If you remember Bruce Sutter from the 70's and 80's, his pitching style is similar, though Yates strikes out more hitters and throws much harder.

I'm old... 57 and I've been following them since I was 10 in 1977. What amuses me is I live in the South (dad was a Dodger fan) and now I see Dodger hats everywhere...at one time that was almost just me wearing one. I love this ownership...smart and rich...two things that rarely go together in baseball.
Was in Scotland in 2018 and took a picture of me and a gentleman sitting on a bench next me. Both wearing Dodger hats. We communicated by signaling as he didn't speak English, but we and his friend that joined us in the picture enjoy the common bond of seeing another Dodger Fan so far from home.

How can the Dodgers be bad for baseball when they're funding the cheap owners with the luxury taxes they are having to pay. The other teams that get any money from the luxury tax should have to spend that money, they should not b e allowed to sit on that money. They need to show how much they got and who they signed with that money, otherwise it should go back to the teams that got taxed.

Thank you for mentioning the McCourt Era iTalk! A lot of people forget the Dodgers were broke throughout the late 90s/2000s and Ned Colletti had to figure out a way to keep the team somewhat competitive. Even then we still fell behind the rest of the NL West during those years. Now to see how the organization has grown and built themselves into a place players want to come and play, people may not like it but have to respect it. The Dodgers are the model organization in the league right now. Every other team needs to take notes and follow the blueprint.

5:36, thats what people did with the Rangers in 2023, even though we devoloped Jonah Heim, Josh Jung, Evan Carter, Jose Leclerc, Adolis Garcia, and Nate Lowe for that playoff run, we only bought a middle infeild and a starting rotation. There's another reason why players prefer to play for the Dodgers over other franchises. They stand behind their players......and that's no secret. They see potential where other's see weakness. Case in point like with Michael Kopech. Also, a few years ago when they traded with the Yankees for Joey Gallo. Nobody in the rest of MLB was going to touch that.
Not to mention the Andrew Toles situation as well. Just good business, and a front office that actually cares for its players.

you are very correct also and assuming that not every dodger pitcher is going to reach thier potential or not have serious injuries. It’s just not a thing that happens anymore. Happy too much pitching is never a problem.
Considering how many guys Ithey have coming back from injuries and how many pitchers they have who have innings limits and don’t go deep into games in general, their bullpen is going to be heavily taxed, which is why they need to upgrade it . last year was a perfect scenario for the bullpen and it’s not wise to think that’s going to repeat itself this year so they did the right thing which is preemptively make it better rather than wait till the deadline when it becomes very expensive and you’re going to have to give up top prospects. In other words a Dodgers are a very smart organization.

Ok. Three seasons ago I took a long hard look at my favorite MLB team. I stayed with them for decades. When the Dodgers signed Shohei Ohtani it was like a beacon for me. How many more seasons was I going to watch my favorite players get traded away because they were getting too good to be affordable? Our young talent maturing and thriving on another team. I remembered that growing up I always loved watching Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale. The Dodgers always seemed to be competitive. I wanted to enjoy watching my favorite team every game. I was done agonizing over owner mismanagement and cheapness. Look what I stumbled into with my Shohei decision. So, I don't care what the rest of MLB thinks about the big spending spree. I freaking love it. Even got a World Series out of it last season. Looking for more. If they don't repeat I still will have it that they didn't give up on their players or their fans. Roberto Clemente will always be my favorite player.

People forget how decimated the dodgers rotation was at the end of the season two years in a row. 2023: broken down Kershaw, rookie Bobby Miller and 350 lb Lance Lynn. That was the year Eduardo Rodriguez declined a trade to LA.
2024: Yamamoto, Flaherty and Walker Buehler plus a ton of BULLPEN games.
