Welcome to the 18th episode of the Texas Plinking 1 MOA At 1,000 Yards Challenge. A monthly video series where I let 5 fans come out with their equipment and attempt to shoot a 10" gong at 1,000 yards in under 10 shots. If they hit it, they can use their remaining shots on the 5" gong. The 10" gong is worth 10 points and goes down 1 point after every shot. The 5" gong is worth 20 points and goes down 2 points after every shot. Once both are hit, the challenge is complete and each unfired round is an additional point. New episodes go live on the 1st Monday of every month!

Paul Harrell passed away today
M1 garand guy here!!! Guys I tried the wind was like 12-15 mph cross wind, im gonna reload a heavier bullet and I definitely wanna try again! I had such a good time with some fantastic people and fantastic shooters!!
Absolute kudos to you Andrew for having tried the challenge, by imposing you an even harder challenge on top of it. Please come back on the channel later with hand-loaded 30-06, and PONG the gong ^^ Impressive eye sight too, can barely see at 110 yard with a Mosin, so I can't imagine how it is at 1000 with a Garand.
The way you were walking it in I thought you had it after shot #6
Hats off to you. I'd never even seen the target to get the shot in the same zip code. Can't wait to see you come back.
Amazing chootin bud!!
Hello from New Zealand. Good work.
That guy with the Garand has to come back every month until he hits it. It's the law!
Start a petition.I agree
Agree 100%! 😂👍
Garand guy had a 5-25x56 contact in his right eye
With a built in ranger finder too ;)
I’m more amazed at the eyesight of the garand guy
I never realized how bad my eyesight is until I tried to hit a target at 100 yards with a red dot. This guy makes me feel blind
👊
@jackjanezic7752 I recently thought it was my eyes too. Son in law has a savage axis with one of those cheap scopes. Yikes. Not a Leupold that's for sure
Yeah, that dude is blessed.
I feel like if you're brave enough to attempt 1000 yards and iron sights , you deserve a spotter. Because you've given yourself a disadvantage that none of the other competitors have.
Agree 100%! 👍 I mean, they were kind of spotting for him.
Beautiful M1 Garand. I cannot imagine what the sight picture will look like at 1,000 yds.
I shot mine at 500 and oh boy it was hell lol
There is none. Just sights lol
Well seeing that, no way accurate shots at that far occurred in the war. Might be a few who could and may have. Volley fire to hit more likely.
@@1014p There was a Finnish sniper in WWII named Simo Häyhä. He preferred iron sights and is to date one of the, if not the deadliest sniper. He has a proven death count of 259 confirmed kills, but his memoirs stating around 500. He used a Finnish Mosin-Nagant M28-30 (basically called SAKO M/28-30). The Russians hated him :)
Mama Plinking always has the best vibe
Exactly...I wish my family was nice like her...I basically don't even have family at all
I was soooo cheering on the Garand guy. Serious props to him for bringing it and definitely getting close.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd you spoiled it for the rest of us, no thanks SO MUCH
Spray and pray. Could have done that with my SKS..
@@StevenL00 You spoiled it for yourself by reading comments before watching. That's all on you man
@@lmbear you arnt very bright 😂
The grand was impressive.
Your Mom is a sweetheart !!! You should let her HOST an entire show ..... that would be fun !! Props from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada !!!
Garand guy got gold in our hearts
Your mom is awesome lol. She adds a lot of excitement and personality to the videos
Your mom is awesome
@@blakebennett2424 your mom won't stop calling me
@@zachsaylor4325 that’s odd. I bet you’ve never even shot a gun, why you even here bro?
@@blakebennett2424 I'm here for his mom
Great sportsmanship and I was rooting so hard for open sights guy like no other!
24:08 Without realizing it, I was rooting for the M1 Garand. I can't even imagine what a target at 1000 yards would look like with a mechanical sight.
Looks like an inch dot at 100. 🤷♂️
There isn’t a target. He’s aiming at a point of reference like the corner of the berm, or something he can actually see at 1000 yards.
@@jimyeatsyou're exactly right. No way he can actually see a target that small from that far. Gotta pick something that stands out and go from there
Check out the globe sighs on the high power and palma rifles.
