I think this is the best golf instruction video I've ever seen. Seriously. All these people on the Internet blabbing on and and on about the golf swing ... that doesn't work. Thanks for this ... this is exactly what I was looking for.
@@Holysmoke1 You may prefer Rory’s but Rory’s swing technically is inferior. Hell guys in the 1960’s and 70’s with the Hogan type swing were hitting drives of 330 to 400 yards with persimmon woods and balata balls. Additionally these same men could still hit 300+ yd drives when they were 70 years old. Folks like Rory when they are 70 years old have had numerous back operations and can barely swing a club they are so crippled. If Rory had their swings with his modern equipment he’d literally be driving the ball 400 to 500 yards. 😏
I love how much snap he had in his swing. Took the club back and BOOM! That ball was gone in less time than the blink of an eye! Long and straight too!
One additional comment, this is the greatest golf instruction video ever. What can any instructor show you to equal watching Ben Hogan swing a golf club? Like taking an art class with Rembrandt. If you can retain even a small portion of this your game will improve by osmosis.
The all time GOAT of GOLF. Had Ben Hogan played today he would obsolete every green in regulation stat ever kept. In the words of former Masters champion Claude Harmon, "If Hogan could have only putted. Jesus, he would have made every record in the book look silly." No flaws, no compensating movements of any kind. Incredibly, many of the swings you see in this video were after his terrible accident in 1949. Outside Van Horn Texas his car collided head on with a Greyhound bus! The comeback Hogan made dwarfs that by Tiger Woods. Six major championships after nearly being smashed to smithereens. Along with Jackie Robinson and Rocky Marciano, the most determined athletes ever. In terms of controlling a golf ball Ben Hogan makes every player today, including Tiger, look like a hack. Try this number on for size. In 1940 Hogan won three consecutive tournaments and missed two greens in total. Two greens missed in 216 holes! Keep Jack and Tiger. There will never be another William Ben Hogan.
Interesting how Jackie Robinson, Rocky Marciano, and Ben Hogan played their sport roughly at the same time. All three from humble origins, all three driven to succeed.
I wish people would not talk and teach so much about power accuracy is where it's at and this man hit so many greens in regulation it's ridiculous because he knew how to hit it closer to the pin then about any golfer in history. Man what a beautiful and effective swing he is my favorite golfer of all time.
I did something like this watching Tom Weiskoff hit a bucket of drivers. I went to hit balls after that, and I was hitting great just from watching him.
I would visualize the shot of TW's shoulder turn (I believe the video was taken at the Masters) taken from.a camera angle from above before I would hit my drives.
Amazing how he leans on them shirt irons how he turns his knuckles down compressing the ball an delofting the club amazing we to this day still trying to following beauty of a swing 🤦♂️ maybe one day I can feel just once what his swing felt like.
Simplified golf swing motion along a swing plane both back swing and down swing...no need for club shallowing, no hand/wrist manipulation...Very easy to emulate to establish an effortless repeatable golf swing
It's not that easy to emulate, 90% of amateur golfers have the problem of swinging right over the top, hence not being able to swing on the same plane. If it was that easy everybody would be able to do it. Its much harder than it looks. (I do understand what your saying and in theory it would be great if we all could do it)
@@LiveForever181 Yeah...first very important step is to understand the dynamic principle of a golf swing... Most amateurs rush to get hold of a golf club and start hitting balls not knowing correct thing to do...
Hogan is still the GOAT & the more one learns about him & the history of the game he is more separated from all others who ever played. From 1941 to 1956 he finished top 10 & under 290 in 12 consecutive US Open attempts. He did it on 12 different courses & won 5 times (I always include the 1942 war time National Open). Despite the fact that technology always lowers scores, the next best streak is still only 5. Also, bear in mind, that players were not allowed to clean the ball on the green until 1960. To further put this amazing accomplishment into perspective consider that in the 1970 US Open Nicklaus, Palmer & Player all failed to break 300!! Now to the criteria that the media & most of the golfing public are obsessed with. Which is modern majors. Well it must be understood that these majors only really became what they are today during the 1960s. Before that time Americans rarely played in the British Open & the Masters did not begin until 1934. In addition none of these events except 2 PGAs were even held during WW1 or WW2. Therefore, to fairly evaluate the majors record of the top players of all-time the following seems to me to be most appropriate. The full age prime of golfers is 21 to 40 (as of July 1). If only these years are considered (plus any winning attempts younger or older than these years) and are calculated to winning % then that is a fair & accurate assessment of their majors record. This is the results of the 3 players most mentioned for GOAT. Ben Hogan 10 wins (including the 1942 war time National Open) in 34 attempts = win% .294 ; Jack Nicklaus 18 wins (including his win at age 46) in 79 attempts = win% .228 ; Tiger Woods 15 wins (including his win at age 43) in 71 attempts = win% .211 . What about Jack's 19 2nds? Well if we add those to the equation by counting the 2nds as lesser value than wins by adding top 2 attempts then the results are as follows: Hogan 26 (wins + top2s) in 38 attempts = .684% ; Nicklaus 55 (wins + top2s) in 83 attempts = .663% ; Woods 37 (wins + top2s) in 72 attempts = .514% .
When Mr. Hogan went to Scotland in 1953 to play in the Open Championship He hit every fairway safely and all but two greens in regulation. That's over 72 holes on one of the toughest courses on Earth, Carnoustie. I find that incredibly inspiring! Mr. Hogan stressed the fundamentals, and I'm in the process of learning them myself. BTW I always address him as Mr. Hogan. Jack is Jack, Arnie is Arnie, and Tiger is Tiger, but for me Ben Hogan will always be Mr. Hogan.
Extremely loose and light handed golf swing. The little extra flow of the wrist at the top gave him all the lag to hit the ball with all the power he needed. Notice his balance as well.
Tiger Woods swung the same as Ben Hogan in 2000 US Open. Its how, not how small or how large. Regrettably Tiger let well meaning, ignorant golf swing "experts" make changes to Tigers complex chain action. The result being a series of bodily injury.

