    Beautiful photos. Very impressive from the Ricoh, amazing versatility.
    Also I love the rant about “real street photography”. I tried that style out in Florence recently with my M8 and 35mm Lens. I felt even that was a little wide for that I wanted.
    The experience did make me consider the Leica q2 for travel/street though.

Bit worried about that. And whether leaving it on between shots is better for the battery consumption? Would be sweet if you let us know :P

    lbs. for lbs., cu in. for cu in. these are the most densely powerful cameras ever made in my opinion. I fell in love with this line back in 2009 with GRDIII (their naming conventions are confusing, "D" for digital in the early small sensor versions) and took one around the world for nearly 2 years. Honestly if I were to keep just one digital camera, it'd be one of these (currently have the GRIII since launch - it and the GR are the only cameras I've ever pre-ordered). Love it when actual seasoned pros discover them. They're 100% not street shooters - they're just fantastic, one-hand capable, tiny little monsters of cameras. Cheers!

    It’s almost never the camera or the lenses but it’s ALWAYS the photographer and their knowledge of the kit they’re using. You’re a professional and although the GRIIIx was used with standard settings in place, you know how to use studio lighting and how to edit a photo properly. I’ve never shot with the GRIIIx but I have used the GRII before and it’s a really nice camera.
    The primary reason I don’t own one is because it doesn’t have an EVF or OVF. I am a street photographer and like you I primarily shoot with manual lenses and putting the camera to my eye is better ergonomically than using an LCD get my composition right. And yeah, most RUclipsrs talking about street photography don’t know what they’re talking about. Love your channel.

    • @kaskoPhoto
      @kaskoPhoto  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! But to be honest about the editing… I took care of two zits, pumped up the vibrance and added a little vignette, all in Lightroom. (So very minimal retouching). And the cure all for not knowing studio lighting is a large white umbrella. As far as the OVF/EVF I feel your pain their with the camera. But I really did want a go with me anywhere that wasn’t my iPhone. This seems to be scratching that itch.

      @@kaskoPhoto agreed! If you’re looking to have a everyday carry camera that’s not a smartphone, in my case the Samsung Galaxy 22 Ultra, the GR series of cameras make for a fine choice. Trust me when I tell you, the Ultra 22 has enough cameras to suite any casual need but using a mobile phone as your daily driver doesn’t feel right to me.
      My smallest cameras are my LUMIX GX9 and the Leica M240. Everything I have, in terms of digital mirrorless camera are interchangeable lens systems. Thanks for the detailing your editing process. Given how much RUclips compresses photos, yours looked great. Certainly could tell the difference between using a full-frame Leica and the GR but both sets of photos were fantastic and the average viewer would never really know the difference.

    Thank you so much for this interesting and intriguing video. I have tried to use my Ricoh GR IIIx with my Profoto Connect for Fuji. Unfortunately, I have found that the flash power cannot be changed. Regardless of whether I set the power to 10 or 1 (on the flash itself) the flash power remains the same. Thanks for taking the time!

    • @kaskoPhoto
      @kaskoPhoto  Год назад

      Well, the flash itself is completely independent of the remote. The only reason this could be happening is if you have it sent to TTL on the connect to remote versus twisting it all the way to manual.

And if it’s in less capable hands, the best camera to make them capable hands. Yes the GR has great IQ but absolutely no better then the 100V. This long video to end up with a short sloppy pseudo comparing at the end. So counter-logic to the whole idea of the film. If You did Leica and gr3x in the same environement : then show it correctly(!), side by side, show differences. Not confusingly for our brains, as you did it here. Really "brilliantly" defeets our trust.

      Well putting a 60mp sensor (any brand) next to that camera with a side by side comparison to show differences would be a worthless effort for very obvious reasons. I was showing this camera in studio for those who aren’t interested in a system camera - rather a camera they can enjoy and use in many ways. I’m sure there are other RUclipsrs who have compared the iPhone to the XX camera that would interest you. But thank you for your well thought out feedback.
