pro tip: on the last bleed push the handle to the ground before inserting the drain bolt. This allows enough space in the cylinder for the handle to be parallel to the ground with the jack let out all the way.

Thanks a million! The manual for this exact jack in the video incorrectly instructs you to bleed through the fill hole (which is how you do it on most hydraulic jacks). 3 unsuccessful attempts to bleed via the fill hole, where it would only take 10-15 drops oil. The bleed screw was the key. Took 1/3 bottle of hydraulic oil. No wonder it wouldn't go above 50%. Works great now. Well done video. Easy to see everything and useful narration/explanation.

I have exactly same Floor Jack (Pittsburgh). It lifted not that high, and I usually used a wooden block 4x4 to lift higher. I always thought that is how high that Jack can lift, but now I think I might need to inspect and adjust it in the way it was done in this great and very detailed film. Thank you very much.
Update: I inspected that Floor Jack: There was enough oil, I added a bit, and bleeded some air (though it seems after every use it accumulate a bit air every time you raise the jack. I assume it is normal), but in general everything was fine. It was just I thought it doesn't lift high enough, I would buy another higher jack, but those are very heavy. But I feel so much more confident after this inspection following the film, bcs I always can inspect and monitor my Floor Jack from now on. The film is really helpful. Thank you again.

And I have no problem to lift on the same height as those taller via combination of 1 or sometimes 2 of 4x4 wooden blocks. Do you happen know, if you can switch fm/ Park to Neutral, if the transmission fluid is drained? I need to replace CV Axle, and want to drain before. I'm researching for that answer. The car is 2001 Saturn SL2 (small passenger car). Thank you again.

It really only worked correctly for a short time and I eventually gave up using it years ago. But the one I've been using broke, so I need to get this one working again to do some front end work on my truck. Plus it's basically a new jack. I tried just adding more oil a couple of years ago, which helped a tad, but never thought about bleeding it....only makes sense. Why did I not think of that LOL. This video gave me hope. I will come back and update my comment if (hopefully when) it works.

It could still have air in the line. It's the same thing basically as a brake line. You can't get force out of your car brakes if there's air in the system because the air compresses instead of moving the piston.
You probably have a bad seal on one of the bolts then and just need a new little rubber o ring.

@GORILLA PIMP Gave up... I'm actually considering white-trashing it... (Go buy a brand new one, put the old one in the box and return it)... I figure for the price I paid, I should've got more use out of this product... than 3 uses...

Great video. I have a really old large truck jack that I got at a tag sale. It works but it’s very difficult to turn the handle so that it raises and lowers my cars. How do you fix it so that so that it locks in place and lowers without me having to get three guys to help lower the Jack?

NEVER use a jack with no jack stand incase the jack gives out. I dont care how " Good " the jack is, its not worth the risk

Do you know how to fix a jack when you didn't tighten the handle while using it.I don't know now to fix it as it pumps up 1/4 of the way and then when you stop it falls down
