Sooooo nice to hear that pure, oberheim sound in a relatively affordable package!
What a dream come true this is.
Daniel Fisher is THE MAN to give this demo! Sweetwater, give this man a raise. He is already responsible for my bank account getting leaning and Sweetwater’s account getting fatter!
I have wanted an Oberheim since the 1980’s. I think I will finally begetting one!
Daniel, would you please do an all-instrumental album? Someone needs to join Kebu and pick up the mantle from Vangelis!
Polybrute 12 yesterday and Teo 5 today. Wow. Great summer ahead. The Oberheim sound + DSI / Sequential style engine means a lot of sonic flexibility. Thanks!
Since a few years we live in a golden age of synths and electronic music instruments. You have all those classic synths as modern take and many innovative new synths like Polybrute, Astrolab or the Elektron devices. I can't keep up :D - Just wish the Two 5 would have poly aftertouch. Based on interviews with ASM adding that functionally isn't that much more expensive and they were wondering why not more manufactures included it. Most likely as you can't find that many keybeds included with it as part.
I’m still not over the polybrute demo and now this.
I thought i wanted the Behringer Ubxa, but nah...THIS is IT!!
I Agree. I think the UBXa sounds laid-back and lacks overtones compared to TEO5 and in my opinion the UBXa doesn't have the right oberheim filter. the TEO5 does.
This is more than a product demo, it’s a piece of art. Thanks Dan!
He's great eh? Jeez... what a musical guy.
Wow !
This is on my G.A.S. Radar!
Excellent demo, wonderful sounds!!
Wow this sounds humongous
Jesus that sounds actually amazing
Sounds wild and beautiful
The Run Like Hell solo at 1:30 is whats up
Wow at this fantastic synth, and extra wow at Mr. Fisher's demonstrating it - one of his best performances ever.
Trust Daniel Fischer to give you the most practical demonstration of what a synthesizer or a keyboard can do for you just by playing it himself. Much obliged, Daniel.
Fantastic.
Such a broad range of sounds, pads, basses. Massive as well as subtle.
It reminds me a lot of the Matrix 6, which i used extensively in my music: steam engines, caves with water dropping, helicopters, strings and more. But this one truly goes beyond that. With this synth on stage, a keyboardist cannot fail but only enjoy his instrument.
Thank you Daniël, many thanks to TEO also of course.
And there was me saying to myself that I don't want any more synths. How silly of me. I want this. It's on my end of year shopping list lol
This sounds better than my OB-6 to be honest.
Dan the Man! Definitely hearing that Oberheim mojo. Instabuy!!
My prayers have been answered 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Thank you Tom!!! Great demo, too!
This is SERIOUSLY fabulous demo! 👏🏻👏🏻 I’ve been thinking back and forth what analogue synth to buy… Arturia brutes, Sequental pro3, Behringer UB-xa, etc. Judging from what we have here is the real thing analogue, great looks, great sound, very musical, has the presence.. fantastic instrument!
Now that sounds better than the polybrute 12 to my ears
There's no better sound in analog than the oberheim sound IMPO
@@thedarkestrainbowperfect
Exact same thing to me. I was so happy for the Polybrute 12, but then I listened to this…and yes even if it’s only 5 voices, I still prefer the sound 🤷🏼♂️
5>12, in this case!
Your ears, and many others, are hearing correctly. Regardless how expressive PB is the voice architecture choices mean it cannot keep up on "bread-n-butter" analog patches.
A heap of music genres can be boosted out of this little beast 🤖
_NICE_ demo, Mr Fisher! And exciting new development from Oberheim! It's so great to see that logo showing up on _new_ products!
what a sound! like the sibling Take-5, it is maybe small in stature but certainly not in sound and sonic possibilities! love it :)
Daniel Fisher always give us best synth demos 🤩
This really can't be said enough. Wow!!
This is without a doubt my favorite demo.
This sound demo is an album in itself 😍
That delayed reverb at 15:52 is surprisingly good. I got spatially disoriented there for a few secs
I was waiting this video from Daniel since this synth was announced
Me too!!!! what a demo!
10:55 DAMM "The Fifth Element"
ob-6 for life
Daniel Fisher is the messiah who delivers the will of the synth Creators to the masses.
Great demonstration of sounds. Not just bleeps and bloops but some real deal STUFF. 👏
small ob6. Amazing
$1500. That is a pretty nice counter to Behringers OBX release
Always bringing the fire to your demos.... Nice flashback sounds at the beginning...
