- In this video we take a look at the Earth Alliance's Advanced Omega class Destroyer, a.k.a OmegaX Destroyer.
P.S This is my first try on narrating a video so, the audio is a bit low. Sorry.

The over all feel of this ship made me think of event horizon. It wasn't the over all look of it. Rather, it was the sort of scifi horror asthetic one would expect to see in that sort of movie. That was probably my favorite thing about the Omega X.

They were very cool when they came on screen. Would have been useful during the earth mimbari war.
If earthforce had found those shadow ships during the war, history could be different.

Could Earthforce have gone toe to toe with the Minbari capital ships and won with these hybrid Shadow Omega X's?
In an alternate reality humanity might have thrown in with the Shadows early on out of desperation and become the Minbari's nightmare.
Earth got slaughtered during the minbari war because our archeologist dropped the ball and civil engineering on Mars was taking its sweet time with digging …
Or did humanity not have the skill to reverse engineer Shadow tech till the Babylon five era?
I wouldn't be surprised if the 6 Omega-X cruisers that Ivanova's fleet encountered were operated by PsiCorps Personnel, given the PsiCorps' connection to the Shadows.
I've always wondered if EA had a couple of these under the Minbari War and upraded the Nova Dreadnought to have similar tech like the Omega Class Destroyer, EA could maybe prolonge the war and maybe scored some victories.
the ships weapons are antiBOsons same as what the drark use and the shadows themselves. only difference is the shadows have the power requirements to use the weapons are there full potential.
as for the ships armour it is shadow bio armour not the clone version the earth uses which is nanotech - the bio armour is organic nanotech as stated by JM is a podcast sometime ago.
the spikes are used to dissipate energy from weapons fire over a larger area and also contain the gravitic lancers that propel the ship
You have a couple of things wrong.
1- Humans were unable to analyze shadow tech because it is sentient and it protects itself. An other unnamed race “helped” the human with this “tech transfer”.
2-Shadow tech is closer to a super disease. This is why this look like a diseased omega destroyer. There is an almost 100% probability that the crew is not human at this point.
3- the only two ships mentioned in the series that used human, shadow, and vorlon tech “stolen” by the humans are the white star II (The ship Sherriden died in) and the Warlock class. Probably the only ship in the same class as a sharlin for fire power.
1. The Shadows themselves were working with certain factions of EarthGov before the assassination of President Santiago. More than likely it was The Shadows responsible for this tech transfer. This is further examined(or was supposed to be) in the "Crusade" spin-off with the revelation that Earth Force had progressed much further in their research of Shadow technology by the time the events in "Crusade" took place with a prototype of EF's version of the Shadow Battle Cruiser
2. There is absolutely no evidence that Shadow Technology fundamentally changes human biology to the point of speciation. Anna Sheridan had literally been serving as the CPU of a Shadow Vessel for years and was still 100% human according to medical scans she was subjected to when she appeared on Babylon 5.
3.The White Stars DID NOT use Shadow Technology.
True. But point 3 is off. White stars were made with Vorlon snd Mimbary tech. The ship Sheridan died in was not a white star. It was smaller, and SMARTER than a white star. It was clearly missing the signature Mimbary beam gun from it’s nose. It could fully fly itself. Don’t forget that Sheridan died 20 years after the shadow war while the warlock class was seen during the spin-off “Legend of the Rangers”, a poorly designed spin-off. Sheridan was aboard the Excalibur when it blew up the shadow planet killer going for earth.

This is one of my favorite ship of the Babylon 5. The way shadow tech was slapped onto an omega destroy just looks intriguing to me.
Since your recording equipment is not the greatest, can you make sure the subtitles match your script?
youtube did a descent job understanding you, but it was off from time to time. Like when you said :
"The ship was capable of carrying up to 36 Thunderbolt Star Furies, as well as other support crafts."
It wrote:
"The ship was cables carrying up to 36 Thunderbolt star Furies as well others for practice"
Just add subtitles in the video. Take a look to see if it looks better than before.
The subtitles were quite clear, better than RUclipss' bot.
Omega X Class destroyers are the stuff of nightmares
I would have liked to see 'Shadowtech' Starfuries also. I wonder if the crew of these vessels were still fully human... (perhaps the fighters were drones - like the "Spitfire" bio-drone Shadow fighter?)
Theory. The spike/tentacle-like projections are similar to what we see on Shadow vessels. Any chance they are some form of sensor array? The Shadows seemed to have very good sensors, and in one episode (sorry, but I do not remember which one) one of their ships suffers damage to one of these...things...and looks to be in agony as a result. Maybe they are so sensitive because that is their *purpose*? Anyway, as I said, just a theory.
They're damage diffusers. They operate like the Shadow Ships, which put energy from enemy weapons into their spines that dissipate into space.

