Thank you for posting this! I've been trying to find a recording of this show for years. This is the Mike Walsh Show, on Channel 9, based out of Melbourne, Australia. We were on tour of the East Coast of Australia, based out of Sydney. We flew to Melbourne to do this TV show. I played bass for Gary for several years. That is me playing bass in this video clip. The station promised us a videotape copy of the show, but we never received one. It makes me happy to see this. I can't believe that it has been 40 years. 🙂
Gary Puckett looks like one of my doctors (I won’t say which dr.) He was still looking pretty young and still sounding good in his singing voice as well as his very pleasant way of communicating with the host of the show. I. Remember seeing him perform at Knotts Berry farm around this time or late 1970’s. He has a very pleasant way about him, Thanks for sharing❣🙏❤🎼🌟
I'm wondering if they sped up his studio recordings to make him appear to sing higher?? Even here in the early 80s I can hear a significant decline in his vocal quality. He still is singing today, but it is terrible. I have been singing all my life, and I would hope I would know when to hang it up. Don't get me wrong, I love the Gary Puckett voice and music of the studio from the 60's, but his live stuff just doesn't quite have it.
This live performance was about 16 years after the studio recording. Very few aging singers hold their original range. Gary had a phenomenal voice. Everyone said he never warmed up; he just opened his mouth and it came out effortlessly. There were no studio tricks for the recording. You can witness him singing live to the studio track here: ruclips.net/video/IXutqkkAueo/видео.html You know it's live because Sullivan had him change some "racy" lyrics.
@@Bobbiegarrington He had a great voice in his prime. No doubt about it. But he lost the qualities of it pretty early on, which surprised me being that I thought his vocal technique sounded pretty solid. Some singers carry on great vocals into their 80s.
I really did not care that much for this version at all I think he really did not do this song Justice and really really really really really destroyed his own song sorry about that but that's my feeling
WHEN He GOT Older He AGED Like a FINE WINE I SAW HIM IN LAS VEGAS MUCH LOVE FROM SWEET LORRAINE ❤️🌹❤️ From Idaho 💓 FALLS ❤️ USA 💯
His sound and voice never grow old !!! Love Gary .
The best voice of the 60's. And great songs.
And Tom Jones.
@@jim5746 They DO; "sound a lot of like"... lots of Power in their Voices.
With the obvious exception of Mr. Orbison, of course.
@@James-Noris In my opinion Roy Orbison is the greatest singer ever.
Wow his voice is unbelievable
The most beautiful voice ever!!
Live performances are so much better!!! Gary has such a deep tone when he sings, as compared to his speaking voice. Such a witty, humble guy!!
He was and still is my all-time❤😊 favorite singer
Been a fan for over 50 years when I was a young girl! Love you Gary! ❤
Such a fantastic group and his voice just touches your soul. So glad I grew up in the 60's and 70's. ❤

I've been crazy about you Gary since I was 10 years old in 1968.. I'm 65 and still have fantasies about you❣️ 🥰
Great backup band. Of course I miss the horns!. The original "Union Gap" weren't allowed to play. I had no idea he had such a talented family.
Mr Voice❤

His video is much better than here, the video captures your soul...I think he's singing in this interview too fast
Yes I thought too fast.
At first l thought he wear shorts... 😆
LOL🤭! I thought the same thing!!! With the shadow of the speakers(?) on his legs, it sure does look like it!!!

This was an Australian show? The host sounds like he's from Brooklyn.
Yep Australian Show but Don Lane was an American who made home here
