- King Ashurbanipal of Assyria was the most powerful man on earth during his reign in the 7th century BC.
For nearly 40 years he ruled the largest empire the world had seen, which stretched over 1,000 miles from the shores of the eastern Mediterranean to the mountains of western Iran.
This major exhibition tells the story of Ashurbanipal through the British Museum’s unparalleled collection of Assyrian treasures and rare loans. Step into Ashurbanipal’s world through displays that evoke the splendour of his palace, with its spectacular sculptures, sumptuous furnishings and exotic gardens. Marvel at the workings of Ashurbanipal’s great library, the first in the world to be created with the ambition of housing all knowledge under one roof. Come face to face with one of history’s greatest forgotten kings.

Netflix must do a series based on the life of Ashurbanipal starring Diego Luna and Ghassan Massoud as Ashurbanipal.
Hollywood should finally make a Movie about the ancient Assyrians
You right khoni
I was also thinking about it. We need movies about King Ashur and our Assyrian Empire. @@Ashur-Mesopotamia
I'm Assyrian and i am proud of this

The Assyrian empire’s fall was the fault of Ashurbanipal. Because he died and left no adult son to rule. He should of left an adult son and teach him how to rule such a wide empire that was based on centralized power. Shame on Ashurbanipal to fail in such an important task. Also, Ashurbanipal never participated in any military campaign, he stayed in his palace and sent his trusted leaders to complete the tasks for him. Unlike all other Assyrian kings in which they used to lead the army themselves, not sending military leaders and staying at the palace. I’m proud of Assyria and most of its kings. Tiglath Pileser iii was the greatest king Assyria ever had.
@@TheYOUSIFYOUSIF After Tiglath Pileser lll, came Sargon ll, Sennacherib, Esarhaddon and atlast AshurBaniPal. These were the kings who expanded Assyria, like no one before.

I went to see it today. It was indeed incredible. Highly recommend it. Long live Assyria Mesopotamia Iraq
He wasn't Iraqi... don't try and fabricate our history. Iraq was established in 1958
Martin Odisho he was assyrian born in assyria which is iraq td
@Sarah Asaad you lot call us iraqi when it suits you... we absolutely hate that label, we are not Arab, not iraqi, we are Assyrian. Our lands have been stolen and you lot try to systemically eradicate our culture, language and heritage so 🖕 you all.
You arabs try to claim everything our grandfathers created, this is not your history and you’re still occupiers.
@Sarah Asaad its more right to say iraq is Assyria tbh. iraq is new fam, lets lift up the great mesopotamian (greek for Beth Nahrin) history - which is Assyrian - and not arab (obviously). And Assyria was an empire on two continents, not only mesopotamia (even though it was the center). Long live Assyria indeed. Free Assyria!
Amazed to be a descendant of this civilization. Assyrians still exist to this day but we are stateless!
Son of Mountain i am lol
@Son of Mountain Lmao I only expected this comment to be from a kurd. I wasn't wrong.
@Son of Mountain do you have evidence that proves he's wrong? saying to someone you never met on the internet that he is not the race he claims to be is a broad statement and you need evidence. saying it out of the blue shows your hate towards the Assyrian. you sir are a racist
Stick your easily offended ass on a pole. He might be ignorant, sure, but hasn't been racist at all.
@@Gabu_ well i don't know about you but we live side by side with Kurdish people and only the racist ones who deny our nationality and separate a propaganda that we are not true Assyrians. I'm speaking from experience. he surely know that we are the true Assyrians but denying it on purpose because he's jealous of us because he knows we belong there but they don't want us there you get it now why i called him racist? because if we are not Assyrians they can kick us of that land but if we are they can't kick us it will be extremely racist.

Just don't be as brutal as your ancestors please. 😂
Amazing exhibition trailer! The guys at British Museum are my spirit animal in museology. To all people who can't grasp the idea of artistically representing history - the accent is used in order to convey that he is 1) not a native of the British Isles and 2) lived before nearly 3000 years. I'm wondering how you think Ashurbanipal should have sounded? Thant, of course, is a rhetorical question.
I speak modern assyrian which is not that close to what he would have sounded like but close enough. Having heard English with a modern assyrian accent, I feel someone speaking English with an ancient assyrian accent might have a more Turkish or maybe slightly Hebrew accent
One of the Great Kings of Ashur (Assyria) . Khayeh Malkeh d’Ashurayeh hal abad.
You do not exist that is why you want to steal other peoples’ history, culture, and lands. You are just blabbering, until today you are all fabricating stories and trying to believe your own lies. Even the lands you stole, every place they dig Assyrian (Assuri) artifacts and history appears and that is a slap in your faces, every single day. Go look for your roots may be you will find them some where, and your land if you have one is there in Iran and Azerbaijan
Son of Mountain i see you on every comment i read, stop being so negative against us assyrian people, we're still here, and we wont disappear. Even if every one is against us. ASSYRIA WILL RISE KHAYA ASHUR U ASHURAYUTA
@Son of Mountain You have the utmost audacity to say that thousands of years of history is nonsense and that Kurdish people are the original owners of the land, don't be a fool. The Ottomans brought the Kurd 400 years ago as cheap workers, nothing else. We have nothing against you but if you and especially your people say lies that doesn't have anything to hold them thrn please just be quite.
Son of Mountain @Son of Mountain You have some balls to talk so much shit about us, Assyrians. Have some sort of respect why don't you.
KHAYA ATOUR
@Son of Mountain how many artecfacts and tablets prove the Assyrian identity?! All of them , how many prove the kurdish one ? I dont know and have never heard of one , i mean even Syria comes from Assyria, it is very clear that neither arabs nor kurds nor anyone else belong there , it is an Assyrian land , if jews can make a country based on their religious book , Assyrians should too based on their actual history that cannot be fabricated, im no Assyrian , but i wish i was one

