The story of Big and Little Edie is one of the most paradoxically sad and inspirational stories ever.
I’m so glad Grey Gardens has been returned to its former glory.
I love that most of the furniture is original to the house.

@@anneblubaugh58 220k in 1979 is equivalent to 900k in 2022. By the looks of it she put in over a couple million in renovations and upkeep over the years. The money that must have went into this old historic estate home to put in new walls, plaster and ceiling work, attic and basement work, new flooring, probably new sub=flooring just to eliminate cat/animal smells and years of neglect must have been incredible. After all the home went through Racoons and over 32 cats roaming around doing their business everywhere. There business is very pungent!! The Beales really let the place go badly they were both very eccentric Big Edie and Little Edie. I saw the Grey Gardens doc from the 70’s as well as the 2009 docudrama that Drew Barrymore starred as Litle Edie for HBO. She was excellent as Edie. I'd rather listen to the owner who is more interesting and has a more pleasant voice. Thank you ma'am for restoring and loving the house. I believe old houses have energy/spirit and want to be loved, cared for, etc. I love my 1929 cottage and I am thankful to the people before me who cared for it until I could get here because I LOVE MY COTTAGE! Thanks for the upload to show us the owner.

I first saw this story in a documentary on either TCM or PBS. I was mesmerized. I’m glad to see the house restored.

How much life, how much pain for one house. This house "make up" in a way compensates the past. Now its a beautiful home to enjoy.

What the hell good is a beach house if you can’t just plop down and put your feet up? This poor house has been turned into just another hamptons show place.

@@rachelmckee8980 I feel like a lot of the criticism of him that seems to be on here is just thinly veiled homophobia...He didn't seem at all wrong to host this segment to me. Lots of enthusiasm for a very sensitive revivification of the property. What's so wrong with that?

I try to tell my husband all the time that antiques are NOT shabby. He doesn't like used items. I'm with you about using different pieces in different rooms. Grey Gardens is beautiful once more! How ironic that a mother and daughter bought Grey Gardens.

It's beautiful. I had no idea about any of this. My dream is to own my pwn home, graceful and delight with wonderful enchanted gardens. I was looking online tonight at older homes when suddenly a vid on this one , the before and after arrived. There was a woman in a long fur coat standing in the front yard of this home. She looked very intriguing. She looked like a star. I had no idea who she was. This is all quite interesting.
I'm very glad this home was restored. It's beautiful