Nice work, I am always happy to see your videos for some background information on B5's ships. I am also happy to hear your actual voice again again as it is much more firm and and concise then it used to be before. The only issue I have is that your mike doesn't seem to pick up your voice very well or that it need some balancing, you might want to look into that. Good luck on your next video, and keep it up.
I found the audio almost impossible to understand due to the voice and volume.

KommissarReb they had it sandwiched between the standard armour, so as to hide it.
Yeah don't worry about your accent. To be honest most people find the robot voices very irritating. You will get better at it the more you do it. One trick for you is don't read the commentary but just have dot point notes and speak naturally. That always comes across better.

Could probably take a warlock one on one, even with the agies cannon on the warlock.
I don't think so. If I had to guess I would say 3 to 1. The warlock armour, though it doesn't have the regeneration ability of a true shadow armour, is stronger. Plus, the ship has true artificial gravity, thanks to the gravitic engines. That also give the ship, more manurvebility than the omegas. And we cant forget that the GOD cannons can destroy ships in one hit.
the mega-X were rushed into battlefield as a gap emergency measure against the white star fleet while the Warlocks were made..
Also what program was that all throughout the video that showed the Advanced Omegas in action? Was it an real-time strategy, or a model program?
KommissarReb At a guess it's either B5 mods for the Homeworld games, or the Babylon Project, a standalone mod for Freespace 2 SCP 🙂
@@cocopud The Omega X ships were in the original series. They showed up on a couple of episodes. They may have been on other games/videos, but they were in the original series. I think the spikes/arms/barbel look really stupid and out of place; if you are going to use a layer of Shadow armour as an armour upgrade, what are the spikes/arms for?
@@kostaskritsilas2681 I know, I was referring to where some of the screenshots came from. Re spikes. Allegedly they serve multiple functions on the original shadow vessels, one of which being to increase the vessel’s surface area, thus allowing the energy dissipation to be more effective. I’m guessing the spikes on the OmegaXs do something similar.

That would have looked a lot more advanced if they would have got rid of the spinning sections Shirley that he got that shadow technology and could at least got some artificial gravity out of it
These ships were not a planned design. The Shadow tech was suppose to be applied to the Warlock Class but Clark's forces couldn't finish the Warlock fast enough to engage Sheridan's forces, so the tech was applied to the Omega class.
They probably refitted existing ships instead of building them from scratch. Even if not, a brand-new design takes a long time to develop and test.
When they met up with the white Starfleet duked it out I was just curious why they did not use the same nuclear bombs Sheridan used on the shadow Homeworld there were seven hundred manga ton detonation capabilities doesn't make any sense not to use them

@AKUJIRULE Yes thats the first time earth had small enough energy sources to use that canons in destroyers. An improvement to the omega class. Now where is the proof that this is superior to the minbari sharlin? We never saw thoses two ships fighting each other.
@AKUJIRULE Warlocks are a leap forward bc the don't need roation to generate gravitiy which all other younger races already can.
The nova class dreadnought wich rammed was the schwarzkopf and she was destroyed too. Earth alliance was no match against the minbari, the oldest and most powerfull of the young races. When facing sharlins clarks destroyer retreated in the battle of babylon 5.
Yes warlocks are superior to omegas but again, we have no proof they are stronger then sharlins.
@AKUJIRULE What i meant, GOD canon are nothing new. The problem was the needed to much energy and earht ships can't had big enough powerplants. With the warlock class, they managed to fit powerplants with enough power in a ship to use the GOD
The Warlock has shadow technology on board, but nobody knows what is does. The only Warlock to disarm the device was commanded by its commander/captain Susan Ivanova EAS Titans

Well...6 destroyers vs 20 whitestars...thats was not a fair fight...and they took some whitestars with them.
The battle ended in mutual destruction. The Whit Star fleet killed itself to destroy the advanced Omegas. Given how advanced the White Star were and the way the White Stars outnumbered the Omegas, it's pretty scary how powerful the Advanced Omega are.
A Pyrrhic victory indeed, but Ivanova had no choice but to engage with the forces she had. The main fleet was completely outclassed by these monstrosities. Its destruction would have caused the separatist offensive to crumble, and the whole war might have been lost. Worse, the Minbari would have no choice but to get directly involved in the fighting at that point, as Shadow tech in the hands of an anti-alien regime would be a danger to everyone including themselves. A renewed Earth-Minbari war using both Shadow and Vorlon tech would have caused unimaginable casualties on both sides.
@@charlesw5919 even a Regular Omega managed to criple a white star (battle of proxima-C) the S-Omega might have bern effective with its fusion beam weapons in great munbers.