Not only did the mic pic her up... so did the RUclips algorithm (funny ads after vid) 🤣
The guy with the carbon barrel 6.5 with a green stock. Your gun is a heck of a shooter, and it was doing everything u told it to do. I noticed once u found shot 5, u started blindly cranking on the windage turret. Something that will help is slowing down and using the retical to measure. Then on I think shot 7 u dialed the wrong way. That happens to the best of us, lol. Just stay on the gun as much as possible.
First time at 1000. With match ammo too. I thought that was very impressive.
Sorry wrong green rifle.
,I wonder to see if there is a episode that only vintage rifle is allowed for the challenge... *Somebody support that suggestion...😁
Match between Springfield, Mosin Nagant, Type 97, and K98k would be nice.
Good idea 👍
yessssssssssssss
I've been thinking of signing up for this. I have several k98s and a 1903a4 replica.
@@alexm4965 go for it,,, sir I love to watch you there... I wish you get that little shiny 🥇 Gold Cion...
Dude your mom is awesome. Hope to see her back on the board soon.
Really hope you are able to keep up this series, thank you for the awesome content.
I don't think i have ever shot past 100 yards, but I love this series.
The M1 is SO iconic, that it has to be or should be a fan favorite. Iron sights vs optics has it in a completely different category obviously. Loved seeing that beautiful rifle.
Spotters: I didn’t get that 🔭
Garand chad: I did 😎
Another great video and thank you to all of the participants.
I’ll be watching the mighty M1 Garand “ The Best battle implement ever devised” General George Patton in action for sure and certain 😀.
Mom’s coming back, heck yeah! So cool Brandon!
Honestly, Minute of Barn at 1000 with the Garand by Andrew demonstrated ridiculous skill, and he actually dialed it in to ALMOST popping it... Outstanding. Thanks for calling him since he was riding irons and letting him finish that second clip on film (don't get to say CLIP very often on this series and mean it hahahaha). And Brace driving it home with the SCAR had all us poors tingling. REEEAAALLLY wanted the American to get the tag. Good job Cody and great improvement from your last round.
Absolutely awesome awesome awesome episode. Thanks for the great content as always. I've never shot further than 400, and I just finished an American Predator 308 build... Man I wish I could afford to sign up and make the trip for an episode!
Shooting a garand that close to the 🎯 at 1000y... He didn't hit but still, I'm impressed 👍
I have used a garand at 600 yards, open sights of course, shooting at a 4'x4' target and only hit it once... I thought that was good, but after seeing this guy and his garand, wow he's impressive to keep his hits in the area...
Another awesome episode! I’m so glad you were able to continue making this series. I love the little surprises like featuring an open sights M1 Garand. The ping when it ejects the empty clip is so Iconic. Happy Labor Day everyone. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸Stay safe!
Thank you.
Im so glad we can still have these challenges due to youtube being a pimp
For the guy with the m1 garand, thats some shooting my guy. For iron sights at that distance.. 👏 bravo sir
Go Brace! OK representing
I'm a simple man. I see SCAR, I click watch.
Let’s see. M1 Garand, Service Iron sights(no National Match sights), Old service ammo, and a plate you can hardly see.
That was one of the bravest attempts at a challenge I’ve seen in a long while. Hats off to the marksman and thank you so much for letting him try. I love it when the folks try this challenge with non typical rifles.
Well done.
Mama plinking iron sights Smith & Wesson 500 FOR THE WIN !!!! Easy peasy🎉
All day long! 😂
Always a good time watching.
Love that SCAR!
Spotter 1: "I didn't get that one."
Spotter 2: "I didn't either."
Guy shooting open sight M1: "I did."
Love this channel and I love this series everything about it the guns the people the way you run this thing your mom in the background cheering everybody on with every shot, from all of us viewers thank you so much Brandon you're a great ambassador for the sport
Hats off to the gentleman with the iron sights he was definitely putting them out there and thanks for allowing him to continue to shoot. You had some good shooters on this episode and thanks for sharing.
Pretty badass open sights display
Another great showing, Brandon! Keep them coming!
Oh, Garand w/o scope... how brave the shoter.
His eyes, wet thumb, are his ballistic computer.