Cyaxares 😉👓🤏
goosebumps. proud to be assyrian.
@Son of Mountain Judging by your default picture, you're one of those Kurdish trolls so entertaining you is the least I'd like to do, but I'll leave you with this. You are sadly mistaken and your historical knowledge is as bent as your beliefs are. "Nestorian" is an inaccurate label that was forced upon the Assyrian people when the Jacobites essentially reduced all doctrines of tradition to Nestorius, which was an archbishop of Constantinople. Interesting how the Catholic Church was interested in dismantling the Assyrian name. Do your research before trying to come at someone with historical bullshit. :)
@Son of Mountain Again, you are incorrect. In fact, the term “Nestorian” was introduced by the Jacobites (Monophysites), who thereby reduced the doctrines of an entire tradition to the person of Nestorius, because of his close links with the school of Antioch and that of the Monophysites to the figure of Jacob Baradæus. For their part, the Assyrians never called themselves Nestorians; the truth is that they had the label forced upon them against their will.

Secondly, Iraq was under British rule and the Hashemite Kingdom of Iraq from 1932 until 1958 in which the republic of Iraq was first declared after the coup. Why would Britain want to overthrow their own territory to declare it our own state? Kind of contradictory.

He's from the Russian part of Assyria...
At the time Russia wouldn't exist for about 1500 years. That being said, unless they speak in the proper language m.ruclips.net/video/Aj3b8DH5Xps/видео.html they might as well speak with a Russian/slavic accent because it was the main language to dominate the area.

How do I find work at British museum?
Mesopotamia is the homeland of the Assyrians. The famous royal cities of the Assyrians, Ashur, Nimrud (Kalhu), Arbela, Dur-Sharrukin and Nineveh were built in it. The Assyrians ruled for approximately 1,300 years - from about 2000 B.C. to 612/10 BC - in northern Mesopotamia, an ancient landscape between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. A clear reference to the existence of the Assyrians, on the other hand, can already be found in the Old Testament (1st Book of Moses 2:14).
There it says:
* “… the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates..."
I saw the lions at the end of the video and wanted to give a little context as to why lions were involved in the story. I submit the following ancient text:
2 Kings 17:24 The king of As·syrʹi·a then brought people from Babylon, Cuʹthah, Avʹva, Haʹmath, and Seph·ar·vaʹim and settled them in the cities of Sa·marʹi·a in place of the Israelites; they took possession of Sa·marʹi·a and lived in its cities. 25 When they first began dwelling there, they did not fear Jehovah. So *Jehovah sent lions* among them, and they killed some of the people. 26 It was reported to the king of As·syrʹi·a: “The nations that you have taken into exile and resettled in the cities of Sa·marʹi·a do not know the religion of the God of the land. So he keeps sending lions among them, which are putting them to death, because none of them know the religion of the God of the land.”
27 At that the king of As·syrʹi·a commanded: “Have one of the priests whom you took into exile from there return to live there and to teach them the religion of the God of the land.” 28 So one of the priests whom they had taken into exile from Sa·marʹi·a came back to live in Bethʹel, and he began to teach them how they should fear Jehovah.

Incredible story! This is the king who reigned in the year 666 discussed in Revelation. What do you need in order to buy or sell? Coinage tells history too. For instance, the oldest coinage in Ukraine displays the face of Jesus, along with the Ukrainian emblem, not Russian. Also, "The Ghost Dance was associated with Wovoka's prophecy of an end to colonial expansion while preaching goals of clean living, an honest life, and cross-cultural cooperation by Native Americans." Check it out too!
@Gil of Assyria Solomon is indeed a historical king revered by many nations. He wasn't wealthy because of the money, but because wisdom and understanding is better than silver and gold.

@@TheObserversTV That's where I disagree. You don't know the half of what happened to nebby during his reign.
@@Savage-ws7sy Well I mean, everything that we know about a king is documented during the king's reign.
@@TheObserversTV Yes. This being said during his reign, he had many prophetic dreams entailing the history of the world centuries before it had happened. I suggest looking it up might help you understand how interesting Nebuchadnezzar's life was like.,,, Lastly, it was him and his father (Nabopolassar) that conquered the Assyrian empire in the first place.
@@Savage-ws7sy 1 issue is that scholars/historians see the "prophetic dreams" and the rest of the Book of Daniel as fictional, and the downfall of Assyria was mostly an internal problem such as drought/over population and civil war, which split the empire into 2 empires, Neo-Babylonian Empire and the Median Empire.

I am Ashurbanipal, the main cause of the end of Assyrian empire. When I died, I only left a minor son to rule a huge empire based on centralized power systems surrounded by enemies waiting to have a weak king to revolt against. I Ashurbanipal, failed to leave an adult king and to teach him how to rule Assyria, so I caused the direct fall of the great Assyria. Most of you think I’m very great which is true, but none of you know that I never participated in any military campaign. Instead, I sent my most trusted military leaders to finish the job for me while I stayed in my palace busy with my garden and my library.
(All the information mentioned is true)