$1,499.99* 😍
* Daniel Fisher not included 😭
If that is the price, thank for saying. I am getting real tired of ad guys making videos of gear and avoiding mention of the price like it's a plague.😜🎶🎹🎶 Play On
@@mybachhertzbaud3074 Sweetwater avoids listing prices in their videos because brands are constantly changing pricing on things. It lets the videos be accurate representations of the products, even after pricing changes.

I’ve finally found my first Polysynth
WHAT A SOUND!!!!!!!!
They really seem to have knocked it out of the park with its sound.
1:58 cool technique! Thanks for sharing!
Now I'll be curious to see if an LFO can control the octave+/- on every new synth.
Oh Yea! It’s a great day:)! Mr. Daniel Fisher flexing his wonderful electronic musical skills…based on what I hear to be another great DSI synthesizer! Yes…it’s a great day! Thank you, Sir!
Amazing sound
Aaaaaand ordered!
With powerful, flexible poly synths at this price and sound quality, I think it's getting harder to justify the classic mono synth in the plus $1500 price range. If I were starting out, I'd definitely get something like this first before getting a similarly priced instrument like a Subsequent 37, as good as that instrument is.
Oh man... sounded great, Daniel!
1:37 Pink Floyd "Run Like Hell"
Sounds incredible. Fantastic demo Daniel!
very good demonstration, thank you
Outstanding!!!
Was about to bitch about this just being another version of the take 5, and how come we can't get something like a matrix 12. Until I saw the price, and heard this thing. I'll definitely be buying one.
Great Demo Daniel!
Love the form factor…..colour…..sound…….great demo
Sounds really good.
Sweet and lush 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Nice Steve millers recreation!
Def my next synth purchase for sure
Demo sempre eccellenti!
Sweet demo!
Of course now you need to to a side-by-side comparison between this and the Take 5.
You make a good point Daniel Fisher; why has no synthesizer company created a feature setting to allow for a scanner button that pans through the octaves on the keyboard to make it possible to have an arpeggiation with additional octave scanning function. That's what I'm going to call it, "octave scanning." New keyboard designers need this feature.
really great demo video.... oh my gosh....
What a beauty.
Dang it. 9:21 got me good/want this!
Gorgeous
Superbooth 2024 was the place to be this year. Arturia, Moog, Oberheim… Dang!
This with my take 5 🥰🥰🥰
2 of These poly-chained 👌
This is exactly what I was thinking, since it will certainly come out in desktop version soon! This would be dope 😉
@@Philandthesynths - I wouldn't count on that, the Take 5 is the 'Prophet' version of this from Sequential and it's been around for 2yrs and no talk of a desktop version on the horizon.
Sounds awesome. Can't wait what the TIT-5 or TRIP-5 or whatever they'll call the Trigon 6 derivative will be like :) Another 2 years of waiting is my guess :) This is an awesome little synth though!
I am for Bob-5 with reference to Bob Moog.
Sounds really good to me
Uncle Fish!!!!
It sounds really amazing, better than what I expected to be honest. They really did a great job with this one.
Amazing sounding synth... even with the dumbing down of youtube. Excellent work Daniel!
Amazin!
Amazing sounds and someone who can really play too. How many times have you all watched this "demo" honestly? lol.
Can't wait to own this someday! I almost got the Take 5 during the sale earlier but this seems even more perfect for my set up which is wild to say. The aesthetic and the modulation factor tops it for me. so hyped. Gonna try and sell some gear I don't use too often for it. Anyone want a microcosm? Or 5 string solid body U Bass? Love em but love this more
IN A CLASS OF THEIR OWN. 📈
Too many cool synths! I need more money😢
I can hear a lot of Jean-Michel Jarre in this.
I've been listening to Jarre since 1976 :-)
-_Daniel_
@@sweetwaterMe too. Jarre was the reason I got into synths ❤
BTW, every time I see a sweetwater video featuring Daniel Fisher, everything else instantly becomes insignificant, and I have to watch. Really enjoy your presentations that much. Wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you.
The layout is straight up the take 5
Want!
10:55 early Steve Roach, dead on.
Which album? Someone else attributed it to Fifth Element.
@@josephwright5921 Structures From Silence I suppose.
maybe a teo 8 in the future? that would be awesome
2:50 Into the future
It sounds nasty - in a good way. Great demo!
Damnit lol I have 3 Oberheims. Oh well. Take my money
Can we get this in a module and use our own controller?