I'm sure there were more than a few ghosts at the range watching and cheering on as well. I've seen a Canadian ww2 veteran shoot his 06 at 100yd bullseye vs me and a scoped rifle. I felt very humble back then. This episode was made all the better by that shooter and his open sights.
Great video.. and Rosco is the "Sauce Boss!!' :)
Another excellent episode!! Open sights at 1000, he would have hit a human no problem.
Glad the Texas plinking mom is back, what a great mom!!
This is my favorite RUclips series.
So stoked thanks newsletter love the content
so glad the series is back, scared me a bit with that post last month. This is the best format on YT. Seen some other channels copying this lately.
Woohoo! been waiting for this, love the content Brandon! Keep em coming!
Thanks for the support!
Such a fun series.
Nice Labor Day treat with a 1 MOA at 1000 episode! Thanks Brandon!
Never wanted someone to hit the target more than ol mate with the M1
What you do is awesome. Great format and great shooters.
Fantastic show again, thanks
Just an idea, maybe bring out a 1000 yard 1moa challenge for open sight rifles or for basic red dot set ups? Maybe a 700 yard straight wall cartridge challenge ? Alot of 30-30 & 45-70 action would be sweet! Love the channel and always look forward to seeing new videos. Sad to hear the channel is getting hate from youtube but that is monetization for ya.
This channel is one of the reasons why my father and I have gotten into distance shooting. It is addictive!
Id love to bring my 30-378 out for a challenge but being north of the border makes things alot harder.
Love this series. One recommendation is maybe throw one of your DJI mics down range near the targets to record the sounds of the steel hits. They should record audio internally even if they’re out of range of the wireless.
Love your mom❤ lots of fun.
Couldn't Smash the like button fast enough! Best content on the tubes..mom definitely needs to get back on the board!
The guy without a scope did fantastic. Very interesting to see.
Absolutely incredible work with that Garand. I keep watching this series just to see when another Mosin, Garand, PSA AR-15, etc., will make an appearance 😁
Love to see the grand again
Another awesome episode I really never was interested in long range shooting until I saw your show now I’m starting to stretch the legs on my hunting rifles a lot more and am starting to build long range rifle in 308 I wish I was not on the other side of the world as would be so cool to shoot for one of your coins for my self
Keep it up and thanks from New Zealand
To even see the target through iron sights in itself is an achievement!
i am just here for the PINGGGGG
Such a great series, as soon as I see a new one is out, I have to watch.. good stuff!!
Here commenting trying to help the algorithm. I have watched everyone of these and I love them. I hope we get to keep the series going.
Even being Sub'ed with notifications on I had to search for this seeing that it had been uploaded in my email.
Excellent video again!! Love seeing the garand. I would like to see Rob Sky from Vintage Sniper Rifle Shooters Club, try this with his 03 A4, or m40 or m70. That would be the 🐈's ass!!
I'd love to see more episodes with varying weather conditions or rifle setups to really test the limits.
How is he supposed to control the weather?
The rifles have been a variety. You new?
Have to add another comment, re: the Garand. I know a WWII vet through my dad who had to defend against a mortar attack at D-Day (Bud Anderson). He was tasked with shooting the mortar crew from 900 yards, and managed it with a Garand that I'm sure looked exactly like the one in this vid. He says he was told to take the guys out or they would all die, so he did. He said he was 18 or 19 at the time (much better eyesight), and it wasn't the first shot, though what I recall from his story was it didn't take that many shots for him to shoot one guy and the crew abandoned their position. He went back a couple years ago, and visited the places he'd been, and even got to see the barn he was staying in that got shelled (shell didn't explode, it landed in a manure pile and sizzled he said). The hole in the roof was patched and the patch is still visible, he took pictures. Crazy stories, he has more...
This guy on the open sights blew me away. Even just to hit near the targets. He needs to try out the black jack challenge
Another Awesome episode!
Absolutely amazing audio in this one bro. Love hearing that bullet travel
So AB Ballistics (and any ballistics program though) says using a 6.5 Creed and Hornady 140 grain ELDX, it's about a 9mph 90° crosswind (assuming no correction on the first shot for the first couple of shooters). I get the sense that that they didn't correct for wind at first, read the impacts and did a good job of correcting though! I measured by taking a screenshot and then plopping into powerpoint then drawing on the screenshot using the 10" plate as reference. First shot miss was about 80" off the center, just to the right of the IPSC.
