. Sometimes, you one shot stuff and some other time, you just kill the hull machine gunner. They really have terrible post pen damage.
I found its HE shells very inconsistent - sometimes you 1 shot panthers in their front turret plates and sometimes you do nothing to IS1 shooting at its turret side.
This tank does quite well at top tier