Fun fact: the piano song you’re hearing is called Fairway Dew On A Sunday Morning, it was written AND played by Ben Hogan, what a talent!!!

Check out Steve Johnston. Outstanding Hogan teacher
Seriously the greatest swing of all time.
The prettiest, thats for sure
prefer Rory's tbh
Except for Bobby Jones and Sam Snead

Watching Hogan's flawless swing was like watching a well tuned machine, not a flaw to be seen.

Big Hogan fan, that first series of shots showed him cocking his head 2 inches to the right as his swing trigger, like a miniature Knicklaus move.
Linear force-generated circular motions!
Hips powered-club slinging!

Can you imagine guys like this with the technology in clubs and balls of the last 10-15 years. They were hitting woods when they where wood
Nice. Can you do a left handed version?
I don't know but I'll try.
ruclips.net/video/Upo43Lms00E/видео.html. Left Handed Ben Hogan

Just flawless and unbelievably repeatable with what appears to be not stress on the body ……👍
If you are good at learning by imitation - Congratulations! This is all you need!
I've never considered myself as being one of those people who would be susceptible to hypnotism, but if I was, this would probably do it.
hittin the ball hard
Small shoulder movement but it’s perfect
“Like watching a black BMW drive on a white sand beach.” - Gary Player.
His hips are fast baby real fast. This mr. Hogan was a machine. What a player he was... miss a shot hardley ever
In his book he says "the hips can't move too fast"
Genius
Stack + Tilt
No, sir, not at all.
i think i've got it.
Have to know Ben Hogan's intent. Gerry Hogan figured that out.
cheers
Low hands at top of back swing but club is nearly parallel to the ground. Hmmm.
Only a small man can swing like he did I saw him in 1962
Tiger Woods swung the same as Ben Hogan in 2000 US Open.
Its how, not how small or how large.
Regrettably Tiger let well meaning, ignorant golf swing "experts" make changes to Tigers

I....MUST..... REPEAT
