    I should have titled this "Behringer Power Play - 10 Years of Abuse Review"

      Hello. The link for the headphones isn’t highlighted to redirect

    I didn’t realize how simple and cheap the P16 setup was. Definitely putting this on my short list.

      Its pretty cool. There are other units. I'm sure they are just as easy to implement. The Powerplays are just so cheap. And clearly last a long time.

    Thanks, Jeremy! You answered pretty much everything I needed to know! I also use UAD interfaces with Console and wonder how that plays into the equation if at all?

    How can I use the dangerous music monitoring system for talk back in con junction with the P16?

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  3 года назад +1

      There are a couple different ways. You can do what I did. ( using it as Digitsl up via ADAT cables) Keep your talkback hard patched to a consistent input. I keep some throw away preamps for this purpose. Then in my IO it automatically busses to the correct patch for the talkback spot I assigned on the p 16.
      (Using the TRS connections) this is actually way easier. Just plug-in the talkback into whichever trs input on the p16 box you want. Doesn't require a DAW at all to work.

    Question: How did you connect drummer headphones? You sent his/her mix to the outputs of your interface but you didn't fill in the gaps of how you connected their headphones to the outputs of your interface.
    I assume you have TRS 1/4" outs on your interface? Where are you plugging in the headphones for each person's mix? This is prior to adding the Behringer system. Thanks!

    Hey how do I connect 4.4 balanced IEMs to the behringer 16? Do I just use an adapter from the 6.3 to 4.4? Or do I use the 6.5 line out(R & L) to 4.4?

    I have the p16 system, but set up separately from the DAW. So playback only comes through as stereo on 1 & 2, whereas the live channels can be set up as needed from the interface control app. Latency when going through the DAW makes it unusable, on a pretty fast mac with a thunderbolt interface. I guess maybe a Dante system or similar could work latency free? It would be great to get playback and live playing from the same channel, so that bass is always bass etc.

      I'll be honest I've never noticed an issue with latency... The unit itself doesn't introduce any extra latency to the system. At least in my setup.

    • @perpetualgrimace
      @perpetualgrimace 3 года назад +1

      You using many plugins while tracking? Stuff like amp sims or anything with a lookahead function will introduce latency. I broke down and bought a damn kemper a couple years back partially because I was tired of dealing with it. And I stopped doing top down mixing. I also have a (theoretically) fast mac and a thunderbolt interface. 🤷‍♂️

      I usually record a full band with no plugins and a buffer size of 512 (256 minimum before problems), around 20 channels. Possible cab IR:s etc on hardware. Overdubs can work with software monitoring.

    • @perpetualgrimace
      @perpetualgrimace 3 года назад +1

      @@JayBeBerg yeah that sounds pretty reasonable to me 🤷‍♂️

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  3 года назад +1

      512 is seemingly your issue. If I'm hitting 256 I start getting nervous. I'm normally tracking down at 64 or 128. You have need to look at a CPU/Ram upgrade depending what you're working on now.

    Great video!
    Do you ever get any digital "clock issue" type noise in your Behringer Powerplay system?
    I have a similar system from Elite Core Audio and love the ADAT feature, but some of the units get digital clicks and pops as if there is a clock mismatch. I was wondering if that was an issue with other types of similar technology.

      I never have. If everything is set the same it just runs as it should.

    What about a Behringer X-air 18 and every body can run their own mixes from their phones?

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  3 года назад

      Unless your already using it as your interface… It could work but it would mean getting alot of other pieces. Logistically you would need analog outs to go to the x air. Then long runs for headphone extensions to get to the players. Then headphone amps. It would work but it’s alot to mix on their phone.

    I use this sometimes at my local studio. I notice some hiss I. The headphones when not playing anything. Wondering if u ever have that issue or if it’s something in their chain

    Hey man, like your studio!…. Hey I just watched this video on setting up your studio headphone mixes. I’m in the process of finishing up with my new building for my studio…I run ProTools as well but not The HD version. I stopped with version 12 with AVID. I’m wanting to setup my 6 headphone mixes using my Furman HR6 mixers and the HDS6 amplifier. It uses Cat 5 cables out to the mixers….you kinda lost me in setting up your system due to having the HD unit and the way you’ve set yours up. Could you run through a typical setup flow chart using 2 Focusrite Clarrett 8 mic pre boxes, ProTools, etc…. Thanks Tony

    • @RecordingStudioLoser
      @RecordingStudioLoser  2 года назад +1

      It would be the same idea. Your outputs would be the outputs on protools would be the outputs on your clarett.
      Then you would need a physical connection between the outputs on the clarett to the furman.
      Then setting up your mixes mean setting up sends to the applicable clarett output.

    I've watched a lot of these headphone mixing videos and every single one of them is showing you while using a computer maybe you should show how to mic up your amps in another room and then relay those through your headphone mixer and out to the players very simple no need for any computers at all
