I DID see this on Broadway. A friend had treated me to the play for my birthday....I think, perhaps, one of the best birthday gifts I've ever received. It's really funny, in 20201 while working at home with all the craziness going on in the world, I thought of the song Around the World, and began exploring these Grey Garden videos...I was so touched and moved by this song, Ms Ebersole's performance, the entire production comes back to me from time to time.
Does the woman have three lungs-UnbeLIEVable breath control and phrasing! What a treat to watch a seasoned professional perform at the top of her craft. Brava!
The beauty of her music permeates heart and soul. Inspirational ! "Will you?" , the question, posed so rhythmically, poignantly, provoking a thougtful, soul-searching response.

You hit the nail on the head - effortless phrasing, and soft high notes are easy for her, but it's all used so tastefully for expression.
This is absolutely Brilliant. I can't stop listening to it over and over.
The absolutely haunted expression on her face just breaks my heart.....poor Edie.
She is so fantastic! Saw this show twice on Broadway and would go back again if it was still running. Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

I always cry when I listen to this song! It's just amazing!!!!!
Gorgeous song, genius performance.
I wish I had seen this. Oh, well. At least, someone preserved this song for us.
Love the song and love Christine!
The only singer I've ever found who sounds something like Doretta Morrow.
Oh, my! And here I was just talking about Doretta Morrow the other day. She passed away so young! What shame!
Chills - love it. Desperately hoping this comes to London's West End! Thank you for posting.
