@@symbiat0 Sure would be.. it´s good that Synth companies keep the money rolling in with a bit more accessible synths like the TEO 5 it provides them with the economy to create a more dream like high end project that they can bring to life.
I have owned a few analog synths and think that software today is pretty close. But in terms of just magic sound bliss, the SEM filter is still the greatest of all time.
This is a great little synth, it sounds great period, and for the money wow, but B sold their synth out like 4 times already, I doubt they're worried about it. Plus the 16 voices/32 VOCs is nothing to sneeze at. In layer mode you can go pretty nuts with sound deign and of course 16 voices is also super advantageous in split mode. 5 voices for an OB style synth is a bit limiting as far as classic lines and big pad /string/brass spreads go. I have an X-8, which I love, but I'll likely get the UB when the desktop version comes out. I'll place it over of my X8. It's got a darker tone with more sound design possibilities that I think will compliment my particular style/set up. But yeah, this is a great option as well, and different, if you can forgive the 5 voices, or just don't need more.
@@EnervatedSociety I love Behringer, don’t get me wrong. Mine was more of a “uh-oh” moment for them, since Uli’s philosophy was ‘making more affordable products for everyone’, when started off. Not so cheap, if you ask me for a knock off. So, the comment was purely on the financial aspect of the product, rather than the quality.
That sound - is lovely. Novation making good of their deal. Surely getting that vibe without the price of the UB! And no horrible software motion stabilisation sickness on this vid! Thanks Starsky! What is happening to your voice though @7:08 sounds like AI has taken you over!!
There's a difference between discrete circuitry (separate components) and analog circuits on an integrated circuit (chip),... Jupiter 8 is discrete, Jupiter 6, Junos, Prophet 5, ObXa etc are on chips.
@@papahuge Discrete are the more desirable by most aficionado's. Hence the huge price of the Jupiter 8 and Jupiter 4. The sound is potentially more variable as all components have different tolerances etc. This can create a more organic sound - I'm not convinced the difference is that large but some people swear by it. Also, discrete parts will probably always be able to get fixed, whereas if a chip dies its more difficult. Having said that Behringer now produces the famous Curtis chips that you have in the Prophets etc and there are plenty of new Juno chips available. Discrete is also more expensive to manufacture - which is why Chris mentions this is an important difference between the OB6 and Teo5
@@StarskyCarr Ahhh thanks for clearing that up, it makes sense now! Supposedly you can drive more voltage through discrete components as well... wonder if that changes anything in the sound of the oscillators. But I totally understand why discrete voice boards create more variation now, since the component tolerances can be varied. But I also wonder if this phenomenon can be programmed/printed on the IC.
Lovely sounding synth! It really has the oberheim vibe. Too bad the rep didnt demonstrate the analog overdrive on the top left. There are better demonstrations of how this synth sounds like on YT.

Because they believe that supporting a company that clones other companies, and makes really poor social postings, is the right thing to do. UBXa is only a little cheaper than the Teo 5, yet the Teo 5 runs rings around it. 16 voices don't mean much when they sound poor to begin with. Add to that the poor keybed that comes along with it.

I can smell Starsky soon cooking up a TEO-5/OB-6/OBX-8 comparison video. Compliments to the chef
