  • The Half Double Crochet in the third loop only creates a gorgeous ridged effect. It's very easy, and gorgeous too.

    Timestamps:
    Foundation row worked FLAT - 1:00
    First actual Hdc third loop row FLAT - 2:10
    Finding the final stitch of each row FLAT - 3:00
    Hdc third loop worked in ROUNDS - 4:00
    Making the 2nd row worked in ROUNDS - 5:15

    This stitch is really lovely as a border on baby blankets. Like you, I use a round of single crochet to “cinch down” the last row and finish it nicely. I also used it around on a cocoon cardigan as the border edging going around. Thanks for reminding me about the use in rows. I think this might be my next dishcloth pattern.

    Thanks for this info! I was expecting something a little more complicated, but this will be a breeze to do! I noticed that you started off your first row in the back loop of the foundation chain. Is this necessary for the stitch, or just the way you prefer? I’ve never seen it done this way, so am curious.

      This is just how I prefer, it does not matter.