You got it man, I was holding 2.2mil for wind. Couldn’t get a great read so I just sent the first two without any wind correction. Great assessment
It was fun to see the gentleman try to hit with the Garand and open sights. He did well enough that I think that with a scoped rifle of sufficient range, he would have struck the target for sure. It was fun to watch. Perhaps you could make a separate competition such as a “Iron sights at 800” type challenge. Just saying.
I don't know how he could even see the friggin targets at 1,000 with just the MK1 Eyeball 😮
Still got my spot on the leaderboard mamaplinking 😂
Great episode! That M1 was awesome, so impressed with how close he got.
Have to say this has to be one of my Top three favorite shows of this series 🤘🏻so cool maybe one day I can bring my Serbu 50bmg bolt action out
Love Rosco! Put a 18” purebred in my mk12 build. Consistent .75” groups with mk262!
Keep up the good work Brandon! Love this series!
As usual great vid. My favorite series of vids on RUclips. Keep them coming if you can.
Love this series! Great job organizing this.
I’m impressed with the M1 with Iron sights. That was a great try. I’m sure with a few more clips he could get it.
When a guy says, "I shoot really good, I'm not going to lie", he loses all credibility with me. He might shoot AT one inch dots at 100 yards. 😂
When someone says "not gonna lie", to me that suggests that they lie enough for there to need to be a disclaimer.
@@theKashConnoisseur Well said. If you say those words, any portrayal of you going forward better not be positive but rather an admission of shortfall.
@@theKashConnoisseur Exactly. Or people who say, "not to be mean" and then proceed to say something intentionally insulting.
When I wish to be literal about something, I may preface with the legitimately or suffix it with no lie, no exaggeration. For example, we have had some fatal accidents in my area and plenty is the time that someone is going 100 mph. Others might think that is an exaggeration. But when I am doing 80 and someone zooms by me, well, there you go.
Every person I have seen who claims to be a good shooter is missing the most important thing. The wind. As well as ammo type, twist rate, etcetera. And having too much faith in the dispersion cone of a rifle. You might think you have a .75 MOA rifle because you shot 10 shots at 100 yards and got that spread. Precisely, it only means that you and the rifle were shooting .75 MOA. Distance and win will change that.
Based on how he dialed it in, there are very few people that can shoot at his level with that rifle. You must have no idea what the sight picture he was seeing is. It's practically impossible for a huge majority of the population solely on how good your eyes are and the fact he got so many that close to target speaks for itself
@@SeWallis Yes and no. I think a decent amount of people could walk iron sight shots into the target to a reasonable degree with a spotter calling it out. The trouble comes with the precision capability. Obviously even though the Garand guy knew roughly where to aim, he was still throwing 10 foot fliers, which is to be expected.
Hell yeah brother!
I was so pulling for Andrew and his M1 Garand, amazing with that Texas wind he was able to get that close. I would love to see footage of the contestants hitting the ten inch target afterwards (like behind the scenes). 😎👍🏻
I think there is somewhere a m1 garand side mount for a scope made, but it's very rare. I've seen a picture of it during high school (2014 - 2018)
I am very impressed with the bloke with the M1 Grand, open sights. Maybe invite him back for another attempt.
Some of the very best content on YT!
Garand was awesome. Gonna have to try that with mine!
Another Awesome Show Texas Plinking Rocks 😎
I love this series
It would be cool if you gave weather at the end of the video so that we have a better understanding of what the contestants had to deal with; i.e. wind speed, direction, barometric pressure and temperature. Thanks for all your video graphic work.
I give praise to the Garand Guy. Even if he stole my thunder. That’s what I was wanting to use if I ever went.
awesome episode 🤜🏼🤛🏼🎯
Garand Dude is an Hero!
After King of 2 Miles, let me bring my 416 Stroker down there and lets see what it can do!
As someone who owns an M1 Garand, 500 yards (for me personally) is crazy. 1,000 yards is just insane.
Outstanding content as usual!
Happy the screaming lady is back. Yes I said that respectfully.
Garand con miras normales diablos ese hombre merece mi respeto