Third Eye Open Φ
interested in the dimensions (in cm). need to measure my desk to see if it will fit ;)
crazy ! wow. but where does this stand against the OB X8 ? are there similarities ? cheers
The main similarities in sound are that they both have the state variable filter but on the OBX8, you have to dive into a menu for that. The TEO-5 has it right on the surface like the OB6 or the OG SEM. The OBX8 is almost like having an SEM/OBX, OBXA and an OB8 all in one. This TEO-5 is almost like extracting the SEM/OBX out of it. I say almost because it doesn't have variable waveforms in the oscillator section like the OB6 or the SEM. The OBX, OBXA and OB8 didn't either. It's going to be a great synth at that price regardless of the forthcoming UBX and 2 voice.
This sounds much more like the OB6 to me. The OBX8 is on another level to my ears. I own both fwiw.
@@daboosreviews8819 i also have both, and wondering if i should just collect them all, the mod matrix pulls me in and the sub osc here.
OBX8 sounds better?
@@dannymolns3573 i would nt say better, just sounding good in different ways. since the Teo has onboard effects / distortion , mod matrix etc
@sweetwater Does anyone know if the voice boards are discreet analog like the OB6 and OBX?
J3PO confirmed that the oscillators and LFO are from the Take 5, filter is OB6, envelopes are X8.
Do you still have the Teo 5? Any way you could do a comparison between the Teo 5 and Ob6?
They should have just gone full SEM on the Oscillators too and made the waveforms variable but at least for those who don't already own an OB6, you get the state variable filter. Great synth nonetheless! I'm jealous I don't have the logo and the name on my OB6.
The good thing about this is, that ob-6 prices will go down, right?
Don't hold your breath.
So, is it blue or is it gray? In this video, it looks blue, but on the Sweetwater site, it looks dark gray! (I prefer the gray.)
Black with blue lines.
I prefer the grey.
@@kamelhamlaoui9983 It only looks different because of lightning/camera settings.
Gold and white.
@@wm.dennis ok, I don’t like the blue. I would like to a grey( obx) or even better colour cream like the S.E.M’s O.G’s!!!
Seamless sound transition or is that how video is edited?
Hi Shawn. The transitions are crossfading from one example to the next via editing. I'm pretty sure that previously held notes don't stay on the previous sound, but I no longer have a TEO-5 handy. Thanks for watching! -_Daniel_
Okay, I dig "TEO-5"… but I really wish they'd gone with "Five Voice". 😆
It’s Tom’s initials
The question: If one has an OB-X8 and an OB-6, is there any reason to acquire this? Is there merely one element that is "different?"
I have obx8 and sold my ob6 but this is a completely different beast. I have take 5 which is my favorite but this might top it.
@@loweroctaves What in particular makes it different? Thanks!
@@Lachenmann7 it has more modulation options, so you can create more complex sounds, almost like a poly modular. This has fx(i think obx8 doesn't) and a new approach to fx cross modulation goys Calle di think zero cross fm. It is important cause the osc remains in tune.
I find that the only disadvantage are those 5 voices if you want to play bigger chords..
@@stergiost.6246 Looks like I'll end up getting it, eventually, even if I don't need it. Oy! (I do have the OB-6 and the OB-X8. But I'm an addict.)
@@Lachenmann7 I have also the ob6 and thinking very seriously to buy it. If you do not use more than 5 voices, maybe this one is the only oberheim you need... I really like it
All Stranger Things sounds in one synth
The more he plays the more I realize Daft Punk used this synthesizer!
That's a nice soundig analog/digital hybrid synth. Too bad it doesn't have analog VCA's.
The entire synth is analog except for the effects
@@dannymolns3573where did you aquire this information? Unless it deviates radically from the Take 5 the only analog elements are the VCO's and the filter.
Looked so good but why now Low E key? This seems like a huge miss. Minimoog has a low E. It’s the lowest note of a 4 string bass. I get it you can shift octaves, but still, most composers still think of Low E as the standard.
Hi thenashvillebassmentor. The Moog Minimoog's lowest key is also an F. Thanks for watching!
-_Daniel_
Synth has 5-note polyphony; Daniel Fisher holds down a 13-note chord; synth suddenly has 13-note polyphony.
That's a lot of fingers!
"When Daniel Fisher plays a new synth, he doesn't look at the spec sheet how much polyphony is available. In fact, the synth asks *him* how much polyphony he wants to have."
